I love this forum. It is a break from thinking about breast cancer, yet knowing everyone here is going through or has gone through similar circumstances. I seem to have lost all of my willpower to lose weight, but your posts are so encouraging! I am going to a pool party tomorrow that has been an annual event for years. We usually go from 11:30 a.m. and leave 11:30 p.m. I don't think that will be the case this year, but I will make the best of it while I'm there. Unfortunately, my doctor has ruled out swimming for me and tanning looks like it is out, as well. I can still drink, though!
-
HI ladies. I've not had a lot to say lately, but I'm still here reading and thinking about you all. I was down this week, but I hate that I keep losing the SAME 5 pounds, it seems. Hopefully I can change that now. This is a difficult time of the year for me - the seniors are graduating and going off to college and I'm sad to see some of them go. Combine that with the hormonal craziness of Tamoxifen and I'm feeling pretty emotional. Just one more week to get through with the kids, then I leave town for a week while they take finals (I'm working elsewhere for the week). Then one week back then summer break - which entails another surgery.
Anyway, I hope you're enjoying your long weekend, espically you kindergarten with the wedding. I love hearing how everyone is doing, it gives me motivation to keep at it even after a not so good week. Thanks to all of you for being here, Tenaj, Snobird, Marcia, ATeamNana, and Blessings.
I'll try to be better at posting, but know that even if I don't post, I'm here reading.
DH, DS, and I went for a nice long bike ride today (9+ miles, took us about 1.25 hours as we went at DS' pace). I didn't want to go at first, but am now glad that I did go. It was a gorgeous day here today, not too hot, a bit of a breeze, and sunny for the most part.
Take care, HUGS to you all.

Kathy so glad you popped in:). Glad you are having a good time. Haha on the sister thing. Works for me. I went shopping with my sister today and came home to a HOT house. Our air conditioner froze up. Bummer. By the time I figured out something was really wrong it was after hours for our heating cooling people but thankfully I got ahold of the owner and he came right over. Can't get it fixed until tomorrow but we have a window unit in our bedroom so we r good for the night. Gotta love livin in a small town when it comes to stuff like this. I did have to run to a Walmart however 20 minutes away to get the right size filter. It needed changed and this small town everything that would have filters was already closed. I'm still going to enjoy my weekend!!! Heading to my nice cool bedroom. Nite all!

Marcia and cookie monster. So glad you are still here with us. I love this thread also. It is so encouraging. I struggle with the up and down weight too cookie monster I assume it has something to do with water weight but it is frustrating. I just know I am eating healthier and making better choices. Wow that was a long bike ride. Marcia you will feel better the farther out you are from your surgery. Then you may have the willpower to jump in with us. But please stay with us. I love chatting with everyone. This thread is very encouraging. No negativity just good conversation.

Good morning everyone including Marcia1111, I agree about this thread. It's a nice break from the reality & hardships we face dealing with BC. The ladies here are wonderful & supportive & doing so well.
It's been difficult to stay completely on the diet this weekend but I have been making much healthier choices & drinking lots of water & green tea. Speaking of green tea....I've been on a mission to find the same tea I bought at Marshall's weeks ago for $5.99. Touch organic, sold on amazon for $23.99. It quite delicious, much better than tetley. Well, after 4 different stores I found 3 boxes at TJ Max!!!! I'm so happy :-)
ATeamNana, good luck getting the AC fixed.....that's a nescessity.
CookieMonster, you're doing great. You are in the thick of it right now. Stay strong & positive & you'll get there. I was in the same thing loosing & gaining be same 5 lbs. I started ths 17 day diet & it is the first time I've seen results. Down about 9 lbs in 3 weeks now. The good news is it doesnt really feel like a diet because I'm eatting very delicious foods.
Kindergarten looking forward to hearing from you next week. I'm sure you re having a wonderful time.
Snobird, I like the way your drink sounds. How's the juicing going?
Enjoy your weekend everyone!! -
We have been gone all day. Left a key for the heating cooling guy. Came home to a wonderful cool house. So much better. It was 85 in here yesterday today 76. Have a good day tomorrow everyone!

Hi everybody. Just got back into Internet range. I've been out in the woods at our cabin. No Internet, tv or plumbing lol. Yes, I am on the 17 day diet and it is working for me as I like to eat the food that is on it. I find it very easy to stick to and shop for. I am not a junk food junky so I don't struggle with that aspect. My challenge is to eat enough and get enough exercise. The first 17 days I lost 9 lbs. the next week I only lost 2 so I went back to phase 1. I started to juice to get more vegetables in my diet. I don't mind fruits, I probably eat too many of those. I love salads, have one every night. Currently down another pound but I still have 18 to lose yet. I am menopausal and will be 58 in a few weeks. I would love to reach my goal weight by my birthday. Good
Luck with that lol. I'm planting a big tomato garden today with several different heirloom varieties. I love home grown tomatoes and I will be impatient for them to grow and then I will be overwhelmed I know. -
How funny snobird You Kathy and I are about the same age. I will be 58 in September. I hope to be at my goal weight by then. Since my pool is open I will be getting more exercise. It has been a hopping place today. Three different groups have already been in and out to swim:). My son's friends bring their families occasionally to swim. Seems so strange to these young men as daddy's. They were the typical honery teenagers and now wonderful husband and daddy's. I love seeing them:) I have not done too badly this weekend but have had more than normal. Back at it strong tomorrow. Hi tenaj Marcia blessing cookiemonster sorry if I missed any one. (Kathy if she pops in:)
-
I went to the gym for the first time since my diagnosis! It felt great, although I couldn't do as much as I used to, naturally. After all the pigging out I did at 2 parties this weekend, it's a good thing I went. I thank you ladies for being here. I think hearing your stories helped to push me out the door and into the gym!
-
Go Marcia!! I ate more than I should have and I had two diet sodas this weekend which I hardly ever do. But tomorrow we will do better. It is so hard but I really want to get back in my clothes that are packed away. I have never worked out in a gym I would have no idea what to even do so that is awesome!
-
Hi, wonderful ladies!! Popping in to say, hi!!!! Marcia, good for you, going to the gym!!! Pigging out is o. K. Once in awhile!!!! ATeam Nana , we are just youngsters, he,he,he!!!! Isn't it neat to see our children grown up , marry, and have children of their own?Our beautiful children' s wedding was simply wonderful!!!! We even walked and exercised with family and friends!!!! But ate great food, back to normal this week!!! We are headed up to Yosemite for two days!!!! Hopefully lots of walking!!! Hugs to you all!!!!
-
Kindergarten you are so good with keeping active...all that walking & exercising you won't see any issues with all that good food. Glad to hear the wedding was wonderful. I'm sure everyone looked fabulous !!! Enjoy your trip to Yosemite.
I didn't stick to the diet perfectly this weekend. I did cheat, shared an ice cream cone with sprinkles, went out for a few drinks & had a handful of pretzels at the bar, I even had a slice of pizza. I tried to eat healthy 2 out of 3 meals over the weekend. Today I was back to no carbs. Hopefully when I go on the scale I won't have caused too much damage. I did have fun on this holiday weekend & that is what life is all about; having fun & enjoying every minute of every day.
Have a great evening everyone!! -
Dear Tenaj!!! Thank you for your kind words!! Yes, indeed enjoying life, friends and family is what it is all about!! You are doing great!!! I hope everyone' s Memorial Day weekend was Wonderful!! We are going on a bus tour of Yosemite tomorrow!! Lots of walking also!! Hugs to you all!!!!
-
Tenaj. I did not stick to diet totally over the weekend either but I did have a good time with friends n family. Trying my best to get back at it. Looks like I gained 1.8 pounds. Could have been worse:). Let's get back in the groove. The good news is we only have to work three more days till the weekend
. It was good to hear from Kathy.
Healthy eating everybody!!! -
I did really well over the weekend but yesterday was not a good day. I got lazy due to thunderstorms and lots of phone calls and decided I needed to have pizza for dinner. Only had 2 slices piled high with veggies so not too bad but I also had 2 glasses of wine and since I'm already bad enough my husband wants to get ice cream on the way home. OMG! Please help me I say to myself as we pull in. DH asks if I want anything and of course what I want is a hot fudge sundae but I opt for a baby cone with frozen yogurt. Now I'm really full and wishing I had only one piece of pizza. Well I'm juicing today and I have yoga in an hour so hopefully I'm back on the program. Enjoy the rest of the week folks.
-
Good Morning My dear weight Loss buddies!! I got on the scale & I am up a little more than 1 lb, so that is not too bad considering what I had to eat this weekend. I am back on track with the eatting, I need to up my execise a bit. I did ride my bike last night. I am working today so if the weather is good I will take another ride when I get home. I have packed my green tea, yogurt with peaches & a piece if chicken for today. Have a wonderful day ladies. Keep that healthy eatting & lots of water going!!
-
I'm so glad I have you all to hold me accountable. I went out to eat with my sister last night. Cracker barrel. I so badly wanted the butter baked chicken n mash potatoes. But I opted for the salad with low fat dressing:(. I did have a slice of grilled sour dough bread. I do think we have at least all changed our normal patterns and at least most of the time we make better choices so I think we are all doing great!!!! I need to up my exercise also. Catch ya all later!! Marsha

Today was our last Bible Study before summer vacation.
We all went to Applebees for lunch.
OHMYGOSH everyone's food looked soooooo good!
But I ordered hot tea, and brought along my Optifast shake.
Right now, it's working, and I don't mind a bit if people eat around me.
I know there will be a time in the future when I can order off the menu at Applebees again. (Only next time, it will last me several meals instead of polishing it all off like I used to do.)
-
Good for you blessing. I love Applebee's. Of course I love most restaurants thus my weight gain. I did not make good choices tonight for supper we met friends for supper. But I have the pool heater on and plan on getting some laps in:).
-
Hi, Ladies!! Weare on our way back from Yosemite!!! Can't wait to get on scale tomorrow!!! Lots of exercise, but not great eating while we were gone. But my baby is married now, we are so happy!!! ATeamNana, swimming is such great exercise good for you!!!! Blessings, you are doing so great with Optifast!!! We always celebrate our last Bible Study with lunch, too!!! But I am not as good as you!!!! Hugs to all!!!!
-
Hi Kathy. Drive safely. So glad you had a great time!
I have been slacking lately. I have stuck to pretty much staying right at 1200 calories but have not stuck strictly to the 17 day diet. May take me longer to get to my goal but I will get there:). Rain has prevented me from exercising in the pool today but we need the rain so it is OK. Have a good day tomorrow everyone! -
Well, I'm happy to say that I'm back on track. Juicing seems to be the key for me. Every morning I've been making a large glass (12oz) of fresh made fruit and veggie drink with my juicer. This morning I had pear, mango, pineapple, 2 pcs. celery, 1 carrot and 2 Swiss chard leaves. It was delicious. Then for a late morning snack I have Greek yogurt with blueberries and a handful of chopped walnuts mixed in. I eat a late lunch which is usually a salad or a yogurt and fruit smoothie. Dinner last night was grilled veggies with brown rice for me but my hubby added some meat to his dinner. Anyway I have lost 2 more lbs this week even after the pizza, wine, ice cream debacle. Yea! I'm going to be good this weekend as we have no special events. Wish you all strength and determination with your goals. Have a great weekend.
-
I leave town later today and will be eating on other people's menus for a whole week. Hopefully there will be lots of salads and fruit available. We'll see.
I'll try to still read while I'm out of town, but not sure how well I'll do.
-
Hi, CookieMonster, so good to see you!!! Have fun on your week away and enjoy eating out and not cooking, he,he,he!!! I only gained a pound while we were away and I ate lots of unhealthy food!!!! Have a great time. Snobird, I have to juice again!!! I used to when I was going through Chemo. Juicing is delicious and so nutritious. your recipes sound wonderful!!!! Hi,Tenaj and ATeamNana!!!! Hubby and I are headed to the gym this morning to detox
Thank you all for being such a wonderful support system for me. I am hoping this time next year, I will be at my best weight ever and keeping it there. Hugs to you all!!!!
-
Hi ladies. Glad to hear your doing so well Snobird. You'll meet your goal.
CookieMonster enjoy your time away! Lots of luck eatting healthy. Don't forget to drink lots of water.
Kindergarten what a busy week you've had!!! Sounds like you had so much fun. All that fun & eatting & only up 1lb???? You go girl!! You still want to loose more or just maintain??
I had an appt with my MO today & for the 1st time I was looking forward to going on a scale.LOL.... I'm down 11 lbs since I saw him in February. All my markers were good!!! Yippee!!! I have to have a follow up cat scan from my pet scan 10 months ago. My thing today was he wants to switch me from letrozole to tamoxifen because I want to use some vaginal estrogen cream. Any of you ladies take or have taken any of these hormonal therapies?? I'm concerned cause weight gain is a SE!!!! OH NO!!!!!! I'm just making some head way! -
tenaj...good for you! 11 lbs is awesome! I need to get back with it...I think I am going to go back to cycle 1...to get back on track. Weekends are tough...I have all four grandsons all day tomorrow and until bedtime so I will at least stay busy...hahahaha. Have a good day tomorrow everyone!
-
ATeamNana have a great day with your grandsons!!!! Hope the weather is good so you can enjoy your pool :-)
-
Hi, Tenaj!!!!! Congratulations on your fantastic weight loss. You are amazing and most importantly your markers were good. I was on Aromasin for almost 6 1/2 years. My onc said I could stop because he felt my estrogen levels were nil. I had also had a complete hysterectomy. I had some weight gain with Aromasin, but nothing significant. I just like to eat, that has been my problem all my life. I did lose weight finally while on Aromasin, I just had to be more diligent. I don't know alot about Tamoxifen, but I am sure you will do fine!!!! Are you pre or post menopausal??? I took Aromasin, because I was post menopause. These drugs do keep the cancer away!! I still want to keep losing!!!! I am determined to lose more and keep it off. I feel so much better. Drinking water has become a habit now, thanks to you!!!
-
Kathy thanks so much for the encouragement & I am glad I could be of help. :-)
I was premenopausal & they give me lupron to put me into menopause & have been on femara since September. I look forward to less joint pain!!! I want to make sure I do all I can to keep the cancer away. One of those things i can do is loose weight & I am so glad that I have you & these other lovely ladies to do this journey with. Thanks :-) have a great weekend!!
(((hugs))) -
Tenaj. It is cold here. It rained yesterday and still cool today and this evening so unless it really warms up tomorrow no pool time. Kiddos will be disappointed but I'm sure we will find something to do. This week just flew by. I can't believe it is June already. I do not have any treatment now. I am triple negative so no follow up meds. I am headed to bed. "see" you all tomorrow:)
