AMERICAN IDOL....Season 11

I cannot believe I didn't catch this thread before, SHEILA! And GREEN, it is fantastic to see you again! Folks, I used to watch every episode of AI until about three years ago, and I had a girlfriend I'd email with periodically thru each season. Then I got all upset one year when they eliminated a top ten person, I guess they were like number eight or something, and so I decided from then on to just to watch like the last half-dozen episodes or so. This year, I really disconnected and barely looked at it, but I remember Josh and Phillip being two I liked a lot.
Well, I watched the episode before this elimination, and I was so taken by Josh's style (I like the blues, soul), his sincerity, and his voice maturity so beyond his years. So, I was disappointed he didn't make it to the top, but I knew that he'd get snapped up by a record company and do fine for himself. I also very much liked Phillip, great concert type singer, he has a lot of fans. I'm not too familiar with the girl singer.
I really should pick back up with AI just to hear all the great voices that DO sing even tho they don't win, perhaps I'll go back to watching steady once they get to their top ten. I never could get into the auditions, altho some of them are great fun to watch, especially when either a nutcase gets in there or when after lots of doldrums a singer steps up and stuns the judges! I myself was a big Adam Lambert fan, and while he didn't win, it was fun to catch him on Ellen sometimes singing, like, "What Do You Want From Me," which his live performance is much better than the recording of that one. I keep thinking he's going to really rise up, but he's just kind of simmering, altho it's wild to see him on a Red Carpet somewhere!
And I rememer the first season vividly, I was crazy about Rubin. Clay Aiken, number two, was mighty good too, and since I'm from NC, of course I was a fan. But Rubin, poor guy, he had quite a time after AI was over. Seems like his manager or somebody stole his money, and somehow or other he was mishandled by his people and his career just stopped. I hope one day he, too, will finally be the breakout singer he deserves to be. And I have an Oprah story on Rubin, if you all haven't heard it. She said her girlfriend Gayle was big on that first season of AI, and the night of the final vote, she called Oprah late in the evening, which O was not into AI, and Gayle starts the call to Oprah, "Puuullleeeeeeez you GOTTA call and vote for Rubin," in a voice of extreme dread and concern, as if it were a life and death thing. Well, it WAS a life and death thing for all us AI fans!
So, SHEILA, I hope you will do this again next year, and I'll pick up with the final ten, and I'll watch at least one audition thing, and I'll look in this Growing Friendships section and join with the chit-chat here partway through! Sounds like SO much fun! I do dearly love music. On my computer, husband set up playlists for us and downloaded a bunch of songs, and now every day I get my selections going and really enjoy listening to MY KINDA MUSIC all the time, even things I never heard of. And I used to listen to music in the living room all the time, for years, and I knew who all the big artists were and everything. Now I know nothing. Maybe you all can clue me in on the top five music groups going on right now, so I can try to get back into it? I'm kinda confined to my home, not only the whole cancer routine, but was disabled before that from a car wreck. So, these are the kinds of things I like, home activities.
Right now, in case anyone's interested and has actually read this far into one my usual type of sermons, I've been listening to... get this... "Love Theme" by Vangelis from the movie "Blade Runner." Yup, it's fabulous, albeit old. And I like hearing harp sounds and bell sounds like are in the old "New Age" music, "Spirit of the Storm" by Roland Tseng (whoever the hell that is), sorry these are obscure. More recognizable are my choices of Seal, I like "Secret," and a lot of other stuff by him. I cannot believe he and Heidi Klum broke up, someone must have been unfaithful and I'm betting it was Seal. Anybody know the story behind that split?
I still like U2, John Mayer, and the older Dave Mathews Band, The Boss...anyone remember "I'm On Fire" I guess is the title, and the song goes, "Freight train running thru the middle of my head" it's about Vietnam Vets..., and I still listen to some of Bob Dylan, "Most of the Time" one of my all-time favs, album came out in the 1990s, beginning of the second side. That has become a catch phrase around our household, like when I apologize to husband for something, I'll say, "You know I love you... most of the time," and then we laugh. Oh, gosh, I'm so selfish, talking about all this crap that nobody is interested in.
Well, I'm with you guys now on the finale, it'll be something else, and like someone said here on the last couple pages, I WONDER WHAT THEY'LL SING??? Anybody know what their potential "list" of subjects might be? What do you all think Phillip should sing, and the girl, too, if you could choose? Thanks for listening to my self-indulgent sing-song-along, everyone, and forever love to my sisters always, Gail

Hi Mimi, it'll be good to have you with us, hope PP picks some really good songs to show how talented he is.
-
Tonight, tells all!!!
-
Teka...I think tomorrow night will tell us more......
Hey Renee....
Karen......
Asian Community is doing everything in their power for Jessica to win..I think it's more than a honor thing.........we can't change the outcome
I'm with PP all the way...♥
-
Plus I think Josh's fanbase is more likely to go to Jessica than PP. Wonder who they will sing with? I just hope they pair PP with someone with a similar style--wonder if Dave Matthews is available??
-
cmbear....Are they doing duets?
if yes...i have to go and investigate it
-
I think that is tomorrow night. Tonight they will be singing a season favorite that Nigel Lythgoe picks, a song choice of Simon Fuller, and his or her new single--if they win. I read an article that Nigel said he had wanted Josh to win. So I guess producers don't always get their way. . .
-
Vote tonight.
-
Hello!! Ooooohh, a white shirt!
