I am new on here and have BC stage II. Have any of you experienced pain from the tissue expander? Especially the part where the valve or opening not sure what you call it is at? I have been experiencing a lot of pain right in that area. I'm not sure if my body is rejecting it or if this is normal. Any insight would be appreciated.

Alma. not sure when you had the surgery.  The TE's were really uncofmtable for me the first few weeks, then it subsided.  The best thing for me initially were muscle relaxers (more so than pain killers).  Things settled down to a dull roar after than and I got used to it.  Have you had any fills yet?

One general thought, if you are like me, you sort of feel like you are being needy when you call the BS/PS/onco, etc - you are not!  If there is something stressing you, get it checked out - stress is probably worst for impacting the healing process than anything!  Good luck!  There are reconstruction threads to check out.

I just have muscle pain from the actually expansion that is being done.  The expander itself does not seem to cause pain.  Might be something you would want to share with your PS.  I have had mine in since 4/9/12 and they seem to be fine. Good luck.

    Hi AlmaGloria,

You might find it helpful to also post in the Reconstruction forum to find others who are experiencing what you are.

    Hope this helps!

I had my surgery April 25,2012. After physical therapy that's when this pain started. I'm seeing my plastic surgeon right now and is going to open the cut again to see what is going on in there. I havent had any fills yet.
