Thanks for the Halle Berry photo. The idea of my looking anything like the divine Halle is pretty funny, but I do like that hairdo.
-
lago, I love the Halle hair, but now that mine's coming in and I've ditched the scarves...I have come to realize that my neck is huge! I look like a starting linebacker for the Bears.
Ossa, thanks for the laugh, but I think your hair looks great!
Born, I also lost brows and lashes after chemo. Hopefully they won't be gone for long. Thanks for the image of the hot flash and oil. funny! I too remember how excited I was to shave my legs for the first time. I have to say that now I'm just annoyed.
-
Re the Halle Hair.
I was saying to a GF a while back that I wish I had one of those faces that would suit "Halle" hair. I don't LOL! But I would still be gratefull for it at this point. I haven't had short hair since I was 6 and I begged for a pixie cut in the 60's. Since my mid 30's I've always kept it shoulder length. Ahhh shoulder length hair...... or just hair for that matter. I comfort myself with the hope that like alot of women before me, their hair seems more lovely a year down the road than it did before TX.
-
SOOOO funny Ossa! If I put a picture of me first thing in the morning next to Don King, we'd be twins! Luckily after I was it, it lays down. 10 months PFC - 4" long and I made a tiny little pony tail in back!!!! (My hair dresser hasn't cut anything, but suggested I get a fake pony tail to add to the back after I pull it up to the baby pony tail). I guess it really is started to look mulletish!
-
I'm one year PFC now and I had my first hair cut about 6 weeks ago. I didn't want it cut since it took so long to grow but it helped to shapen it up and the curls are not as curly now. It's funny but I have friends who look at me and tell me how much they love my hair and seem so surprised by their own statements. I even have people I don't know tell me what beautiful hair I have and how lucky I am to have just the right amount of curls. I never know what to say and have a hard time responding but inside I'm thinking of the strangers' comments like "If you only knew what I had to go through to get this". Someday I'll get up the nerve to ask my friends why they stare so much. I really don't get it but I'm so thankful, grateful and happy that my hair has grown back in at all. I was so afraid I would be someone whose hair never grew back so for all of you worrying avbout your hair, it takes time but the end result will get there sooner or later. I never miss a day without looking in the mirror and being grateful. I wish I could put on a photo but I've never been able to figure it out b ut it doesn't matter. I just wanted to give you all some hope who are still waiting for their hair to grow.

Ok when I washed my hair the curls were back
so the keratin treatment did not help. My bangs are to the top of my eyes. I just wish I could do something with these curls
-
ksmatthews… get product. I didn't get chemo curls but others here should be able to recommend what they used to tame the poodle
-
I can tame mine somewhat with super-hold mousse and macadamia oil. I have a very small diameter round brush and use it with the blow dryer to pull it out straight. Not perfect, but it does help.
-
I use mousse only and either let it air dry or a warm dryer because if it's any hotter it will blow it every which a way. The mousse allows it to be controlled.
-
I've been using two products with some success with curls -- Got 2 Be Glued and Bedhead Control Freak. The best thing I've done is get the poodle hair cut off while the top grows out. Looks much better and is much easier to tame.
Btw, here's a shout out to whoever mentioned the MAC eyebrow pencil. I have very light brows that even the lightest pencils look too dark on, but this one is perfect and very easy and natural looking. -
I have been using the got to be glued products, the back is just unmanagable. When I look in the mirror from the front I LOVE my hair, but when I look at the back I hate it! The top and sides are straight, but the back is super curly, the curls go out instead of down.
-
Ksmatthews I tried an at-home Keratin treatment too (mine was called Keratin Earth) and had the same result. It was great the day I used it but the straightening was gone the next time I washed my hair:( Oh well!
By the way, I have been using a tiny 1/2" straightening iron that I found at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It's narrow enough to use on my short hair so I straighten it every day now. It takes me about 30 minutes to flatten all of it which is more time that I really want to spend but I'm much happier with how it looks after flat ironing the curl out.
-
Auntie, so glad the MAC pencil worked for you.
-
Dragonfly on humid days the cowlick in my bangs can get a little wierd. I too bought one of those tiny curling irons. I got mine at TJMaxx.

Had my "haircut" yesterday.. Had my hairdresser shape my hair in hopes it will grow out nicer, was hard to see the little bit of hair on the cape as I have waited so long for it to grow.. Hairdresser said my natural colour is starting to come back in woohoo. But there are patches yup he said patches of completely white hair still..
.. Hope that will change.. Don't mind some grey mixed in, but do mind patches of white
Feeling much better today. Only some heaviness in my new foob, getting used to it though. Stitches pulling on my lifted side.. Signs of healing happening.. Think another week off work should be good then back to reality.. Going to enjoy another gorgeous day here.
-
Ossa...the sun is a great healer (in moderation of course). I am going to work in my long neglected garden and get it enjoyable again. Happy weekend!
Next weekend we are entertaining our long time friends from BC...they moved to BC to retire because of the weather....I am having a good time teasing them that ours is better.
Congrats on the new hairdo....I am still waiting for enough to get cut altho I do trim the back and sides.

23 weeks PFC
OK, I think I may have figured out how to post a pic... These were taken today, 23 weeks PFC.
-
Mizmarie.. Looking good.. You have more hair thaan I have also looks longer and thicker,, My hair is quite thin ...Are you on Herceptin??
-
Thank, Ossa... I do have a lot of hair, but it's really short - I'd happily trade some of the thickness for more length! It's only about 1.5 inches, less than that in the front, and it has taken over 5 months to get to that point. I'll be done with Herceptin in mid-August, and I'm hoping the growth will speed up after that.
-
MizMarie: Your hair looks great and I love the rich color &shine!
I can't wait to have that much hair.
Is the color from the wash-in color you had mentioned? -
Thanks Ella! Yes - the brand is Garnier Herbashine. I used "copper mahogany brown", which is pretty close to my natural color. It is supposed to last 28 shampoos. I shampoo every day, and it really lasts only about 3 weeks.
-
Mizmarie - looks great! Love the color! Can't wait till I have some hair!
-
MizMarie
Lookin good!!! I was just checking my head (like do 10 times a day LOL) The fuzzies just stand straight like I have static or something.
-
MizMarie, You and your hair look wonderful.
-
Hey Mizmarie, aren't you looking cute!
-
GREAT looking hair Mizmarie. I only have a five o'clock shadow right now.
I got the Anastasia eyebrow stencil kit from Sephora. It is AMAZING. I really like it and you can pick whatever shape eyebrow you want. It comes for in two colours - light and dark. Works really well. My eyebrows are barely coming back in so I feel better just having the kit on hand for when I need to have my eyebrows on.
-
mismarie your hair look beautiful! It will grow before you know it.
Well I have not cut my hair except for one time about 4 month PFC and it is now 17 months PFC. I now have really frizzy split ends. I was looking so good but the humidity really brings out the frizz.I still really like my hair now though way better than before.
So I made an appointment for tuesday with my salon to get a trim and go to their spring fling to see all the new products. I am even getting an airbrush tan. I am going to research color options and makeup. I am now allergic to purple and some blue eyeshadows which both look really good on me but make my eyes all red.
So I am really nervous about cutting my hair but I know it will look better without the frizz.
-
Hi ladies, Ossa and MizMarie, you guys look great!!
I had my first cut a few weeks ago. I was starting to feel like I had a mullet since the back and sides grew faster in the beginning. I am still gray, and keeping it.
My question is on eyelashes. I am using Latisse and have been since the beginning of March. My lashes are long and about the same as they were before all this started, but.... on my right eye, right smack in the middle, they grow in.... and fall out again. Even with Latisse!!! Thank goodness for individual fake lashes! Has anyone else experienced this? grrrrr
-
Hi ladies, I am going on 9 wks PFC and see some hair regrowth on the sides of my head and a bit on the top. My question is on the #%^> brows. I lost my brows sometime in Feb and they haven't returned! Neither have the eyelashes but they don't bother me as much. What is the story with eye hair? I understood it was on a three month cycle but it has been more than three months. I have some very faint colored growth on the one eye and absolutely nilch on the other. I know I hear alot about latisse but I wonder if I cannot get regrowth without adding another product into my system. Also I don't know where I would get it in my small town.
Please help me! For some reason the eye hair bothers me more than the head hair. -
Does anyone have a noticeable dent in the hair at the back of their head (base of my skull actually)? Mine looks like I just removed a ball cap? Really weird...
Whatashock... I am 15 weeks PFC and my eyebrows are still not all there...they grow about halfway across and all over the place...no shape...my eyelashes are almost normal tho!
