10 cm tumor, has anyone else had one this big?
I'm scared and I am just waiting to see the onc for my first visit. I can't see him for 10 more days. This waiting is hard on me. Don't know about nodes yet. Just know its IDC er+pr+ her2- and big!

Dear lightandwind,
I was just diagnosed today and I know mine is big too, er positive, IDC, grade 2.
I heard because of the size I need chemo before masectomy. I am still in shock.
Scared. Pam -
Hello, Just wanted to send hugs of support to both of you! None of this is pleasant, but waiting is really difficult.
I will also say that I'm not above begging & cajoling and getting other doctors to use their influence for appointments. I tell the truth, that I'm really worried, and often a sympathetic scheduler seems to magically find an opening.

P.S. - somewhere on the boards, there was a thread about tumor size and there are plenty of women who had large ones, and I might add, are doing fine after treatment!

This is a good point. Sometime the schedulers can work their magic. I've found that being super nice helps. So does making an effort to connect with them as human beings. i.e. While they are scanning the schedule, if I'm in the right mood, I might say, "how are you surviving this heat?" (or whatever). It works much better than getting angry and being demanding. (my old MO. ha)

I had a 9 cm breast tumor and 10 cm brain tumor and here I am! Keep the faith! All the best.

I also am a fan of begging (nicely).. I got my radiologist to get me an appt the next day to the BS, after refusing to leave unbiopsied without an appt... this BS usually is booked for weeks in advance. Either they were worried about my lump or felt bad for me. Either way, I got the appt.
To explain, I had a MAmmo/US on a Tues... went Thursday for a biopsy and when they heard I hadn't met with the surgeon yet, they did not want to do the biopsy.. Isaid I was either getting the biopsy or they needd to get me an appt ASAp with the surgeon... so I got the appt.
