oh i am sorry for you.. good luck you will be ok..sending hugs your way.
i though it had something with the drugs and surgery why i was sweating so much..i have had surgeries before and never experienced any sweating just thought it was strange..
-
Geez, night sweats on top of everything else. Keo, sorry for the new surgery and rads. Good to hear from you rtnyc!
My spasms have slowed since I asked for only a 1/2 fill last week (60 rahter than 120 cc). Made a huge difference. And I began doing some streching exercises, very slowly because I am afraid to move my arms too much. Although, was tempted to accept a challenge to arm wrestle my 13 year old son tonight, but I decided to be mature and decline. Valium is considered a better muscle relaxant than Xanax (stays in you system longer, or so I was told).
Off to the office tomorrow...Should I go to bed now?!?
-
Keonghi - I start radiation tomorrow. Not looking forward to it.
-
My BS laughed at me today because I just couldn't quite understand that I am cancer free now. The last six months have been so crazy that it's just so weird that I'm cancer free!
After reading my path report they did take an axillary node to test. I was hoping she hadn't because of lymphedema. -
Keonghi, sorry about the nodes , I will pray for you .
I too have had night sweats and i am 3 weeks post BMX today , I go for my PS appt today for fill , I am anxious and scared . I am more upset because i swear something is wrong with my left TE and i gotta confess to hm i smoked . I am very saddend by that mess up with cigarettes , and i need to get back to work no matter what so i pray he gives me a note today . my financial situation has placed me in a very dark sad place . but I am amazed at the support and all my new friends iz have found here . I love you all , Hugs to you all and everyone have a wonderful day
-
Markat - cancer free!!! Woohoo!!!
Lisamarie, please don't beat yourself up. You have been through so much. We all want you to be healthy and quitting smoking is part of that. Make sure he knows your financial situation and how important it is to you that you work. You want to come out on the other side healthier than you went in, right? Baby steps.
Mardibra - good luck today!
It's weird - I started having night sweats about six months before I found my lump. I woke up drenched. I thought I might be heading for menopause, but I do wonder if my body was telling me something. I haven't had them since the surgery.
-
Vball mom thanks so much , I am going to tell him everything , I feel so sad to have even let him down , he has called me his mirical because he wanted me 3 weeks nicotine free before surgery and i was 6 .. I thought I had the not smoking thing down .. now I gotta be back on nicotine patches ..
-
Hi all
Dianarose I was putting nicotine patches on both arms and on my back, after surgery I only used my right arm and my back.
Lisamarie there's been lots of times when I nearly started smoking again. The other week I just about had a smoke and the next day I found out that my sister had given up then I was glad that I hadn't started again, especially the same week that she stopped.
I came home early from work again today, you don't realise how much it takes out of you.
-
Lisamarie you have been through a lot so your PS will not be shocked. Atleast you made it this far! I keep thinking it's a good thing I still can't drive because I might not be able to keep quit. You can do this!
I have night sweats from chemo at 30. It totally sucks. I keep thinking its going to be a long hot summer lol. -
whats a couple of cigarettes? You can quit again. Mini relapse. Chin up girl!
-
Mardibra
Good luck w rads today.
Let us know how you did -
lisamarie, Addictions are so hard to get a handle on......my addiction is to sweets like ice cream, cookies, chocolate.....My whole immediate family smoked and I've seen them struggle to quit. At least you made it 6 weeks....now you know you can do it! I've learned in my weight loss battle that I can't kick myself for slipping up. I just have to shake myself and crawl right back up on the wagon and hold on tight. The same works for smoking. Don't beat yourself up. You are only human and have gone through so much in the last few months. Pat yourself on the back and get back on board. We are pulling for you!
I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up a few hours later drenched. I've been waking up in the middle of the night because I'm too hot. There might be something to that idea that our bodies are getting rid of toxins or our hormones are just all messed up because of the trauma our bodies have gone through recently. I'm going on tamoxifen so I guess I better get used to those hot flashes and embrace them. The Rad Onc did say that the first thing she recommends is 1000mg vitamin C and then there are some antidepressants that work to control hot flashes if the vitamin C doesn't work.

I haven't posted in a while, but I do read almpst every day. Add me to the night sweats club - I did chemo before surgery & was shoved into chemopause so I'd had some experience with them, but they definitely were much worse after my UMX. I'm 3 weeks out and they seem to be tapering off a bit - not every night and not totally soaking. I have a pair of those cooling wicking pajamas from Soma.com and while they do dry off, I think they make me hotter and sweat more so now I'm just wearing a cotton camisole & undies to bed. Gap had these soft cotton camisoles with no built-in bra on sale so I picked up a few last week.
I'll be doing radiation once my fills are done - I think my last one is next week - good luck today mardibra!
-
that makes sense that out bodies are reaction through hormones.. but i sweat so much get drenced it wakes me up have to change and try to get back to sleep
-
Keonghi - I'm so sorry to hear that you have to have surgery again. My margins were close, too. Even closer actually. No radiation though since I have this TE. It's off to Chemoland for me starting Friday. I'll be thinking of you and sending you positive healing thoughts. At least you know what to expect from surgery and that you're capable of getting through it. Let us know th date of our ALND so we can keep you on our thoughts that day. And that's a very interesting theory you have about the post-surgical sweats. I am perimenopausal and was stable for quite a while, but lately I can't seem to get the right temperature. Either I'm too hot or too cold. It could also be this rainy yet occasionally muggy weather that passes for springtime in NYC.
Rtnyc - Thanks for the tip about LGFB! I've already looked them and booked a date. It's just what I needed. Hoping that that numbness goes away quickly. Wondering if some kind of restorative yoga might help. There are books and DVDs about gentle moves you can do that are specifically geared toward BC and other cancer survivors.
Markat - That's great to hear. Any good news on the cancer journey is welcomed! I hear some folks get a little nervous about neoadjuvant therapy because they never know where they started so to speak, but the way I see it, what matters is where you end and cancer-free is where it's at!
-
Hi ladies , PS was not mad at me at all he actually gave me a big hug and a kiss and said its okay . He said I looked great and was healing like a teenager .. wow and i thought something was wrong .. however i did not like the needles i felt them , and i could only take in 40 cc each side . he also informed me i didnt get any fill during surgery so this was the first . he doent fill at surgery . i am sore again but my right side hurts all way to my wrist . so i had to give in and take a percocet .. yuck !!! hate those things but it is easing my discomfort and he gave me a note to return to work , so i am praying they have days they can give me to ease my financial frustration .. hope everyones day went well . I am going to try to rest now .Hugs
-
lisamarie, So glad everything went OK! Hugs always help us feel better! Hope the pain eases. I'm actually doing OK with just minor discomfort and I just keep thinking that the discomfort is my body healing itself. Get some rest and feel better!
-
I am curious about the night sweats. I had night sweats before my lumpectomy that they removed my surprise idc then again after my separate lymph node biopsy. Not only that but the sweats had a strange odor-not like bo but something different. I had my dmx and no nodes removed a couple weeks ago and haven't had any sweats at all. Wonder if it has anything to do with the nodes or the cancer.
-
floridamomandwife,
i am going to ask my ps and bs when i have my next appointments.. i thought it was from the drugs i was taking especially at the hospital .. i didnt notice any odor but i will have to look for that.. i have no idea just know it can be a pain in the rear..
-
Lisamarie, that's awesome that your PS hugged you. Physicians could stand to be more affectionate, at least for the patients who want and need that. I would think that it's good for them, too. After all, doctors are people, too, and working with folks who are struggilng through health problems has to take its toll after a while.
-
Cityfi, omg the plastic surgeon i have is the most amazing compassionate man ive ever met . not only do i get hugs he kisses me on my head .. its very nice he really does care . I am glad to have him . xoxoxo
-
I had mad night sweats after I started chemo. I've always chalked it up to chemo-pause. Still have mild night sweats but nothing too bad.
First radiation appt today. Easy peasy. Sort of like an X-ray. One down, 34 more to go.
A doctor that hugs? That sounds nice! -
i am not having chemo, thank god.. but still have the sweats.. ugh
-
Keonghi, mso sorry re nodes and more surgery/rad... Thinking of u! God luck to all of u starting chemo. On nightsweats... I am right there with u! But have been in peri menopause for so long...am used to it! I am bumming about TEs. I really hate them! There is not a minute in the day except when I am not sleeping or slouching that I don't feel like a boa constrictor is living in my chest, actually, when I focus on the fact that ii is my distended pectoral muscle, it actually makes me nauseous. So I try not to focus, I have worked so hard to be upbeat for the past2.5 months. I think I am starting to sink down for the first time. I am so eternally grateful to be healthy...I feel guilty complaining. I just hate how I feel now. Ugh!!! I
-
i hear ya.. i feel uncomfortable with the te as well. only sometimes though.. hope it gets better soon.
-
Ok I'm in the night sweat club too, post menopausal and now post surgery.........reminds me of when I first gave birth. Lisa Marie I admire your honesty with your Dr. I had a relasp and never said a word. I too think I got to start patches or gum. It sucks but when I look at how long I went without, gettng back on the band wagon won't be as hard. ( I hope)
What is everyones average fill. Mine is 35ml 3x week and today he said he did not want to fill me because of my radiated breast and lack of skin. So I don't know if I'm gonna get to that small C. I'm curious if anyone of you are done with fills and did you not get to your desired size. The fills Ihave had really hurt like crazy exspecially by my armpit by the chest.
For all of you starting your chemo and rad treatments my prayers. This too shall pass. A little advise for nausia......Real natural Gingerale.
-
Hi everyone,
RTNYC, I have same pain. Clothes rubbing against my skin even hurts. RO, will start radiation next week, prescribed a nerve medication which I have not filled yet. Hope everyone has a good nights sleep! -
I have a towel on my bed which helps with the sweats. Also keep a shirt nearby in case I have to change in the middle of the night. I started having hot flashes during chemo.
-
Hubby and I were housecleaning last night when I got stung by a wasp! I was in my bedroom of all places. Darn thing was in my clean laundry and stung me in the neck. Jeez, like I haven't been poked and stuck enough in the last month? I was furious!!!
I am having my 3-week follow-up visit with BS today. He's been away and hasn't seen me since the UMX.
Miranda - good tips about the night sweats. I tend to be too lazy to get up in the middle of the night! I am sick of things touching my skin, too. I went and bought a few really soft camisoles and they do help some.
-
Good luck to all of you starting rads soon. My mother had DCIS when I was in high-school and I remember her going through radiation and her poor skin. Make sure you use the creams they suggest and exercises to avoid the lymphedema and cording.
Did any of your PS's rx just a muscle relaxer instead of all pain pills or Valium? I just think it would be better than the other stuff.
