Hi Girls,

Well I did it!  I made it through the whole weekend and am doing OK.  The 3am wake up call on Saturday was probably the roughest, especially since we always stay the night before in the Event Eve hotel which always has super posh beds.  What a tease that is.  Our Rest Stop worked from that time until about 6 that night (we were piggy backed up the route to help other Rest Stops then the Traffic Team back at the Wellness Village), so needless to say that night I was VERY tired!  We actually had a beautiful night to camp, although I have to say my hips weren't too happy about laying on the hard ground.  We got to "sleep in" until 5am Sunday, then off to our new location on the route, to Download to return equipment, etc, then Closing Ceremonies on the grounds of the Washington Monument.  My first Walk in as a SURVIVOR!  I kept it together pretty much the whole weekend, but did boo hoo when my beautiful daugter and her Youth Crew Team came marching in behind us, and SHE was crying!  WAHHH!!!

I truly feel like although sometimes we worry about where all this money goes that if it hadn't been for this Walk, I may not be here today.  I thought of all of you ladies along the way, as well as my sisters that have gone to the other side.  I pray that one day there will be no need for these types of Walks, and it was encouraging to hear the oncologist from Johns Hopkins say they are seeing less metastatic disease now because of earlier detection.  That IS good news.

So, I'll be posting pics on Facebook later for anyone interested.  And thank you all for your support!

Love,

Sharon Smile

What an experience, Sharon. I used to walk a lot (did a half-marathon just before my dx), but definitely couldn't do it now. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
