Anemia during Chemo?

I saw this topic going back to read past comments from 2008.  I would love to start this up again to ask what, if anything, does anemia have to do with survival stats.  To begin with, the 2008 thread said it affected outcomes for "early BC".  But I could not find the actual study that was used -- only a link to an article on this website.  I would think lots of bc patients get anemia and/or infection due to the low resistance to viruses during chemo.  Would love to hear from anyone 'in the know' -- including nurses...  thanx

I suffered from anemia during my last 2 rounds of TCH.  My regret is my Onc wanted to do a transfusion after my 4th treatment to bump up my counts and help me along.  I resisted as I thought it just seemed so gross and gave me the creeps.  After the 5th treatment, I ended up in the hospital from dehydration, fainting many times from low blood pressure, as well as low potassium and sodium.  I felt like I was dying.  My advice to others is that they don't recommend transfusions unless a patient REALLY needs one - so get it and help yourself a little.
