I say yes, you say no, OR People are Strange
Comments

Are you kidding me. Why?
-
So that people know what is going on in her life.
I would worry about security if it was my baby.
-
I have a colleague whose kitty has a Facebook page. I just don't understand the lure of Facebook.
-
Susie-I don't have any grandchildren, but I know it must be very hard to be so far away from them. They grow up so fast.
I have a couple of friends whose pets have facebook pages. Not really sure why.

I think it's adorable but to tell you the truth I can justify Facebook more for pets than humans. But then I'm a privacy freak with a family hx of being the target of espionage, so my view is admitedly skewed. :-)
ETA the word "freak." :-)
-
My friends have really boring facebook pages. The teenagers in my sister's family are even sort of boring. Then again...perhaps it's just me.

-
I resisted Facebook for a long time but have to admit that I like it. I have sisters, nieces and nephews and other family in other states and it's a good way to get little snippets of their lives and keep in touch. Doesn't have to be 'interesting' stuff really ... just a note about something lets you know they are OK and you can make an equally boring comment to acknowledge them
Doesn't replace the phone or a visit but I do feel more connected since I joined. I am careful about how much information I share on there though.I'll admit that among my online 'friends' are Max aka Psychokitty and his brother cat Buddah Pest. I'm easily amused

notself - welcome back!
-
Home from visiting my mother - managed to behave myself. I bought her a new TV with a built in DVD player - only 24" but enough for her needs. Wrote her out instructions on how to play DVD's - the book didn't tell you, I had to figure it out myself after quite a few f words. She loves it. I left early using the excuse we are invited to a party over the back (that part is true but not sure if I'll go). Been up since 4:15am - a nap would be nice.
Still no photo!!! I just texted her with that message.
Bought another thing for the baby while I was out with Mum - that postal bag is going to be heavy on Tuesday. At least it's all non breakble so I can post it in a plastic bag.
-
Apparently photos coming tonight. She's set up a draft email on her laptop and he will send it when he gets home and they have internet access.
-
Rosemary - so sorry to hear about your friend. You have been in my thoughts for days now.
Susie - congrats on being a grandma.
I remember cloth diapers - used them on my nephew and yes....I used the pins. So many things have changed in the last 30 years.
I went to a Kentucky derby party and won $20 - My investment was $5 so I netted $15. Then off to a friends house and cooked them cheese fondue for dinner. I over ate for sure but dang that stuff goes down so easy and is delicious. I could eat cheese fondue every single week.
Tomorrow my dh returns from Houston. I will see him for 3 hours before he falls asleep and then he will be leaving very early Monday morning and will be gone all next week. I guess I will be spending extra time with my horsey.
-
Just went and made an appearance at the party over the back and to excuse us since we have been up since 4:15. You wouldn't believe it - my fish guy was there - his little girl goes to school with one of the kids nearby. Met his wife - really really nice lady. I am too tired to be bothered, but if I get a second wind after dinner I can always go back over. Besides I want fish for dinner and they are cooking a big lump of meat. A guy I went to school with 40 years ago will also be there - now we went to school in another city and I bumped into him at a party they had over the back on New Year's Eve 2000 - haven't seen him since, but it was a really strange coincidence. All I can hear now is kids squealing - they are so cute.
Waiting with bated breath for pics of Nicholas -
Susie, we wait wih you.
-
Still bloody waiting - not acceptable - useless idiot (SIL). We spoke to her earlier and said he was going to send them when he got home. It's nearly 10pm here and they are half an hour behind us. It's been 48 hours since he was born - I told her I'm one Cranky Nana. She said they are sending 19 pics.
Called my mother to check if the TV was still working and she loves it - glued to it. The thing she had was a big old honky thing with a crappy picture and sound. I'm pleased to have done something nice for her for once and it only cost me $200.
The party over the back is still going on. Not too noisy but I'll close the back french doors before I go to bed which will help keep noise out.
Glorious weather here - 25 C today and will be 12 C tonight. Will be the same all week.
Sleepy and impatient Susie

-
Given up - going to bed - sigh.
-
Still waiting - what a dope.
Cranky Nana
-
susieq58, We're all waiting with you!
It has been such a nice relaxing weekend. I need more like this one.
-
She said she attached 19 photos to the one email, so I'm not surprised it didn't arrive or he was too selfish/dumb to bother to send it. I'm calling myself Cranky Nana because there are signs all over my work place (in the toilet, the kitchen everywhere) from a lady called Cranky Nana - telling us not to use too much toilet paper and to clean up our mess in the kitchen - I hate them and want to tear them all down. Our other floors don't have them, they were put there by a woman who was managing the resources for a previous project. We're adults we should not need to reminded not to block the toilet or wash our dishes.
-
Keeping rant to self today -edited. :-)
-
Ok - he sent the email and it said it sent ok, but I reckon it wasn't delivered as it was too large. Now I've emailed him explaining he should just send a couple - here's hoping.
-
Do any of you threadmates still smoke?
I celebrated my 3 year anniversary of not smoking just over a week ago.....and I've entered some of my "pearls of wisdom" on the following thread:
http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/6/topic/786615?page=1#idx_17
If the resources and web sites help ONE cancer patient quit, it would be great... Soon I will post any and all studies I can find linking smoking to BC - the link is still tenuous because it is still relatively unstudied. Not much is known but there is evidence of nicotine receptors possibly playing a role.
But as I say in the OP - smoking and BC are two assassins of the same Mob Family (ovarian/lung cancer). If you can't get rid of one, at least try to vanquish the other...
Hoping to end this day on a productive note. Not holding breath...
-
Finally!!! Goodness knows why the email took so long to arrive - this was the most decent one - most were just after the birth. He looks so little.

-
Awwweeeee!
-
I know - I want to jump on a plane and go down there - will just have to wait. Just looked out our album of when Annie was born - she was the exactly same length 191/2" but 6oz heavier - she was 3 weeks early. One of the photos of her in hospital at 7 days looks remarkably similar.
Happy Nana
-
Oh, what a sweetie.
-
In case you are wondering why I haven't jumped on a plane - too expensive at such short notice. I booked months ago to go on 18th June for half the cost it would be today. Still it is tempting but I do have work I can't get out of right now.
-
Good girl Susie actually went on a bike ride this afternoon - the weather is SO glorious it was hard to say no. As usual Steve led me on a long journey but I managed much better and didn't complain. He kept going further along his hilly route and I came home by myself and I made it 2/3 up this street near home which is a gentle slope but a bugger to ride up - that's how far I used to be able to go. I was quite pleased with myself. I even stood up on the pedals on one hill and made it to the top without getting off. Back to work tomorrow - bummer - I do love long weekends.
-
What a sweet baby.
Congratulations on getting farther on the bike ride. I sure know how hard it is to get back to where we were before all this stuff.
-
Annie upset as Nicholas is jaundiced and they have him a special crib under uv light. She misses him. I googled it and they say 1/3 to 1/2 of babies end up jaundiced and they usually get better. Being premmie it was probably going to happen - poor bubby. Hope the uv light works and she can cuddle him again soon. I told her she has the rest of his life with him, a few days won't matter. She's extremely emotional today as her milk came in. Talking to me helped and she cheered up - it's good we are in phone contact.
I feel really great after the ride - makes a difference when it's not humid. Glorious weather this weekend and more predicted for the whole week.
-
susie, congrats on the baby! he is decidedly darling! good advice to your daughter though its hard to wrap your brain around when you are in the momment.
I stand with one foot on each side of the "where are the damned pictures" line? I am the mother who is absolutely HORRID at sending photos out to anyone. Oh we buy the school photos, we just can't seem to get them into the envelopes or even remember to hand them out when people visit. And emailing photos? don't even ask. At the same time, I can see that because of my poor example at sharing photos,
not to mention taking photos, I am destined someday to be the nana on the other side who has no photos of the newest grandbaby. Whoops! I shall be reaping what I sowed.
It is a glorious sunny day here and expected to hit the 70s for the first time this year. My one boss has developed a cold and isn't coming in. I cannot tell you how sickly I wish I was feeling! perhaps later in the day when I've gotten some work done. . . .
