     Hi all. Marybe, I just happened to pop in here today for a wee look & saw the pic of the cat you liked in Williamsburg. 

    He looks just like my puss, who is 12 years old & very cuddly & chatty (so chatty he's shut out in the laundry at night so he doesn't wake us).

    Here he is curled up in my daughters clarinet case- he loves to sleep in weird places...

    (he's one of many beasties we have, we've also got bunnies, sheep, alpacas, a pony, chooks etc....)

    Hello everyone! We have collected our new kitten from the breeder today and he is settling in wonderfully! I won my case for two kittens for company and immediately rang a breeder whose ad I had been sweating on for a week. Our new kitten is a blue tabby point Siamese who we have named Romeo as he is definitely a lover! I am going to try to post a photo of him soon - not quite sure on how to do that so would welcome tips on photo posting!!

    Romeo will be a playmate for Taji the red point boy who is still with his breeder till he is desexed this week. I may have to wait an extra week to pick him up as I have my DIEP operation coming up in a week! So happy I have a furry bedmate to recover with!!

    kt,  Love that yellow cat...it does look just like the one I was feeding.  I have been feeding the stray up the stree closer to my house every day and am hoping eventually she will become my porch cat.  The people who lived in the house she always hung out at moved so now she is just living on her own and there are several of us who feed her.  She is afraid of just about everything. She comes when I call, and she also knows my car as I often stop by to feed her on my way home from work,  but if anyone comes up the street or a car goes by, she will run for cover so I usually just stay and pet her or talk to her while she is eating so she gets to finish her dinner.

    Robyn,   Yes, for sure post pics of your new kittens.  Put your photos in PhotoBucket and then it is pretty easy to post.  I can tell you how once the pics are in there. 

    Kmc, Glad the surgery went well.

    Robyn, I have 2 Siamese also, a 5 yr.old and a 3 yr. old, wish I had gotten them at the same time as you did, there is a definite pecking order at our house.  Is yours very vocal?, I wonder if they both will be talkers?  Mine were great when I was recuperating, we all napped together, I know yours will be a comfort to you.  They are truly a distinctive personality, and I love it!

    Yay! Robin, for the fur baby. I am not a great photo poster, so someone will come along soon to help I am sure. Two kittens will be very entertaining! Hope your DIEP goes as smooth as possible.

    Marybe ... thank you got the pics.  They are so adorable.  I feel I could reach out and pet them.

    When I was in the rehab center following my surgery they had various dogs come through.  The second or third day I saw two little guys.  The number one reason for hip dislocation following surgery is bending over.  Without even thinking I was going to bend over to pet these little dogs.  The only think that stopped me was one was a puppy and she was trying to get him to sit instead of jumping up on people and I did not want to interfere with her training.  That is the ONLY think that stopped me from bending over!   Fortunately, the charge nurse was there and kindly picked them each up so I could pet them.  The various dogs I met there were the only thing that made me happy, truly happy.  I also met a St. Bernard (that I certainly did not have to bend over to pet) that was absolutely beautiful.  He made my whole day!

    Hi Karen - so nice you have Siamese babies too! What colors? Our little boy is not so vocal yet- he has a quiet little voice but as he has been home only a day I am sure he will soon be chatting loudly. He has attached himself firmly to my DD as she will play with him nonstop! Love their personality do much- whatever you are doing they need to be there joining in!

    Marybe -I have some photos in photobucket- if you give me a step by step to photo post in the forum I would be very appreciative!

    ROBYN,  Have photobucket with your pics open, but minimize it by clicking on the minus sign in the upper right corner.   Go to BCO and put your post on this thread and then minimize it as you did the photobucket.  Go to Photobucket and click onthe pic you want to post...I think it is right click, a list a things you can do with the photo come up, click on copy. If you left click the pick will come up larger, but right click is smaller. Then minimize this page again and go back to BCO....oh I forgot to tell you, the sites you have minimzed will be down on the bottom and you just go to whichever one you want to use and click on it and it will become large again.   Anyway, after you are back on BCO, click on the box you are posting in and then cllick on paste (it is much easier to do it this way than by using that tree that is for posting....I could NEVER do it that way) and a message will come up asking something like do you want to access this ( I will have to go back and do it to see what it says) and you click on yes to allow access...the message will come up and ask you again and once again click on yes and then your photo will show up.   If you have more than one pic to post, do the procedure again, but it goes faster on the 2nd photo.   I hope this works for you.   3jays taught me how to do it and amazingly I have not forgotten, but I may not be real good about explaining it.

    Robyn, I have two sealpoints, the 5 yr. old has darkened to almost a chocolate, the 3 yr. old is still a soft seal and cream, she is the talker of the two, I have been known to back and fourth converse with her, she always has the last word. The 5 yr. old Emma, only talks when her bowl is empty, Sophie talks when she is asking for something or is royally pissed off.  She is currently sitting between me and the keyboard, I am typing around her, and she is head butting for some hugging and stomach rubs.

     At  last Here is my new baby - a blue tabby point siamese callled Romeo. He has the deepest blue eyes and I am looking forward to showing him in a months time. It has been a long time since I have shown but will enjoy looking forward to something other than hospitals and tx.

    Robyn ... too adorable!  All my cats must have had some Siamese in them as they were all vocal!  My current cat gets in my face in the morning and meows as if to say "get up, get my wet food now!"  Sometimes he just licks my eyelid.  I know and he knows he's only going to take a bite of the wet food but he likes to know its there is he wants it!

    Oh wow, one of those cats with the big ears....I love the markings.

    Ginger, It USED to be three dogs and a cat, but I had to have poor George put to sleep in Sept.  He was such a good cat.   Think we figured out something for the cat up the street.  She is used to living outside, but the neighbor next to the house where the people moved has no objection to us feeding her at the side of his house and he said he will put out a bowl of water for her.  Cynthia and I will take food to her and also leave some there for him to put out and we are going to try to rig us some sort of shelter for her, which she may or may not use.   He has a dog which is why he doesn't want the cat and also he is not a real cat lover, but he has a good heart and doesn't mind helping us out in this way so at least it is something.   Everyone agrees it would be difficult to get her to come all the way down to my house....I am on one end and she was used to the house on the very end corner up the street....also there are lots of dogs on my end,,,,at least every other house and some with mutiple ones like me.    So at least this is a step in the right direction.  

    How are you doing post surgery, Kathy?

    Robyn, Romeo is so stately, he will show beautifully, I want another kitten going on in me. But I will refrain, I have my two babies.  He will be such a comfort to you!!

    Marybe ... you do a heart good!  Taking care of that poor cat is so loving.  Was he abandoned by his previous owners or was he always a stray?

    BTW, whenever I am eating something my cat Oliver will smell it and then turn his nose up at it.  Well, today I was eating some Coconut/Pineapple yogurt and, you guessed it, he loved it!

    Help please

    I took Stewiefor grooming yesterday. This AM I see him shaking his head so I call the vet. They say his ears were plucked which is normal but something caused severe inflamation in his ears. They are bloody looking, not all over but in ALL of the outer crevases.  Vet tech said it was the worst she has ever seen.

    Vet says it is mostly the outer areas where the hair was plucked and it could be somethiny used to aid in the plucking. Vet also did an ear swab and it showed bacteria, she said it can progrews very rapidly.

    He is on prednisone and Ceflex (doggie kind)  He was perfectly healthy when I took him for grooming.

    Both the vet and the vet tech asked where he had been groomed. It was a place I was referred to as grooming lots of poodles. The groomerI previously went to was booked solid for poodles for a month.

    Grrr, I don't know what to think!  Didn't they sterilize their tools? What did they use in his ears.

     Poor Stewie is right!  I would most definitely make that grooming place pay for any of the problems the dog has since he was fine when he went in there.  If they don't co-operate tell them you are going to report what happened to Angie's List (think that is what it is called where businesses are written up as being good or bad) or that you are going to put it all over Face Book.  I am sure bad publicity is not something they need, but it would not be slander since it is true.  You took a healthy dog in there and came home with one who has an ear infection.   I hope he gets better fast, Ginger.

    A woman I work with took her dog in to be groomed and then next morning he would yelp if you tried to touch him and he had a hard time walking.  The vet said he had sprained something and he was fine when he went to the groomer so they figure he must have fallen off the table or they jerked him a certain way, but something happened.  Of course the grooming place said nothing happened, but he was fine when he went in.

    Last September, the met in either my spine or my hip caused terrible nerve pain on the side of my thigh.  It would wake me up at night feeling like someone was pouring hot oil on my leg.  My Sadie Puppy (actually a nine year old Lab Chow mix) slept upstairs with my hubby and I slept downstairs.  I would wake up screaming from the pain, Sadie would jump on my husband to make sure he heard me and then she would run as fast as she could to sit by my bed and look at me like her heart was breaking.  As soon as my husband got downstairs, she would move out of the way so that he could help me.  After it would subside, she would lay by my bed until I fell back to sleep... it was the sweetest thing.  Thank goodness, radiation shrunk that tumor and the pain went away.

    BarbRocks, what a beautiful story, brought tears to my eyes.  They certainly do know when something is wrong and are right there to give you love and protection.  I think Labs are especially in tune to what mama is feeling!

    Hi fellow pet lovers. Even though I have a really good prognosis re my BC, it has naturally made me think about my eventual death and what I would like done. I have told all my family that my wish is to be buried with the ashes of my best friend, Jilly 6 yo Border Collie. She is still very much alive and its all a very long way off for both of us hopefully, but which ever one of us goes first, get cremated and then when both are gone, mix ashes together and plant us somewhere.

    I've had dogs all my life and have loved them all for their uniqueness. They give me so much joy. It would be a joyless world without them I think.

    I used to work for an animal sanctuary that was located in a pet cemetary.  You could be buried with your pet but only if you were cremated.  The pets could be buried but people had to be cremated.  One rather large miniature castle had the dogs buried inside with the ashes of their owners guarding the front of the castle.  It is quite a famous cemetary as all of J. Edgar Hoover's dogs are buried there as is Petey (the dog from "LIttle Rascals." )  In addition to many other kinds of animals we had sheep and goats who took care of the mowing in the cemetary and all of the tree branches within reach of a standing goat! We had fresh eggs everyday.  We didn't have any of the larger animals like cows or horses but we did have cats, dogs, chinchillas, rabbits, pigs chickens, roosters, ducks, geese and turkeys.  It was the best job!
