I know that in the past some of you have posted about sites that help with calorie counting etc but of course I never took note of the web addresses. I am looking for a site where I can log what I eat and that it will tell me how many calories and the amount fat etc that I am consuming. I need to assess how I can cut my calorie intake, without being hungry, and increase my activity level in order to kick start some weight loss again. So if any of you know of any website that may help with that please let me know - I have signed up to Fitocracy.com on my sons advice but it isn't really what I was looking for. I don't have much spare time in my day to dedicate to exercise but with the longer evenings I am managing to get out for a walk most evenings if I am not too late home from work. Anyway any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-
hi Aimn, I like lose it.com to log food and exercise. Here's their URL.
The best part is posting your exercise and watching the calories roll back.
They have mobile apps if you're into that. :-)

Ainm, my favorite workout is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. It is just 20 minutes of exercise and for supplies, you only need some hand weights. It goes through 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs (3x through) She changes it up all the time and you never have to do more than 45 seconds of any given exercise at a time. By the time I'm ready to give up, it's almost over! As for diet, I totally recommend going low carb, but that is just me. I'm never hungry and very satisfied with what I can eat. Tonight is steak on the grill with asparagus and a glass of wine!
-
Here is another site that you might find useful - I tried it for a while but have backslid. Have been trying to track my protein intake to make sure I am getting enough (usually not).

Happy Birthday, truebff!
Everyone here deserves credit for my success but zogo I have to thank you specially. Last year you were posting some nice steady weight losses due to starting a low-carb lifestyle. I was inspired. Learning about the glycemic index and the anti-cancer diet and the hidden ways that wheat makes you fat
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/wheat-gluten_b_1274872.html
lead me to start eating very differently. I hope to keep posting new E-LAB lows each week. Catch me if you can!
-
Happy B-Day TrueBFF!! I'm glad you are celebrating in style and I love your spirit!!
Badger, thanks for the credit, but you did it all yourself! Don't you feel better on low carb? I feel great, but wish I wasn't stuck at this plateau.
Here is a funny video that cracked me up, as I have actually thought about exhaling while weighing!!

Thanks badger and zogo! Here is a fun blog about plateaus:

-
Truebff, that is a wonderful blog. Thanks for sharing.
Reluctantly checking in today. HOW in the world could I have done exercise every day, had over 112 ounces of water every day and stuck to my low carb way of eating, and NOT lost weight. Rather, I gained this week. ok, rant over, here goes...

Water ~ 7 pts...Wednesday, I drank 162 oz H2O!
Wt Up (176.6) ~ 0

PS. Now my knee is swollen, probably from too many lunge jumps...arghh. Anyone got any great low impact exercise recommendations?
-
hey zogo, sorry about your knee, ouch! Swimming is what comes to mind as low-impact.
You can also do yoga while sitting in a chair. They call it 'chair yoga'.
I'm up .4 so it's not you, it's me too - must be the atmospheric conditions here in WI.

Roadrunner checking in
3 pts for Friday
0 pts for weight - after being down all week, was up tonight. Didn't weigh this morning. Poop.
7 pts for water - a little bit under the weather so glugging the water
1 pts for exercise - pitiful. Still not feeling like myself.
I'll claim my 11 pts and just be glad I'm here.
-
Elaine, I'm glad you're here, too!
patoo, good for you signing up for those 5K's. I thought about the Crazylegs Classic in Madison tomorrow but not this year.
Stay hydrated! Sometimes thirst masquerades as hunger. I really like my camelbak water bottle, it's 20-oz and BPA free. Weekdays, I drink one in the car on the way to work, one on the way home, and at least one during the course of the day. Weekends, I have a big glass (made of glass!) that I drink water from and also take the camelbak on walks.
Geez it's after 10, got to head to bed. 'Night
-
Robin just checking in to let you know I haven't flown the coop.
My mother in law passed away and I've been gone dealing with that and when I got back just too depressed to do much online at all. I'll get back on tract again next week......maybe I can do check in on Friday even.

We're here with friendship and support and lots of love and understanding. ((hugs))
-
badger, just sent you a PM with phone number.
-
thanks patoo, we just spoke YAY!
-
Just love these boards! Meet in cyberspace and then, sometimes, in person. Awesome.
-
Thanks, Ladies! And a special thanks to the one who posted the link My Fitness Pal. Very easy to use, easier than the one I was using, and tracking my food will help me get back on track. And I have not be walking like I was (3 miles most days of the week) since I was in the hospital overnight with an asthma attack, I think I'm afraid to. No reason I can't, I've checked with my PCP who actually encouraged it, so I need to get over the fear and just do it again. Once I start it will probably be fun again. I knw my dog misses the walks!
-
I am so frustrated, I weighed in this morning to a 3 lb gain! I am exercising and have definietly upped my water intake. I don't know what to do..
-
Meece, that is SO frustrating. Cutting out sugar and wheat made a huge difference for me. I was at a plateau for a while but have been losing steadily since I went gluten-free. Am down to 172.8 this morning. Had a big bowl of steel-cut oats with fresh organic strawberries for breakfast, some GF rice crackers with half an avocado mashed into dip for a mid-morning snack. Going to have a Bartlett pear soon then go shopping for the healthiest groceries I can afford. I cannot keep junk food in the house because it's too tempting so DH has lost some weight too. (now if only I could get him off the Mt. Dew...)
-
robin making checkin (late)
Weight up
Water 7 points
Extra credit......well I actually weighed myself this week???
-
Meece, I continue to go up as well. It is frustrating. My problem is not being able to stick with the good eating habits I was starting. Just plain lazy because I find it easier to get my hands on forbidden stuff (chips, cake, etc.) I can do very well with healthy meals but snacks do me in.
