Hi, I know I am probably on the worry train, but for the past three days, I have been having a weird pain at the point my neck touches my clavicle, sort of in the middle of my neck. I have thyroid nodules which have been stable for years. Even had a biospy done and was normal. My question is could it be a lymph node? It kind of feels like when you have the wind knocked out of you, or maybe a muscle from excercising? I have been taking advil and it helps sometimes. but I am woriied. Should I call onc or just go to primary doc? thanks

Every ache certainly turns into a huge worry for all of us now and I hate that, no matter how long its been.  I think if it is only a mild pain I would wait at least another week to see if it subsides.  For the life of me I can't remember the number of days usually suggested to wait before getting concerned (as if we can turn off our concern), but I see you are almost 6 years out so I am sure you are very aware of the games our body plays.  I assume this is a brand new kind of ache so it has you chasing demons.  I wish I had answers, but I am sure more will follow so I am just sending good thoughts your way.

That is weird area to have pain and I understand your concern, I guess it could be a LN...we have them all over.  I can't seem to trust my body anymore or myself for that matter.  I will have an ache and I try to give it the 2 week rule but then I'll go even longer and before I know it it's gone....might have taken a month or more though.  I hate living like this but we're living right :)  I say trust your gut, better to have it checked and it be nothing than to be kicking yourself later for not.  I always thought or heard somewhere that if Advil or similar made it get better then that was a good sign....correct me if I'm wrong ladies.  Let us know if you go and what they say.

Ihoping - The fact that little things ignite real worry after a BC diagnosis just sucks! I know that nodes are abundant on either side of your neck, but not typically in the front center. I would think that your PCP would be able to examine you and, hopefully, put your mind at ease. Sending you positive vibes.

If you touch the spot where it hurts, do you feel a bump or just a sore spot?  If it's just a sore area it may be a strained muscle.   That's what both my PCP and MO told me when I asked aobut it.

Probably a good idea to have it looked at.    Your PCP should be able ot tell if it's something that need further investigation.

    Here's hoping it's just annnoyance.

Hi Im feeling much better after reading these posts. Thank you for your input!! I am going to do the two week rule and see what happens.
Megadotz- it just feels really sore, but has always been sore since all of those lymph nodes were taken out. No lump, thank goodness

Jennyboog, the advil is helping alot, so thats another reason I am going to go the two weeks.

Thank you all so much! I dont know what I would do without you!!! Ilene

Ihopeg - I am assuming from your Dx that you had radiation? I had super aggressive rads, and had/occasionally still have, pain and soreness in just the spots you are describing. MO and RO are both adament it is pain from the rads. Hope this helps to put your mind at ease a little more - it was very reasurring for me to hear this from doctors I truly trust. Peaceful wishes continuing your way.

    Thanks BlueCowgirl,

I am thinking its from rads too. I started exercising 2 and a half months ago rigorously, and I'm thinking its side effects from radiation. Thank you for your wishes....
