MY WIFE HAD HER TUMOR MARKER DONE IN FEBRUARY 2012

THE RESULTS WERE --CA 15.3-----13.2  , CEA-1.77 ( BOTH WITHIN NORMAL)

REPEATED IN APRIL 2012

THE RESULTS WERE ---CA-15.3---12.1 ,CEA-----2.64(CEA HIGHER THEN NORMAL )

WHAT DOES THIS INDIACTE

EVEN IF WE SEE THE TREND, CEA HAS INCREASED WHILE CA 15.3 HAS DECREASED

many - my CEA also varies more widely than CA 15-3. CEA is also the less reliable tumor marker for breast cancer in general.

For CEA my reports always state the normal range up to 5. I wonder whether your lab measures it differently than mine. In any case, I don't think you should be too worried about CEA slightly above 2.5. For your mental reassurance, you could ask your doctor to repeat the measurement. Maybe everything is back to normal already because CEA react to any slight inflammation.

My onc tests for CA2729 (?) marker. What is the difference in the two? Anyone know? Is one more reliable than the other?
