AMERICAN IDOL....Season 11
Comments
-
I so don't like Joshua he is musically very good but it is his type of songs he chooses to sing... he never does anything up tempo and he always does ballad type songs. Just don't dig him
-
Jessica was really good with that song much better than last weeks song
-
rosasmommy ....She gets on my nerve too....and she has a good voice.
I think the problem is she things she is the best thing ever happened to AI.
-
Sheila, screaming was a bit too much for me too, the rest of the song he did a very good job. Jessica did a really good job, the stomp is because she's only 16 trying to walk in those sky high heels, you are right it looks artificial.
-
Yes!! Jessica seems a litltle full of herself, even though she pretends not to be. On a separate note, I really like the Elise/Phillip duet.
-
I'm very critical tonight....did not enjoy PP & Elise's duet.
J.LO looks beautiful. Color white agrees with her
-
Elise and Phillip duet, gooood sound, PP cannot dance without his guitar, reminds me of Taylor Hicks trying to dance. Poor Hollie, so many people to listen to, not a good job tonight, she does the same stomping across the stage as Jessica does. J Lo looks soo good in white. In one of her commercials from Kohl's she wears a white outfit and looks dynamite.
-
No Comments about J & J
I'm starting to change my mind about Joshua.....if he could just stop screaming like he is in extreme pain...Sorry
-
Joshua and Jessica duet, this time almost the right amount of screaming, he needs to hold back a bit, not everything is a gospel song. Poor Hollie is in trouble this week, she needs a few years to mature as a singer and to have confidence in herself. She is a true 16 yr. old.
-
Sheila I also did not like Elise and PP's duet. I agree I think Jessica is full of herself because I think she thinks she is "the best thing to happen to AI" like someone said. Joshua tends to "yell" a little in all of his songs but the judges love him... hmmm? It makes me feel like they are pushing him on us. Hollie had another bad night. I felt bad for her because she is so sweet and can sing really well if she would just relax like they say and fall into the song.
I also like JLo in white, but she looks good in everything LOL!!
-
LOL Sheila ... extreme pain you made me laugh!!
-
Colton is beginning to grow on me, did a really good job on Time After Time, has a sweet smile. Now comes Ms. Skylar, I don't think I like her outfit, J Lo should take over choosing what the girls wear.
-
Yes Colton is growing on me too.
Skylar is a sweet girl...i like her when she sings country.
-
I really liked Colton and Skylar both their songs were amazing!!! Skylar definitely knocked that out of the ball park... best of the night by far for me!!
-
so who is in the bottom 3 this wk...
-
HMMM I think Hollie....Jessica...and unknown
-
I agree, she was dynamite, I had tears in my eyes too. She did "knock it out of the park", I could listen to an album by her right now. She makes you feel good when she sings. I'd like her to do a duet with Kelly Pickler tomorrow, they would surely rock it out. See you tomorrow ladies, always fun watching with you. Bottom 3, Hollie, DeAndre and his hair, and Elise again.
-
Oh Karen how awesome would that be for Skylar and Kellie Pickler to do a duet together!!! Yes they would rock it!!! Bottom 3 for me Hollie, Deandre (and his hair lol), and Elise or Joshua.
-
Thank You for your company.
It's time to watch Survivor.
See you all tomorrow night.
Good Night♥
-
I was going to pick Joshua too but they'd use their save for him, they like his screaming. And here I am tonight picking on their clothing, Joshua's jacket was 2 sizes too small, what a critic tonight.
-
Karen....LOL...You are really paying attention tonight.
Did you notice it's almost full moon
I forgot about the SAVE. I think they can only do it to a point...
I know Im going to watch Survivor
-
Hey idol watchers,
I agree with most of the comments. I honestly did not think Hollie was pitchy for the entire song. I think she has to manage her voice a bit more; but she's powerful.
I don't see the attitude in Jessica...but then I had to miss some shows.
I am over DeAndre - I like his normal voice part, but too too much and yes, too many hair flips.
Speaking of hair, Colton? he captured the young audience.
Elise - she made me nervous - not finishing off her words....sounds like she wants to be a conservative janis j.....she has gotta find a groove or she's going.
Phillip without his guitar - it even affects his singing.
Country is very big, so Skylar's going to gain votes as the field narrows.
I kind of missed the party...was doing work at home while I listened.
Until tomorrow.... -
I disagree with the judges tonight, I thought Hollie was excellent, especially during her duet. I think we'll see Elise leave this week.
Anne
-
I had to share this with you. LOL
If "Idol" decides it needs to cut costs, it could fire whoever dressed Randy Jackson in that red polka-dotted shirt, and just put all three in cheerleading uniforms for next week.
-
Tonight - Music from the '80s, ironically, when most of the contestants weren't even born yet...
Guest mentors: Gwen Stefani, and Tony Kanal from No Doubt.
First up: DEANDRE ("I miss my car") doing I Like It by DuBarge. Gwen: "You always look worried up on stage." Jimmy: 'He'll be in the bottom 3'. More falsetto, extreme hair flipping, judges amazed at his performance. Who were they listening to? Sure wasn't what I heard.
ELISE ("I miss my band") doing I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner. Gwen: "I got goosies! She'll have a magic moment up there!" The choir sounded good, as did the big chorus moments. But Elise has some of the same problems as all the girls with the big voices - they sound weak and flat in the lower, quieter ranges.
PHILLIP (forgot what he missed) doing That's All by Genesis. I really do like this guy, even if he DOES wear the same shirt every week, does the same stage moves every week, and sound exactly the same every week. Can't help it, I just like him.
JOSHUA ("I miss my family") doing If You Don't Know Me By Now by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. This guy can sure perform. He was MUCH more in control this week, and even though he admitted he had trouble acting out the song because he is only 19 ("I've had no love troubles") he can make the story line believable. Liked him a lot tonight.
JESSICA (I think she misses shopping and boys...) appearing tonight as her alter-ego BB CHEZ, doing How Will I Know by Whitney Houston. I liked her tonight, for a change. She seemed young and energetic, and not just trying to copy the greats. She acted her age on stage but sang like a champ. But Girlfriend - if you are going to wear those 5" heels, please learn how to walk in them. You looked like a big old Clydesdale clopping along.
HOLLIE ("I miss my family and my puppy") doing What A Feeling from Flashdance. Gwen: "You have to let people know you know what you're feeling." (Where have we heard THIS before?) On stage, she had the exact same moves as in her last song. And again, pitchy in her low ranges, thought about the technique too much, and WTH does a flapper dress have to do with the Flashdance story line? I think it's time Hollie went home. I have never, EVER heard her sing a song where she connected to the lyrics.
COLTON ("I miss face painting" (?????) ; apparently a family business) doing Time After Time by Cindy Lauper. I liked it. I like him. He did another band's arrangement of it, and it was good. He wanted Gwen Stefani to sing harmony with him on stage; why didn't he get another backup singer to do it?
SKYLAR ("I miss my guns and deer meat") doing Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler. She looked pretty on stage, and I was SO thankful that she didn't do her first choice of "9 to 5" by Dolly Parton. Yikes! I'm so glad she got out of her country rut, but I don't think she really understood the lyrics, because she tended to oversing it. The judges sure liked it, though!
DUETS
COLTON AND SKYLAR = Islands In The Stream by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I thought a duet was a story sung by two people to each other. Not these guys! Mostly they were looking at the camera, the audience, and standing across the stage as far apart from each other as they could get. But they sounded good.
HOLLIE AND DEANDRE = I'm So Excited by the Pointer Sisters. One thing Hollie was NOT was excited, at least by Deandre. Again, it was as if she had no understanding of the lyrics at all. And those heels! Clomp, clomp, clomp! You're another one who needs to learn how to walk in them, Girlfriend! Somehow, they avoided looking at each other for most of the song, Deandre felt the need to flip his hair some more, and it was just boring for me. Perhaps this was the Disney version? Steven to Hollie: "You've got to find your soul." GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!!!!
PHILLIP AND ELISE = Stop Draggin' My Heart Around by Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks. Thought they were good. Tom Petty songs generally leave plenty of room for missing the notes. Elise's do was better than her solo performance.
JESSICA AND JOSHUA = I Knew You Were Waiting by Aretha Franklin and George Michael. Now THAT was a duet, folks!!!! Great singing, and great stage presence by two very young performers. JLo called them the Dream Pair.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OMG, Sheila - I HATED Randy's shirt tonight! I have CLOWN PHOBIA!!!
Karen - You made me laugh when you said Bottom 3: Deandre, his hair, and Elise.
It was only later that I read "or Joshua." -
I have noticed a real difference if I listen to AI through my TV, which is a new Sony or if I listen with the receiver turned on and through a head set plugged into the receiver. The vocals sound SO much BETTER through a head set that I couldn't believe it was the same people. I think it does a disservice to the contestants to be heard through the sound systems we are getting through our TV's.
I suspect the DeAndre is going home. Hooy and Jesica don't seem to know how to walk in thier teeteringly tall shoes. I mean who could? Thier shoes as a proportion of thier total body height must be a rediculous ratio.
At times this season has felt like I was watching a very good school talent contest. WIth a couple teachers thrown in for a mix. I think I am angry with AI for letting the show decline.
Hi everyone... Blessings I love your analysis every week of AI it's great. I thought maybe PP would grow on me but unfortunately he seems to be stuck in a rut. He has really good stage presence but he sounds the same on so many songs...maybe it's just me?
He is a cutie though. I still love Skylar she did do an amazing job this week.
I just checked over on Dialidol.com and this is how the contestants are ranked after the voting last night (now keep in mind this does not take into account text votes or online votes but generally it has been pretty close to correct in past years)
1. Skylar 2. Joshua 3. PP 4. Jessica 5. Elise 6. Colton 7. Hollie 8. DeAndre
The numbers are really close for Elise, Colton and Hollie then there is a big voting gap to DeAndre so it may be him going home. Guess we will wait and see. But I do think the judges liked DeAndre enough last night that they would consider using their save on him, Elise or Elise because they only have 2 more weeks to use it. When they get to 5 idols they can't use it.
See you all tonight if not before!!!
-
Thanks, Mimi!
Wow - I didn't understand about the "SAVE" limits....and it sure sounds like JLo has been promoting Deandre every single week, even yelling out "VOTE FOR DEANDRE!" after one of his songs.
Oh well, if he loses, maybe he can be one of her backup singers!
-
Blessings, he'll have to tie up his hair if there are women hair tossers!!. Can you tell I want him gone?.
