AMERICAN IDOL....Season 11

Can i join in?? I have watched AI since day one--I hate to admit. It is a guilty pleasure. This year's crop is a bit young but there is a lot of raw power. I don't really have a favorite yet--what's wrong with me??? Elise is definitely growing on me. PP I love, but Dave Matthews doesn't need a twin out there. Skylar has a definitely got a great country voice--but she is much like PP--one trick pony. She needs to change it up a little. Hollie is just too young, she needs more training. Jessica is talented--but she needs a personality transplant. DeAndre is my DH fave--reminds him of Earth Wind and Fire. Me, not so much. I like him better when he is NOT doing the falsetto, but he too needs experience. Joshua is a diamond in the rough, I could see him doing gospel. Colton will make it big in Christian Rock--that's what he wants to do I think. But right now it is a coin toss who is going to win. Just my humble opinion.

Karen, biased about who? I am confused.
I do think this group is too inexperienced. I think this platform is brutal and the middle twenties who have been around for awhile will hold up better. I have heard more than one music industry star say they could have never made it through this gauntlet.

Claire, glad to have you with us, I think it is a guilty pleasure for many of us! IYHO you were quite on target with all the contestants. Hope to see you back here on Wednesday. Karen
-
cmblastic ....i couldn't agreed more for what you wrote.
YES Jessica needs some type of transplant......I can't get to warm up to her.
Anybody interested in Country Music ACM Awards is on tonight at 8 pm.
-
Thanks for the reminder Sheila! Have you ever watched the you tube video of Carrie Underwood singing "How Great Thou Art" with Vince Gill, major goosebumps.
-
Have i watched it?. OMG..... Tears come out everytime i listen to that version.
I was listening it again 5 times in a row the other night.
One of the best♥♥♥♥♥

I have direct tv and have lost ch 59 for now, Lets hope they get this straighted out before Wed.

Joshua does have a beautiful voice. It will be interesting to see if he can move into commercial sounds. I hope he can.
I agree Claire about Skylar, she has a lot of energy and that will be fun on the tour but it won't make an American Idol. I think, and if I recall Simon said about Carrie that he thought she would be the most successful artist ever from the show. This was before she won and he was right. I think they took her carefully under their wings to get her launched. I just don't know if I see that this time. We got to see Carrie make bad wardrobe choices and move on. The backup was slim musically and while it wasn't such a flash bamm weekly show it did give room to show individual growth. I think this is more like watching these kids try to stand out in the middle of a LasVegas show. I never cared for Carries style myself but I did make these observations.
I really do feel bad for the two tiny girls, they have great voices but not enough experience to know where to turn or what to do to move ahead. I imagine Jessica isn't emotionally to where she will understand just what anyone means by personality. I read some of the taolk about her being stuck up at school. It may mean that she is being carefully raised and is shy or reluctant to join in with the "in crowds" at her school. Holly and Jessica look like deer caught in the headlights.
I went to youtube and watched some of Dendre's Hawaiian dance and singing so I can see where he gets some stage presence. Too bad he can't sing Hawaiian songs on the show his voice is so perfect for that. I don't quite understand where he got his speaking accent being from California. I agree I wish he would sing less falsetto. I do think he is very talented. It is interesting that he had a contract offered by Disney and didn't take it. Disney is legendary in being cheap with talent. He would be a real cutie in a teen Disney movie if that is what it was for. I have no info about what kind of contract it was. He would be amazing in one of their Hawaiian shows but I think his career aspirations arefor more than that at this age.
Those three kids are just 16 and 17. I had no clue about anything at that age, I just thought I did.
I worked with theatre kids for several years so I may be sensitive to what is going on this year. I am no musical talent expert in any way, but I can tell you a thing or two about building a costume.
I think the other singers are also all talented and I too just don't have a favorite yet. PP is interesting. Elise is very good but it feels like she is in a different category and I betcha the young girl voters will not support her.
So that is how I feel today about AI. One of my past favorites was Constantine. He is made for Broadway. I am a musical theatre geek all the way back from my long ago childhood. When I was three years old my dance teacher had us singing show tunes for our recitals. It never gets out of you blood.Have a great Sunday

Hey Gingerbrew, your boy Scotty just won the American Academy of Country Music New Artist of the Year award!!!!!!!!
-
I didn't see my adopted daughter Lauren Alaina tonight. Why????????
-
I think she may be there but not performing or nominated or even giving out an award, but I'm not sure
-
-
I know Sheila I hope next year Lauren is nominated for new artist of the year
-
Gingerbrew,
I went to the Idol concert 6 days before my surgery. It was a great show, but the acoustics were bad and the sound tinny. I thought the performers (and audience) deserved better than that.
Karen, I agree with your faves - I also like all kinds of music except rap and metal [unless it is classic rock].
My Idol winner favorites - David Cook, Carrie U, and Kelly C.
My non-winning faves - Bo Bice, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, Catherine McPhee, Casey James
Remember talent-loaded season 4 - Daughtry, McPhee, Mandisa, Kelly Pickler, Elliot Yamin, Paris Bennett, and winner Taylor Hicks
I agree with Jason Castro's Hallalujah as being most memorable.
I don't have a favorite yet for this season....who is emerging as to top 3? I liked Phillips from the start...not sure though. -
Hi Joan...Here is our Casey......
-
-
Thanks Sheila for the picture of Casey and the link to Jason singing. I enjoyed both!
-
Hey Ladies since we were talking about Casey the other day I wanted to share... I'm headed to Nashville to a CMT taping of Casey today with some friends from the Casey James fan club over on facebook. I'm super excited!! I was hoping to get some pictures but one of the ladies posted that they emailed her and said no cameras allowed. Boo! Oh well.... it's my first time seeing him live! or a tv taping for that matter.
-
Mimi have fun, report back!
Ginger
-
Mimi, sounds like so much fun!
Sheila, great pic of Casey.
I read that Holly got a note of encouragement from Carrie U.
I'm glad I'm off this week so I can watch both nights.
-
Joan, Ginger and Sheila and all others... We had a great time last night in Nashville seeing Casey James!!! Oh my gosh can he sing and play the guitar
WOW and he is so much better in person than what you see on tv... you can't even imagine! They filmed us for CMT Listen up it is suppose to air May 1, so watch for it. Casey did 6 songs and then took a break and then they had him come back and do the same 6 songs again
so sexy and we did get to take pictures without a flash and I even got a little video of one song on my iphone but I can't post the video till after May 1. There wasn't a big crowd because you had to be invited and then I was added as a guest (yeah me for having great Casey friends). After the filming Casey did a meet and greet and I got a hug, my picture taken with him and he signed my cd!!!
He is so nice and very cute!! But of course you all know the cute part... LOL!!! Well I've run on enough so I will see you all tonight at American Idol time.
Renee
-
Renee......did you say you got a hug OMG.....I want a hug too.
i'm so happy for you that you had this opportunity to see him in person
♥
See you all in 3h 29m
-
mimi, wish it were me
-
See you all later. Renee, wish it were me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yep Sheila I got a hug and he is just the sweetest young man you would ever want to meet. I don't think he will ever grow into one of those stars that says I don't have time for my fans. He even told us from the stage that he loved us. He asked who traveled the longest distance to see him... someone came from Maine and he was like WOW!! you came from there to see me
.... I get chocked up when I talk about it he said because I never thought I would be here. Just so amazing. His mom should be proud she raised a wonderful young man.
Showtime in 25 mins see ya'll then!!!
-
-
an we're live!!!
-
I'm here.
-
-
O.k. parts of Deandre's song was good and other parts was
still not a big fan.... opinions ladies?
