AMERICAN IDOL....Season 11

We were expecting this............
-
OK Sheila - they got it right, see you here next week, hope our troop is back, it was nice sharing the hour with you. Karen
-
The same here Karen.
♥
-
I have been watching each week, but we always record it so I have to stay away from this thread until we catch up. The right person definitely went home, although I am tired of Deandree and ready for him to go, too.
-
I totally agree with you, cannot understand why the judges think he is all that great, the tweenies I understand. I hate that falsetto for a whole song.
-
Good vote off.
-
Phillip is good!
-
I'm still on the Philip Phillips Train!
-
Sorry ladies I didn't make it last night, my daughter stayed here and she was on the computer all night working on her wedding stuff.
I did agree with who went home but didn't really think that Skylar should have been in the bottom 3. I agree about Deandre also, there have been some songs that I like but they didn't have the falsetto in them. He is cute but that doesn't sell records unfortunately. I also thought maybe the other one might have been Jessica as well and not Hollie.
-
I was looking on vote for the worst idol (yuck) anyway this is what they are currently saying.....
After Heejun bored us all to death, even VFTW didn't care to vote much for him. And we all saw what happened there. It's time to move on to the other train wreck of the bunch - DeAndre Brackensick. He's not very well liked among the Idol viewers and some of his performances have been over the top funny. While VFTW really wants to get a white guy to win this year again, there's still 2 of them left and they're in no danger yet. And even if one of the white guys goes home, it just makes the other one more powerful and even more likely to win because he'll get all of the frau votes.
So for now, let's vote for DeAndre and see if he can possibly make it another week. He's the clear person to go home next week and we know he's going home, but we might as well try to help him stick around an additional week if at all possible. Let's give it the old college try, people. Maybe that can rescue this dull as dirt season (probably not).
Plus, next week is 80's week. DeAndre + Prince = YES!
Anyway I found what they were saying a bit intreresting and thought you ladies might also. Have a great Friday

Last night's guest performer was Nicki Minaj.
You know who Lady Gaga is, right? DH and I call Nicki Minaj Lady GAG.
The first thing I noticed was that during her performance there was a lot of singing going on, but behind the mic, her lips were rarely moving.
Then afterwards, she announced to Ryan that she wanted to be a judge on AI, and, in fact, yelled at JLo to "move over".
All the judges were staring at her like deer caught in headlights, and finally JLo said "I don't think there's room for both of us up here."
AWKWARD!!!!!
-
mimi, this is unbelieveable, is there any way that AI can derail this site? I looked it up, they make plans each week on who to save and who's to go.
-
Blessings, I think your DH is right on target, people like this would never even make the cut for AI contestants. Are they getting desperate for performers to feature or am I just hopelessly out of the loop?
-
Karen that site vote for the worst has been around I think as long as idol has. Kinda like there is this site called dialidol.com and it's where you could down load a dialer for your computer and program it to automatically dial for which ever idol you want and it will repeatedly dial somehow. I've never done it but they do have forums and a predictions page and I go there to check and see what it says. Back in the day when idol first started and not everyone had computers or cell phones with AT&T and could text votes many more people used dial idol and they were always pretty close to being on the money who the bottom 3 were and who was going home. They even have predicted the winner right every year. I've always used my phone. But AI has never tried to disable either of these sites. It gets them what they want and the contestants to... Press!!
-
mimi. kind of shows how naive and computer literate I am!
-
Just watched. Glad Heejun left; I could live without Deandre and Hollie next. PP, Colton, and Elise my faves.
Loved seeing Stevie Nicks; wish she would've performed. Nicky Minaj is a sad plastic production of some record company's imagination. Scotty was good.
On another note what are the odds that my MO would approve of me going to see Aerosmith July 28th in Dallas? Smack dab in the middle of my chemo. Yeah, that's what I thought. -
Karri it never hurts to ask. Sometimes they tell you to do whatever you feel up to.
-
LOL I just did the math on my current schedule and it would be a chemo week - and considering I spent last week (my first TX) writhing in bed deciding if the cure was worse than the disease, it's not likely
Maybe next summer, right?
-
Oh well maybe next summer Karri
Hope your next txt isn't as bad as the last
-
Thx Mimi!
-
Apparently none of Prince's songs have been released for use on AI. Not that I would like them anyway. Falsetto just doesn't grab me.
Phil is good.
-
DeAndre..... His falsetto is not good and that is why. The Styllistics, that guy was perfect, DeAndre breaks up and is not smooth. If you close your eyes, eh. DH cannot stand to lsiten to him and worse to watch for him. But if he does not do falsseetto, he is better but judges encourage it, poor kid, too young to know better.
I fastfd HeeJun. Again. Then judges make over him so I had to go back and listen, and though no no way. Thank goodness it is over, the torture that is.
And the Nicki performance. Will have to see that JLo moment.
They should've had Stevie, maybe next week?
I think Hollie will be next to go.
But Jessica could too, though she is good, she is not idol material.
Phil has grown on me tremendously, and he could be the idol, he couuld do it.
Justin??? Jason??? forget step it up please.
Colton, Jimmy was right, I was thinking what the? get some control. But the song was beautiful.
Skylar, she is a pro really, her voice is 'good enough' but her energy is what does it. They are looking for a star, she could do it, if she won, she could fill the job.
Elise - I watched that performance 3 times and saved it for DD. But she would not be an idol.
SCOTTY - good to see him, glad for him. THAT is what A I is looking for.
Will see you all next week then, never miss an idol show.
-
Diane wonderful analogy of the show and I agree with alot of what you said... except, I'm just not sold on PP, yet. May still change my mind as idol progresses on. I love Skylar and Colton.
-
I went to the Idol site and wow are these kids young! No wonder they don't show experience or maturity on the stage. If you want to promote them as newbies then do that, don't throw them to the wolves with backup like they are actually pros. In my opinion all the glitz and glam shows off their immaturity but not in a flattering way. Obviously they all have talent, and experience will let it bloom. I have always loved this show but something feels off this year.
-
Sheila, I've been catching up on the sites and just stumbled on this....am a big fan but now I work thursday so never see results. Tivo doesn't work with the new cable box. HOWever, am off this week at night.
Gingerbrew, I agree - something a little off....I think the judges did a great job of finding people who could sing; but I do not have a favorite yet and in early seasons, I had them picked out right away.
Anybody want to vote for their top 3 previous season winners, since Sheila posted the ten season winners? (did you already discuss the past winners?)
Glad to join the thread :-)
Joan
Oh, another question - anybody go to the Idol tour last summer? I went and thought James stole the show. -
I actually had thrid row seats and still felt crappy from Rads and DID not USE the TICKET! Hard to believe.
I didn't start watching until about season 4, Fantasia right.
I have favorite singers but not winners. More specifically I had favovorite songs sung by favorite singers. Alleluia - Jason Castro a simple rendition that I loved.
Ginger
-
Jason Castro and Alleluia was simply beautiful!
-
I agree there are really great singers in this group of young men and women, but it takes more than being a great singer to be the American Idol... you've got to have staying power, the ability to appeal to the American audience outside of Idol and #1 sell cd's, itunes and promote videos and lastly keep them coming back for more. These are the things that Carrie, Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry, Casey James, K.Pickler and some others have been able to do and some of them weren't necessarily the ones that were picked as the winner.
-
Gingerbrew -
I agree completely about the youngest contestants.
No matter how talented they may be, for the most part, their nerves eventually show up on stage, and sadly for them, that only goes away with experience and maturity!
(Well, except for SCOTTY!!!
)
-
A little bit biased Gingerbrew?, my all time favorite is Carrie and also Daughtry, David Cook. I like all kinds of music except rap and heavy metal. Scotty is most definitely a love!
