Essa - so sorry you have to deal with such an inconsiderate neighbor. I agree with Marybe, call your local TV stations and get as much news coverage as you can find. You might even make a vedio and post it on U-tube. Never know who might see it there and take some action. Maybe some others in the area would join in a class action law suit against him. The attorney are not paid unless there is a settlement. Worth checking it out.
-
Has anyone talked to Barb lately? Hope her job did not get the best of her.
-
Hi Marybe, yes the job has me very depressed. Saw the onc yesterday. Was so depressed I forgot to even mention that to him. Sigh.
-
Shame on your onc for not picking up your distress Barbara!!!!!
-
BarbA - call your onco and tell him what is going on with you. I am worried about you and I know how bad depressions can be if left untreated. Hope things start improving soon for you. Hang in there gal pal.
-
Barb I echo what Elisimo said. The sooner you get help for this the easier it will be to treat. We are all thinking about you and saying prayers too.
Big hugs Barb
Ginger
-
Barb - it was so good to actually talk to you a little while ago. Remember you are loved and cared about. Do at least go to your GP and get what you need to help with the depression.
[Any one know of a natural rememdy for depression? Barb reacts strongly to even the smallest dosages of drugs so maybe a natural rememdy would work well for her.]
-
Both St. John's Wort and SAM-E have been mentioned for depression. I've never tried either, but I think some studies were done in Europe.
I burned out on a job once and it was awful. It took every bit of energy I had for the whole day just to get there and sit in my chair.
-
Caution on the "natural" products. St. John's Wort caused very bad edema in my arms and legs!!!!! Any product you take should come recommended from a doc.
-
Barbara, I'm so hoping you can get some good leads next week for a new job! You've been our cheerleader and now we're all here cheering for you, and you know we're all on your side. I've never taken any natural remedies for depression, just anti-anxiety meds at one time, but I hope you can find something that works. Hugs to you, girl.
Finally finished making a birthday cake for DD, whose BD is today. Not an elaborate cake at all, just a 3 layer yellow cake, but the cooked chocolate icing she wanted just kept sliding down the sides and I kept having to spread it back up until it finally hardened. But it looks good and I love that old-timey cooked icing. Family will celebrate tomorrow with a cook-out.
Hope we all have a good Saturday!
Kathy

Hope you all had a great day, especially Barbara who needs a little Irish luck right now.

Happy St Patty's to all of you. I Like your shamrocks Alyson.
Has Isabella been around lately?

-
Hi all, thanks, I am taking Sam-E and it seems to be helping. It does not interfer with my other stuff I am taking. At the conference and hoping to find a new job!!
-
Hi, for depression I often use flower essences, even have what I call my suicide bottle of essences, LOL, and I also take a serotonim that is natural, it really really works. Don't need this all the time, but when I do, bam, I'm good again.
Going for late lunch w daughter and granddaughter. Locking huge dog in my master bath, dear god I hope he does not eat my house again. hahaha
-
Essa, you may want to consider using a dog crate. A good one that will work for a big dog will cost you around $100.00 plus shipping. One of the very best manufacturers is in Indiana. I think it is standard crate? Trying to remember from long ago. The cheap ones can kill your dog by bending at the door and letting dog get his head caught. Good luck. My poodle puppy is now ginormous but he isn't a scary chewer.
One time I left a german shepherd puppy in my Aunt and Uncles bathroom. He turned on the water in the tub, flooded the room, and tore down the shower curtain and every other thing he could get his paws on. Oh that was an awful mistake, and we didn't have money to repay them at the time because we were military back then.Had not a spare $.25 to our name.
-
When I fostered for the shelter, they encouraged us to crate train. I actually had a couple adopted because they were already crate trained. A kong with some peanut butter or other difficult to remove treat would keep him busy for a while.
-
Kongs are wonderful toys. almost not a toy, could be called a training aid. They are tough as anything. I have had some serious chewers who didn't manage to kill the kong.
Ginger
PS On the crate, if you have something called Freecycle there you might be able to fine a decent crate for the pickup. You only need a crate big enough for the dog to stand up in and turn around. Not even the height of their head. Too big and dogs will use one end for a potty and you don't want that. I love our dogs and that is why I respond wit such energy when anyone mentions dog problems. Not because I know all about it, but because I hope I can help enough to be encouraging.

Hi - if you saw our super deluxe strong massive crate right now you would laugh so hard. He loved the crate, would always go into it and sleep, stay there for us until we left without him.Danny Boy expects to be with us always, forever and ever. He waits well in the vehicle but weather is too hot here now, 80 in March, in Indiana, northwest by Lake Michigan, crazy heatwave here.
1st time he was left home alone, and this is a $250.00 crate for king size dogs..... he went between the sides. So we wired that better. 2nd time he went between door and side. Hubby used a heavy chain on top and side of door. Looked horrible. 3rd time he went under the door, do not know how a 130# dog goes under four inches but he managed and did not hurt his body or jewels. augh! He bent it to heck, a mess, looks like aa torture chamber. After my surgery, we left him in the house alone a few times and he tore the house up going crazy to get out, so we left him in master bedroom and he tore out carpet and door, pooped and made a mess. We used the OLD crappy Suburban next, left him in it in the garage, and he did fine. A familiar place, I guess. We tried crate training and it works but not to leave him because he will kill himself. I know there is a bigger better design for a Newfoundland and we need it, when can afford one.
Today I tested him in master bath and he did fine for 20 minutes, so left him and when I was back in an hour he had been an angel. Thank goodness.
After all our dogs, never had one with seperation anxiety, all good w their crates and chew toys, which he does not use, and all good at staying home alone even though they preferred to go along. Then Danny Boy. We walk him every day but he is the fastest dog in the world, I swear never witnessed one faster, and we are the slowest people, so it does little good. The relief is that he is improved on all levels.
Thanks for all the tips and telling me what he could do next LOL I will be careful.

Hi everyone...just a quick fly-by...things have turned a bit hectic here of late.
I have had 2 pc breakdowns in 9 days...just back on-line today...so much to catch up with. SO mad about pc, I spent twice as much on this one than previous ones I have had. Thinking that as it cost a lot more than the others it would be better....wrong ! My little pc guy is doing a roaring trade getting me back on-line reguarly. He comes to the house, which suits me better than humping a flippin' great pc back to the repair shop.
I have been off-line all w/end, just got back this afternoon, so am catching up on everything.
I still have ex DH here...it is wearing a bit thin tho' now !!! Hostilities are breaking out !!! I have SO got used to doing my own thing MY way that I do not like having most things I do questioned, and am almost ready to sling him out ! ( Example...this afternoon, when pc guy came DH asked me what the problem had been. I replied 'I haven't the faintest idea, all I know it is going again...how it got to that state I don't know' He then preceded to have the cheek to tell me I should have watched carefully, just WHAT pc guy was doing so I wouldn't be wasting money when the problem arose again....I'd know just what to do. As if I have threequarters of an hour to stand over pc guy and watch all the things he was trying to get my pc back on the road again.)
To make matters worse DH went outside interfering with someone I had here cleaning out some barns, and a big something or other fell on him...all because he had been standing where he shouldn't have been...and ripped quite a fair bit of skin off his arm. So much of a mess it is that the doctors are talking skin grafts. I ended up taking him to hospital, sitting there almost 3 hours, and am now lumbered with changing dressings every 2 or 3 days. MEN... why were they ever invented !!!
I went to the second gypsy wedding on Saturday, fantastic, BUT 3 fights broke out, there was absolute mayhem !! The lights all went up, the shutters were slammed down on the bar, the music turned off, and we were all asked to leave. Great fun. I've never been thrown out of a pub before !!! The fighting continued in a field next to the pub, but my taxi was called and I was pushed into it !! I was home by 10pm ! It WAS St Patricks Day ! The fighting started over a score that was being settled over a divorce that took place 20 years ago, and some unpaid money !! That was all I have found out about it as yet ! My gypsy friend, Elvis, was round to see me this afternoon to apologise about the fighting....I told him not to be so silly,( I quite enjoyed it, tho' I didn't tell him that !!) It wasn't him, nor his family, but gypsies who had travelled quite a long way. When I have a bit more pc time I will tell the rest of the wedding story...it's hilarious.
Isabella.

Isabella, So happy to read your post....was wondering where you had been and hoped you had not been driven mad yet by DH, but it sort of sounds as if you are on the way so hopefully he will be out soon. Your posts are always so entertaining that I look forward to them and am anxious to hear about the rest of the wedding story/ what you wore to this one, etc.
-
Isabella, Marybe has just said what I would have so I won't be repititious. Glad you are ok and hope your "living situation" soon improves.
-
Ditto what Marybe and Chabba said, Isabella. Got to hear more about that wedding! And re exDH, goodness! To be charitable, I know he didn't intend for his arm to be injured, but then again he shouldn't be interfering with workers you've hired. And it all comes back to bite you in the end!
Quiet day, here. Another funeral. DH went but I had to keep DGS so I didn't go, which was just as well.
And it is HOT! For the first time I can remember, we really had no winter here. The pollen has fallen early and already my allergies have gone into overdrive. Maybe since it started early it'll end early, and one can only hope!
Hope all had good days. Barbara, glad the SAM-E is helping a bit and I hope you come back with a new job!
Kathy
-
where to begin?? first (big surprise) i was worried about you, isabella, cking sites to see where i missed you!!!I won't belabor it. but EX DH has GOT to go, or Quit.. and he seems incapable of changing.. so.. off he needs to go.. done...
Im sorry this pc is bad.. we did have hopes, didn't we?
We absolutely HAVE to have the details of the wedding, when you're up to it.. what good Irishman would have a wedding on St. Pattys' Day, and NOT expect a fight!!!that's a real no brainer, from my irish childhood days.. and we weren't travellers!!!
Barbara: i am so glad your'e taking sam e with your drs ok.. it'll kick in soon, get dolled up ; KILLER for that presentation, and knock em dead with your skills and wit.. you can do it girl; we want a new job for you>>>NOW!!!!
fingers crossed..and yes, here, in fla the allergy season is here, and quite bad, also.. i'll be looking for more to be revealed......3jays

Hello, I have just found your thread and started reading the last couple of pages. I would like to join you ladies here. ( I have to admit it will be the first time I refered to myself as an older woman but, I did just have the big five-zero b-day last month...)
Barbara, I hope the SAMe works well for you. I heard Dr. Oz recommend it not long ago. I have not ever used it, but think I might like to give it a try. How much and often are you taking?
Hi 3jays!
