An Alternative approach to Stage IV Health and choices

I just wanted to let you know I have not really been able to pick my ND's brain on what he learnt at the convention. He vaguely told me about medicinal marijuana, and on MCP (Modified Citru Pectin) which I have just added to my list of crap I take. If you decide to take it by the AOR brand. My ND said it was important to get this brand as it is cut to the right length to bind with the cancer cells. Other brands dont have a regulated length in which they cut it. Here is a bit on it I grabed from the APR website. What is MCP (Modified Citrus Pectin)?
MCP is an unique extract of citrus peel which is rich in certain specialized complex carbohydrate molecules. The specific molecules used can be taken from any citrus pectin, provided they are the right size (molecular weight must be less than 10 kiloDaltons) and rich in the right sugar based branching chains (galactosides). Significant evidence exists that these molecules can prevent the binding of cancer cells to various other parts of the body. Many people therefore use MCP to support their bodies resistance to the process whereby cancer spreads from part of the body to another.Current Research on MCP
More recently, researchers have discovered new anti-metastasis mechanisms of MCP, including blocking steps angiogenesis (the process whereby cancer cells stimulate the body to grow new blood vessels to feed the tumor), which are stimulated by in galectin-3. And new studies showing that galectin-3 can block anoikis (an anti-cancer defensive mechanism in which abnormal cells are forced to detach from the healthy tissue’s extracellular matrix, leading them to commit cellular “suicide” (apoptosis)) likewise suggest a possible protective effect of MCP.
Most excitingly of all, human phase I and Phase II studies of MCP have been completed in patients with colorectal and pancreatic cancers. While mostly designed to test the safety, rather than the effectiveness, of the supplement, the preliminary results were very suggestive of a true anti-metastatic power of MCP in humans.
Final certainty about MCP as a defense for healthy tissues against cancerous colonization in humans will have to await the results of randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase III trials. But with the powerful results experienced in other organisms – and the proven safety of this natural supplement – many people facing difficult decisions about their health and future are choosing to embrace hope by taking a chance on MCP todayI am hoping he will be less busy on friday and will have time to discuss more on the convention. I am trying to get him to start a blog or website to answer questions. He loves what he does and is constantly researching new and recent treatments. So he is a fountain of information. He's just too busy with all us sickos lol. The Oncologists at my cancer hospital have asked if he would come in and speak with them and explain what he does and how it works. SO many of his patients are doing so well it has caught their attention. It is a small step in bridging the two medical systems. It would be so wonderful if this took off and it became an integrated system.Sorry I don't have more info. If you can afford it I would definatley go on the MCP. Warning it tastes like a$$ and clumps if you don't blend it with something to mask the flavour. I feel like I am on fear factor whenever I drink it. But hey if it works........ -
3littlegirls: That's interesting info...thanks for posting.
-
3littlegirls, my ND suggested MCP for me many months ago. I tried taking it but had terrible cramping from it and had to stop. Have you had similar problems, or have you found a method of taking it that avoids that side effect?
-
I have just started taking it. I bought it a week ago but it tasted so bad I only took it twice. Today my ND explained it and how it works. So now I will try and take it like a good soldier everyday. I will let you know how it goes.
-
Anxious to hear how it goes. Is it costly and where does one get it?
-
Hi Jill, I bought mine at the Organic grocery store. You probably could get it at most Vitamin/health stores. It cost $90 (Canadian) for 450g. My ND told me to take 20g a day. So that should last me about a month.
-
Thanks for the response, Three Little Girls. Costly but not exorbitant. Its unfortunate that even if one wants to try these unconventional remedies...many are too costly ...especially since there is no guarantee it will help. I tried to at least eat healthy for a while..lots of vegetables and berries...mostly organic...even that was hard to maintain financially...so went back to chocolate! Never heard of MCP before this thread. Beautiful little girls by the way!

I posted this on the Inspire site as well and this is what one ladies response was. Thought it was worth sharing.
Hello,
I am a nurse practitioner who specializes in Integrative Oncology. I also am currently being treated for breast cancer. I've been using MCP for many years now with our cancer patients, am taking it myself, and have looked at the research. There is only one brand of MCP, Pectasol-C, which has been proven in clinical studies to provide the benefits described above, which include binding to Galectin-3 molecules and thereby inhibiting metastasis, inhibiting angiogenesis or blood vessel formation which enables tumors to form a blood supply and enlarge, and also providing gentle and safe chelation of heavy metals without depleting the body of essential minerals. Pectasol-C is a patented form of Modified Citrus Pectin. The key to its special qualities is the molecular size and configuration, a patented process, which can be absorbed from the gut into the bloodstream. Larger molecules of citrus pectin are not systemically absorbed. It also has a particular egg-crate configuration which traps heavy metals and safely removes them. Galectin-3 is a new inflammatory marker that can be tested in the blood with a simple blood draw. This molecule is a marker for risk of cardiovascular disease, fibrosis of organs such as liver, lung, and also found on the outsides of cancer cells enabling them to stick together. Pectasol-C is the first compound shown in studies to bind to Galectin-3. I personally would not recommend using another brand which has not been backed up by studies. I always use warm water, stir quickly and let it sit for a few minutes. 5 grams or 1 scoop three times per day or 1 1/2 scoops twice per day is the dose which has been most studied. Best used on an empty stomach 20 minutes before eating so it gets absorbed quickly. It can be put into a smoothy or juice if you aren't able to use it alone. The best price is the container of powder, but it also comes in pill form. It is such a powerful multidimensional supplement. -
Now THAT looks like useful info. Thanks, Michelle. Wonder if she has any anecdotal info from her patients about side effects like the cramps I had with it (albeit a different brand).
-
I will ask her and see.
-
I ordered some Pectasol-C from Amazon last night. I think it's worth another try.
-
It's interesting that MCP lowers cholesterol, chelates heavy metals and could mimic a low carb diet. My only concern is that it might contain grapefruit which could interact with Tamoxifen (for those taking it).
-
Here is her response to your question lulubee. "Do you know if she was taking the Pectasol-C formulation or another brand...that could make a difference. Occasionally I've seen people have some GI issues such as diarrhea......in this case its best to start with a smaller dose, like half a scoop and slowly add in more as tolerated.
Hope this is helpful," -
I realized that I am taking MCP in powder form. I use a scoop (1tsp) in my drink each morning. I looked and I don't think it contains grapefruit.
-
Thanks for asking her, Michelle! The brand I tried was Allergy Research Group, a brand my ND likes. I don't remember if that's the brand of MCP she recommended for me, though -- that was a year ago. When the Pectasol-C arrives, I will compare the label information and let you know.

Hi Ladies
I have not read this whole thread, so I am not sure what has been discussed, but I just wanted to add a few things to consider that I have come across in my research.
AHCC-this is a mushroom extract that is used in Japan as a type of chemo and shown to had a lot of success.
Heat kills cancer cells. I use a far infrared sauna daily.
I saw you mentioned fasting. I work with a nutrition counselor who regularly helps people with all kinds of cancer and starts with juicing. He follows the Kelley/Gonzalez protocol which was developed by Dr. Kelly who had stage 4 pancreatic cancer but lived 40 years after he did a complete cleanse, and changed his diet. This method includes daily coffee enemas. It is not pretty, but I have seen the difference it has made.
Also, do you have thyroid issues? If so, lack of iodine may be the root cause. Check out breastcancerchoices.org and look at the iodine links to bc.
I have a friend who has been stage 3 for over 15 years. She regularly goes to Sanoviv in Baja, to have detox treatments.
Also check your vit d levels. Get it close to 100 if you can.
Just some things I thought I would throw out there. I have lots of links in case anyone wants it you can pm me. I have been trying to archive info because it gets lost in all these threads.
-
Edited to say I found the answer thanks.
-
Hi all, just a quick note to say am in the process of moving, and no internet for a bit longer, but have been able to have a quick check today while at a friend's house. I look forward to reading all this new info when I have a bit more time! I have been reading about the human genome, the reasons we may develop disease, it is very interesting. One quick note, Japanese people have at least 3 genes that enable them to process starch..not sure about the rest of us, i will be trying to find out. Hope all is well with everyone, N.
-
Followup to my posts further up the page about MCP... I have been trying the PectaSol-C brand for over a week now, and I have had no cramping at all. According to the labels, it has a lower molecular weight than the brand that gave me stomach cramps (Allergy Research Group).
I read somewhere on here that it might be cheaper to get it through Life Extension. Haven't checked that out yet. Got mine on "subscribe & save" on Amazon.

Posted this on early stage natural girls too, and will on Alts when it calms down, pretty busy now.
This is what I am learning now, so want to share, and yes it goes back to thyroid, I know for me.... but what came first, what broke my body's immunity??? After indepth tests on medical history and a Chinese medical examination, I find that for me, it was kidney issues and I am not surprised, my weak point as a child and adult. This is one of my new answers. I know Vivre has an infrared sauna, but did not realize i twas for more than detox. I want the biomats, lg and small.
What I learned this week.
That I want this book in my library and this treatment in my life. Please consider getting this book.
The Fourth Treatment for Medical Refugees - Thermotherapy in the New Century.
Nobuhiro Yoshimizu M.D. Ph.D.
Far infrared ray is the key to preventing mestatic cancers and strengthening immunity. copyright 2009
If this therapy is used with chemotherapy, only 10 - 20% of the chemo is needed. (There is also IPT therapy and PolyMVA with chemo, both of which use 10% instead of 100%.)
Or can be used w entire protocol in book or whatever one chooses and no chemo.
The summary is the low body temp of almost all cancer people can be raised, the cancer cells can die naturally, but, the stress levels of cancer people needs managed too bcz the stress even causes the body temp to lower. Full of scientific evidence, references. Japanese physician who also studied at Mayo.
This book was written with cancer refugees in mind, those who have used everything in conventional medicine and ht the wall. Thosse who do not choose Western medicine at all..... or only surgery or only chemo. Cancer people who do not seem to have choices are told this is a better choice anyway, in my humblest and most enthusiastic opinion.
Me ..........after being refused by THREE cancer treatment centers and refused by two oncs that I wanted support from, with all their knowledge and the means to order the right tests..... refused bcz I was honest and told them I was not doing chemo or rads, so I definitely consider myself a medical refugee. Cool book.
Hope it helps someone, this is my experience now as I check into it, I am reeady to try it. Have tried the hot showers on breasts only, that's a tricky one. And I do not do the bathtub here bcz getting out is impossible, would hate to have to call fire department to haul me out : (
This biomat sounds so much easier and more affordable and it folds up.
Edited for temperance and to identify "this" and "that".
Edited to add what I found on a company page, just copy paasste it to do a search for on ethat FDA covers:
""" Workman's Comp, Health Savings accounts and Flex Spending cover the expense for the Bio-Mat.
A letter from a health care professional is required.
The Richway Professional Bio-Mat is Registered with the FDA as a Medical Device #2954299 """" -
Diane, there was a whole thread on raising one's temperature and keeping it up not long ago, from below normal to normal and maintaining it each day. There was a good web site link too. I'm so tempted by the sauna, but worry about LE for both my arms. I'd have to gradually increase heat over several weeks but that wouldn't guarantee no LE.
I believe it's unethical for cancer centres to not consult and order tests just because you refused part of the treatment. It's everybody's right to refuse treatment, and their obligation to use diagnostic tests and find a treatment that is acceptable to you.
-
Glad to hear it's workingbetter for you Lulubean. I'm ironically drinking the stuff right now. mmmmmmm NOT lol I have found the by mixing it with half water half juice and then some frozen fruit it is way easier to drink. Thanks for the info on body temp.
-
Joy - thank you for telling me. I am assuming that too is on Alts? Will search it out. These are pricey. I am going to do some calls today to find one in an office near me with unlimited monthly use.
-
I take MCP in powder form...prescribed by my naturopath. I usually add it to my smoothie in the morning because it doesn't mix easily in water.
-
Diane, the low temperature thread was called "Low Body Temperature anyone?". I was going to bump it up but the OP and main contributor was MBJ and it's so painful to see her posts.
Last post Oct 24th 2011. Here are some links from the OP.
http://hansacenter.com/pdfs/Cancer_and_Low_Body_Temperature_01-10-2010.pdf
HOW TO TRACK YOUR TEMPERATURE: http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph#intro
The conversation about saunas started at the bottom of page 301 on the Natural Girls thread.
-
Thank you Joy, Read the pdf, have other link bookmarked now. The protocol for naturallyy raising the body temperature is an entire lifestyle change and someone with cancer does not have time to pull it ooff so slowly. The Bio-Mat can do it within a few months, if only one could afford it. I am a believer in the color therapy and mind enhancing changes too, but need mechanisms to assist me.
It is hard to know that this is one choice MBJ made for herself and it did not work out for her. She was into whatever would save her it seems, truly strident and forward thinking.
-
Wow, this stuff on MCP is so interesting! I'm going to check it out!
That'slife, I hope your move is going well - moving is always such a pain for me! Hope you love your new home!
-
There's a thread on the Stage IV forum about Protocel 23. I invited the woman who started it to this thread where she might get more information, appreciation and support.
-
My integrativ emedical doctor first wanted me on Protocel. I wanted it too. But I realized I would have to give up 95% of my protocol because mine were contraindicated. Chose to 'wait' - trying to get strong thyroid for one, that was the major problem for me.
Will be good totalk to her, learn more.
-
Bumping - concerned that we haven't heard from the OP in a while. Anyone have news about Nerida?
