Rosemary .. My sis scoops up spiders and gently puts them outside. I, on the other hand, stomp on them.
I was thinking about Allison today when I was walking the dogs ... and remembering how she used to tease me about finding snakes on my paths. I really miss her sense of humor.
Hope everyone had a good day,
Bren

something strange about our avatars, names on left of screen on this thread..wonder if it's on all threads?
AH, Kate Wolf: "Find what you really care about, and live a life that shows it." One of my favorite lines of hers. ALSO Love the one about the Apple and Lilac trees..sniff, sniff, makes me sad to think how long ago she left us....

Sunflowers
It is on all the threads.

I would like to say that I am much happier to see an ad for vitamins or the ad that looks like a real cancer patient with a bandana than a picture of an overly perky celebrity on the side of the screen. I love the picture in the ad about exercise. I just don't like a picture of someone who seems so HAPPY about cancer.
-
I agree about the ad, Rosemary.

I had two good checkups this week! On Tuesday, saw my onc. 6 weeks after we switched me from Aromasin to Arimidex. And I like it! My joint pain is nearly gone now, so no more hobbling around like I'm 95. Vitamin D was only 43, but he's fine with that, so... *shrugs* My liver profile is coming back down close to normal, although my alk. phos. is still 156 (nl 25-150). I also got my first infusion of Zometa. It felt a little weird walking back into the infusion room, as my last chemo was July 2010.
Yesterday (Thur), I saw my primary doc, as it's been 2 months since she tweaked my cholesterol meds and started me on Metformin (a low dose - 500 mg at bedtime). I've lost 12 pounds, my triglycerides are 140 (down from 325), total cholesterol 133 with good cholesterol 46. She was very pleased and said we'd maintain there and check again in 3 mos. She also said she'd give this drug regimen a year and then would redo a liver US to re-evaluate the fatty liver that I got from the Tamoxifen.
I'm just so stoked, because I'm finally seeing progress after seemingly spinning my wheels for the past year.
-
And for otter: I came across these and thought of you. Enjoy!

That second one really cracked me up, since the Cialis commercials always show the couple in separate bathtubs holding hands.

Carolyn - great news and I love the pics

-
Carolyn great news.
Athena I am a HUGE fan of AC/DC, Foreigner, Journey, Aerosmith. etc. Love hard rock, not metal though.
Sorry I missed the action.
Sorry I have been AWOL. I am depressed. I know I need to go to my doctor but I can't muster up the energy. I have an onc appt next Tuesday so I will ask him if he can rx something. I know it takes a while but what's another month of darkness.

Good Morning, Otter http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/08/painfully-adorable-baby-o_n_1332519.html
Great news, Carolyn - I'm one of those "lucky" ones, who taking a statin like drug to reduce cholesteral, which it did, big time, also got thrown into pre-diabetes. "Are we havaing fun yet?"
So, now I am consuming enough cinnamon, alpha lipoic, all that stuff, blood glucose coming down, have no idea where cholesteral is. It is so @%^#$@#^%$ to keep track of all this stuff! In my fifth year of Arimidex - check out Lowrider's AI SE thread if you need help - good luck!
-
Good Morning!
Carolyn ... fabulous news. I'm so happy for you! It must feel great to be on the upward trend and downward on the weight!
Barbara .. please don't wait to see you doctor. I hate to see you so sad. I know your job is getting you down and my heart goes out to you. Maybe some meds might help.
Sunflowers .. the cinnamon sounds good, but it don't know what the rest of that stuff is. I'm so proud of you for staying on the Arimidex for so long. Good job!
I'm off to Roanoke today. Going to meet up with my sis for a little shoe shopping therapy. I have my eyes on a pair of boots I tried on last week. Hope they're still there. If they are, I know it's a sign to buy them.
Hope everyone has a great day,
Bren

Carolyn-I love the pictures!
Barbara-Please go to your doctor sooner rather than later. Your post just sounds so hopeless. I've been there, I know. I've had depression and I know how lost one feels, and how much better one feels with some meds and counselling. I would recommend both. Thinking of you.
Waving hello to everyone. It's Friday! Yay!

Aw.... I am loving the otter pictures. They've really helped to cheer me up.
Barbara, I'll second (or third?) what Mary said. Please be sure to 1) talk to your onco and get a prescription, or 2) go to the doc even sooner than that. Don't let yourself stay in that dark place. In the meantime, here's a hug: ((((Barbara))))
We're in Tulsa visiting my MIL. The gloomy weather has finally lifted, and the sun is shining brightly. My MIL turned 90 yesterday and we're planning a medium-sized party for her... which we'll pull off successfully unless 1) she ends up in the hospital because of the nasty productive cough she has, or 2) I go crazy trying to figure out how to make the party punch she has decided we need to serve. It has lots of ingredients and must be mixed in small quantities. There is no kitchen available -- we'll have to do the preparation in the entertainment room where the party is being held. And... I think she has forgotten that there is no kitchen help for this party -- it's just dh and I; and there is no bevy of high school girls in her home ec class to set everything up.
But, I guess if you turn 90 and your family informs you that they're throwing you a party, you get to dictate the terms, right?
otter (hoping for the best, but preparing for something slightly more chaotic)

Oh, Barbara, I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. Please don't delay getting treatment. I know the hardest thing to get is "going" when you're depressed, but you'll feel so much better when you address the issue professionally.
You deserve to feel better!!!
-
Barbara, just chiming in to say - "get thee to a doctor" - f-a-s-t. Realy important. The faster you get some treatment, the better you'll feel. I remember the first time ( a thousand years ago) when I was prescribed an antidepressent - and the doc was SUCH A DEAR - honest, said "it's a crap shoot" = we try one til we find one that works for you.
Hope you find the PERFECT prescription fast. This @%#$^@#^$% disease, really, is enough to send the healthiest of us into a dark place....combined with your job ( more @^!%$%^@#@% words) .......we're in your pocket..... and will probably keep "nudging" til we hear you've seen the doc!
-
Hi Everybody!
I'm so happy .. I've had a wonderful day! I met my sis in Roanoke for lunch and some shoe shopping. I got the cutest pair of boots for $19.99 marked down from $60. I love my new boots. I wore them all afternoon feeling quite special. It's almost getting too warm for boots, but I'll be ready for next winter.
Barbara .. I've been thinking about you today. I've been exactly where you are now. I was working in a very bad job, with great pay and benefits, and I hated it. I truly wanted to curl up and die. Please call your PCP and talk to him about the possibility of some meds to help with your sadness.
Sending you a big hug,
Bren
-
Barbara, just chiming in to say I hope you can get to see a doc quickly about this. Sending you lots of (((((((hugs))))))).
Ann

Oh for the love of pete ... Tim's home and he's got Fox news on. arghh. I'm hiding out in my office!
Help me!
Bren

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Barbara)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
If I could make this hug bigger, I would.

Bren, It seems that love DOESN'T conquer all - lol!
Riley - aaaweeeeeee!!

Hi all. Well last week I was asking if the Femara could be giving me my cough. So I decided to take a self imposed break this past week. Well guess what the cough is gone. I need to call the Onc, but I know he is going to give me quite a talking to. I just know I can't keep coughing all the time. I'm hoping one of the other Al's might not cause this SE. Wish I knew why it started after a year and a half.
Barbara, I agree with all the others don't play around with depression. I finally had to break down and use some meds about 6 months ago, and boy has it helped. Oh the joys of BC.
-
Thanks everyone. I will go see my regular doc on Monday so I can get the ball rolling. It is just that everything is such an effort. Sheesh. And I am usually the Energizer Bunny.
Otter, 90 is a milestone birthday. Good for her. Kira, docs don't know squat about se's. I am sure they never even read the drug inserts about se's. See if Arimidex will work. Otherwise PM me and I will give you what I am taking that is metabolizing my estrogen perfectly. Bren I find Fox to be marginally better than NBC but I don't watch news on TV. I prefer to do my news online and use a wide variety of sources both left, center and right. Then I filter out the kooky stuff (from right and left) and have my news for the day.
Missing Blue.
-
Hi Everybody!
Just got back from running errands with Mr. Tim. I kid around about him watching Fox news ... I can watch it, just need to use my filter like Barbara said.
Kira .. glad to see your cough is better. I'm sorry the AI's are being so hard on you.
Barbara .. good news that you see your PCP on Monday. I hope he can help you feel better. I miss Blue too. I did talk to her the other day and it was wonderful to hear her voice. She's taking a break from the boards right now and her PD meds are kicking her ass. My heart goes out to her.
It turned out to be a beautiful day .. temps in the low 60's. I wore my new boots today, even though it's almost springtime. Yay! We move our clocks up today .. don't forget!
hugs,
Bren

BinVa don't remind me of the time change ug! I just got used to this one! Glad you enjoyed the day. It really has been a nice day.
Spring break for me at school, so now DH and I have to make some plans to get away for a few days. It is hard as we have a family business that he and I run. We are on call 24 hours a day, but it has been years, and now my feeling is time to enjoy all the work we have put into the business and let the kids carry it for a day or so.

Hi Gal Pals!
What's everyone doing today? The sun is shining and it's going to be 65 degrees this afternoon. yahoo!
I have to wade through pages and pages of loan docs today. Need to sign some papers and get things faxed to the broker. What a tedious job, but you've got to read everything. I've had some brokers try to charge me for fees that weren't mine to pay.
I also have some reports I need to transcribe today ... so a busy day for me.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Bren

Missing Blue as spring comes tiptoeing in.
-
Hoping the Spring brings her flowering in here, scuttlers.
-
Scuttlers and Athena ... I miss Blue too. I will call her again this week. It's so good just to hear her voice. I'll let you know when I talk to her.
hugs,
Bren

Quiet day here! Bren, I imagine you guys were watching ACC basketball? Got your brackets filled out?
I'm getting laid low with a bronchitis bug. I never get more than just the occasional head colds. But I saw probably 25 patients a day in the past few weeks with the nastiest coughs. I was doomed. Hope it clears up before next weekend--a bunch of us are headed up into the mountains for a weekend of skiing and snowshoeing. Or maybe sunbathing--it's been unseasonably warm and dry for March so far! Will be 70 tomorrow, and my little irises and crocuses (croci??) have popped up already. So soon!!
I want my hour back!!!!!! I hate losing the hour. Guess I'll just go to bed with my book, the kitties, and my cough drops.
-
Anne .. it's a beautiful day here! Sun is shining and the temps are climbing. I hope you feel better soon. Bronchitis is terrible.
I'm off to the bank with a bunch of refi forms. What a hassle. I got rid of our home phone, so now I can't fax from home. Have to take everything to the bank and have them fax the docs for me.
How is everyone? It's been pretty quiet around here .. missing lots of you!
hugs,
Bren
