Hello ATeamNana, Blessings and Cookie Monster! We all need whatever support we can get and this is a great place to find it!
Kathy and Janet, hugs and blessings right back to you!! I am feeling great! Saw the PS today for my follow up and he says everything looks great! Didn't get the ok to start working out again yet, but have been feeling good. Doing good with my weight. Havent gained any since I haven't been able to work out, so at least thats something right?
Taking care of ourselves by eating right and exercising daily is the most important way to take care of ourselves. I read in a bc book by Dr. Jennifer Ashton that your body can only work with what you put in it to create a healthy you. Stay motivated and healthy! WE ARE WORTH IT!!
Have a good night. tracy

Thanks for all the warm welcomes ladies.
Today I walked while DS was at soccer practice. Taking him to practice seems a good way for me to get my exercise too. I have my MP3 player and listen to whatever while I walk and the time flies by.
I ate better today too - having my weekday regular stuff is so important to me staying focused. We'll see what weigh day on Thursday shows - it *IS* PMS week for me, so who knows what I'm retaining.

Hi, Janet, we saw Lorax!!! It was so cute with a great lesson!!! I am so glad that your cellulitis is gone!!! I hope you never get it again!!!!! Hi, Marsha, welcome to this wonderful thread!!!!
-
HI Kathy, I heard good things about that movie. I'm sure you had fun with your friends.
I'm off to work today and feeling much better now that my skin has cleared up. The plan is to come home & get on the treadmill. I lost another pound so want to keep it going. Taking lots of seltzer, homemade veggie soup, yogurt & fruit for the day. I do think,(now that I have 3 lupron injections)' that for 2 weeks after the injection I retain/gain wait. I've had 3 cycles now and that seems to have happened each time. Anyone else have this type of treatment & experience this?
Looks like a lovely sunny day here. I hope it is for all of you too and you are able to enjoy a nice walk or bike ride. Enjoy!!! -
Thanks for the welcome. I lost about 2o pounds during my treatment and felt great. But over the last year and a half I changed jobs where they bring food constantly and the majority of them are skinny. It is hard to resist but I am determined to get that weight back off. I just ran up and down my small flight of stairs three times .... Gotta start somewhere. I plan on doing that a few more times before I head to work. We also just got a water dispenser at work which I never drink. I WILL drink water. I really would love to be able to get back in my capris I wore last summer. So thanks for all your support I need a place to be accountable to.
-
Wow - look at all the new folks that have joined!
I'm so glad that this thread is inspiring you guys.
I'm continuing to have a difficult time scheduling to exercise everyday. Family issues, & job searching continue to require so much of my focus. The rest of you, however, are really doing great!!
I have been doing quite a bit of yard work & just worked with my hubby to install a small extension on our patio for our grill using 16 x 16 inch pavers we picked up for very little at the local home improvement store . Those suckers are heavy and I moved a bunch of them so I considered that my weight lifting for a couple of days. ;-) I know the strength I had before all this stupid breast cancer stuff is coming back. My frozen shoulder has almost completely healed. I'm still really trying to work on keeping my left shoulder held back properly throughout the day. I'm consistently aware that I'm slouching on that side. Oh how I wish I hadn't lost the implant and had so much damage to the tendons and tissue due to radiation. Oh well, it could be worse.
I still haven't bought a scale. I can't remember who was looking at at one that calculated body fat (sorry). Did you ever get it? Right now I think I'm just going to go buy an inexpensive one. I'm sure as soon as I step on it I'll get more inspiration to make time to do some exercise that burns fat. You'd think it would be enough that I was standing in a dressing room crying when I was trying to find a new outfit for a job interview week before last. It should have also been a "wake up" for me when the manager at the local grocery whom I've gotten to know over the past few years but haven't seen in awhile said in front of everyone at the checkout ... You've put on some weight, haven't you?
Okay ... enough whining for one post! I've got a meeting at 11:00 to deal with some family stuff so I better go get ready.
I'm sorry I've been so bad at responding specifically to all of you in this thread. Hugs to all!
-
Janet, the veggie soup sounds delicious!!! I have heard that the veggie soup is a fat buster and so delicious. Again, I am so glad you are feeling better!!! ATeamNana, Running up and down stairs is great!!! I do it here, too. We live on the 3rd floor. A fireman told us that his crew runs up and down stairs at hotels to keep them in shape. You will fit in those capri's. This thread is great for motivation!!!! Hi, Plantlover!!!! It is always so good to see you!!!! Hey, you have alot on your plate right now, never apologize, family comes first!!!! Wow, yard work is alot of exercise and a great workout, I have heard that yard work, burns more calories than many other exercise regimens.Oh, my gosh I can't believe what that manager said, just believe in yourself, you will do great!!!!! You have started a great thread and for that you should feel so proud. Lots of love to everyone!!!!!!

Hi Girls!!!
It was a sunny day & continued with warmer than average temps. I decided to go for a bike ride instead of doing the treadmill when i got home from work. First time since the Fall & the tires didn't even need air. (that made it easier) LOL
I live a few blocks from the bay so taking a ride is always so relaxing. I did need a hat, gloves & a big winter coat, but it felt great to be breathing that air in so early in the year while riding my bike. :-)
I even broke out my light weights for the first time in a while. I put on some music & danced with weights.....thinking about telling you ladies how I'm determined to be healthier!!!! I hope to encourage you, as you are doing for me!!!! I hope everyone had a good & healthy day.
(((((hugs))))) Janet -
Hey, Janet, this is so funny, but right as I was going to have a second helping of an early dinner, I decided to log on here. When I saw that you took a bike ride and you were also using weights and dancing, I felt the guilt and did not take a second helping, thanks, hon!!!!!! Yes, you are very encouraging!!!! Hugs, Kathy
-
I managed to drink 8 glasses of water today. (small 6 or 8 oz cups)
Even though I know that is not Enough it is a start since I hardly ever drink water.
We have styrofoam cups at work so each time I filled my cup I notched a line on the cup!
I will shoot for 10 tomorrow.
Best to all!!!!
Marsha -
Good Morning Ladies, another beautiful day in the northeast. I am off to work, a little later today, so I hope it is still as nice when I get home. I'd love to take another bike ride. I did wake up during the night with a bit of leg cramps but I guess that is what's to be expected as my body isn't use to that exercise in 5 months.
ATeamNana: sounds like your doing a great job with the water. Just a thought... you might want to invest in one of the safe bottles to drink from. Styrofoam can't be the healthiest thing for you. I'm just paranoid these days....
Kathy: It was so nice to hear that my post helped you yesterday. You have been an inspiration to me too!!
Have a lovely day to ALL..Keep drinking the water, making healthy choices & moving! (((hugs)))
Janet
-
Good morning, everyone!!!! Janet, not only did you encourage not to have a second helping, but I cheated and went on the scale this morning, I ususally wait until Fridays, I lost another pound. Whoo, hoo!!!! The water, healthy food choices and the exercise are all helping. Thanks to you and everyone here!!!! I am not going to stop, not ready to shop for Mother of the Groom dress, but soon!!!!! Lots of Love, Kathy
-
The scale was kind to me this morning too. Down 1.6 pounds this week!! I'll keep walking and keep watching what I put in and hopefully the weight will continue to come off. I'm averaging about a pound per week which is really about what I want to be losing.
-
Congratulations to you as well, Cookie Monster. A pound a week is great.I love coming here, it keeps me motivated and accountable!!!! Have a great day, Kathy
-
Hi everyone----havent posted in a few days---just have had a lot going on lately. I have been taking my walks though----we had a really beautiful day yesterday----walked on the bike path while daughter ran. With getting back to work I am finding it more difficult to get to my favorite walking track. Can't go in the afternoon now cause the kids from a local school are using it for track practice-----I have got to get myself up and going a lot earlier in the morning.
Its nice to see some new ladies here----hello to everyone new! Good luck on your weight loss journey---or rather our journey, we are all in this together!
I am taking it a little easy today---------this morning I had my port removed. It was a pretty quick little procedure, but its a little sore. It is a good day though. Still havent been able to properly celebrate this landmark----husband had a terrible cold last week when I found out it could be removed. Hes starting to feel better so am hoping to have a nice dinner out to celebrate-----with healthy choices of course!
Keep up the good work everybody! Even when I can't get on here, I am always thinking of you all! judy
-
Tenaj. Thanks for the tip. I actually have a water bottle just did not think about it. I will start using it instead. I did manage to drink 8 glasses again today but drat if one of the ladies didn't bring in crockpot pizza and I could not resist. But that was my lunch and I had oatmeal for breakfast so not too awful. I still need to do my steps but I have time yet tonight. Yay for everyone's weighty loss so far. I did see I can get the 17 day diet book on my IPad so I may check it out also. Thanks for the encouragement everyone and warm welcome! Marsha (ATeamNana). I am nana to four boys so I do get my exercise when I have them:)
-
Judy, Congrats on getting your port out!!!! Time to definitely celebrate. Beautiful day, today. We went for a long walk and it felt so good. I was so afraid hubby would get bored with retirement, but he loves walking and bike riding. He is only 60, so I am sure that once our grandbaby comes in August, he will do something part time., because I have definitely offered to help take care our grandchild!!!! We retired so that we could move out here to be near our kids, but we are still young enough to keep working!!!! But we are enjoying the weather and the little trips we take, and seeing our children. Blessings to all of you!!! Kathy
-
Good evening ladies!!!!! Everyone sounds like they are doing so well. Loving the weight loss, healthy choices & support for each other. :-)
Whoooo Whooooo JUDY!!!! Congratulations on a very positive step toward moving on & being healthy!!!!!!! Hope you enjoyed dinner, you deserve to eat whatever you wanted!!
Kathy: I love to hear about the grandma thing, that is my dream. My daughter still has at least 4 more years for her PhD. She promised that should would raise her kids by me so I hope she leaves Boston. Although she'll have to go where the work is.....I think I would move if I had to, even though I love my house.
Nana: good job on the water. I couldn't resist anything that involved pizza!!
Congrats CookieMonster on the downward movement on the scale. I too saw the scale down this AM..
Have a lovely evening, Janet -
Hello, Ladies!
After a particularly painful fill on Tuesday,(next-to-the-last-one; now I'm at 620ccs OW) I laid around and whined for two days.
Today I was going crazy, so DH and I went out and planted some of the new plants we got yesterday: got some pretty ranunculus: yellow, red, and purple; a japanese charm anemone; and a gorgeous peony plant!!!
(Last year I planted a bunch of peony bulbs from Costco, and they never came up! BOO!!! But guess what....today we checked...and there there were, peeking up from the soil!)
DH did all the planting, then we tore down our big sun shelter that bit the big one in the last big windstorm, and set up a new one in its place. I cleaned all the outside furniture and put it back under the gazebo.
I added some pretty rocks to the garden where there are some bare spots....we have TONS of rocks we've collected over the years.
I threw out a bunch of old stuff on the back patio, then hosed everything down. Luckily it was in the 70s today.
I know I'll probably pay for it tomorrow, but it sure felt good to MOVE today!
Still working on drinking down that daily gallon of water.....
-
Jaytee ... Congrats on getting your port out. After the soreness goes away I think it will feel soooo good. Although mine was never exactly painful it was uncomfortable at times. I'm a side sleeper and it would bother me a bit at night. I hope you had a wonderful dinner celebration and that your hubby continues to feel better. It sure has been a nasty cold season this year!
ATeamNana ... Wow, four boys!! Yep, there's plenty of exercise in chasing them around I bet! Okay, I've got to ask ... what on earth is a crockpot pizza? Sounds very interesting.
KinderKathy - I have to tell you ... you are an awesome cheerleader! I just know that you are going to be a wonderful grandma!
I've been trying to increase how much water I'm drinking too. However, even on my best day I'm only up to about four big glasses. I'll keep trying.
Okay ... I finally bought a scale. I was at our local club store and picked up this one.
I couldn't find a link for it other than this eBay link. I really can't believe that it can really measure bone mass and water but who knows. I just hope I don't break it when I step on it. LOL! It was only $29.99 but if it doesn't work it's going back. Well, unless it doesn't work because I break it. ;-)
Keep up the good work everybody!
-
The crock pizza had noodles, sausage, hamburger, Mariana sauce and a layer of Mozarella cheese on top. I had never heard of it either..I did ask for the recipe...I will share when I get it. My husband has to eat gluten free so I thought I may try it with Spaghetti squash.
Judy...I remember getting port out...I was so glad I had it but also glad to see it go...:) Plantlover...glad you finally found a scale you can give a whirl.
CookieMonster...my goal is about a pound a week also...I would like to keep it off..Congratulations!
Kathy...Grandparenting is the best! We had one child a son and he and his wife have 4 boys that are seven, five and two and a half year old twins....they do keep me hoppin'. We are fortunate...they live just down the street. ( watched the youngest three for an hour this evening, so the stair stepping will be put off until tomorrow:)...
Blessings...don't overdo it....but I'm sure it felt food to get outside.
Sorry if I missed anyone...I'm trying to bounce back and forth to see who is on here.
Marsha

Before I retire for the night, just wanted to pop in and say hi, and say thanks again to all of you ladies!!!! This Thread is so much fun!!!! Blessings 20, I am sure your garden will be beautiful!!!! Good to see you, Plantlover!!!!!! Janet, You will be a great grandma and your daugher is wise to get her PHD done first. Marsha, I would love your crock pot recipe!!!! You have 4 grandsons, that is wonderful. Good night!!!!!
-
Just a quick good morning! I think I'll take some veggies to Munch on today. And my good water bottle. Ran up and doe my small flight of stairs five times Whew that last trip up and down had me breathing heavy. Off to work. Have a good day everyone!!
-
Good Afternoon ladies!
ATeamNana: sounds like a healthy snack for work & taking your water bottle. Stair climbing is a good way to get a burst of aerobic exercise in.
The scale is down this week, but more importantly I believe my joints are feeling better with exercising more. Maybe some of the supplements I started are kicking in too.
I got up and did the treadmill this morning and then went food shopping. Came home & had a natural chicken sandwhich with cranberry sauce and lots of water. I'm off to the BIG club stores now. If I'm not too tired I will try to get a bike ride in. My son & his girlfriend are coming home for a visit from Philly tonight so I don't want to be too tired. I need a dose of family molecules as I haven't seen my kids since my surgery 1/17. This is way too long for me. If it was up to me I'd want them to live next door. But each have a career & school that dominates their choices for now. My daughter is coming home next weekend and we will celebrate her birthday that just passed.
Hello to everyone else and hope you are enjoying your day. Lets keep up the good work.
-
Hi All---------------today was sunny but chilly, worked a few hours then walked my 2 miles. Definitely had to bundle up with scarf and gloves today. I finished walking and went back to my car. Opened the trunk to get my purse out and as I am putting my scarf, gloves and heavier coat back in the trunk, I suddenly couldn't find my keys----checked my jean pockets, my heavy coat, my sweat jacket---no keys, I actually felt a bit of panic-----------duh, I had left them in the trunk keyhole! Can I still blame that on chemo brain or am I just a flibbertigibbet!!!
Some days I just wonder about myself. lol
tenaj---thats great you are seeing the scale go down----that is the best feeling when you see the hard work start to pay off. Have a great visit with your son and his GF this weekend!
Ateamnana----my daughter and I have discovered that we like spaghetti squash, do you cook with it alot?---have any interesting recipes? We tend to just saute it with some onions and garlic in a bit of olive oil or else just have it with spaghetti sauce. I need to find some other ways to serve it. Sounds like you had a good start to your day today with your stair exercise!
Blessings-----its amazing how good a workout you can get by doing yardwork, isnt it? We have a shed out back that really needs a good cleaning out. Am hoping that on DH's next day off we can tackle it. We keep talking about it but seem to always find something else to do.
Hi Plantlover--------good to see you----know what you mean about side sleeping with the port. I like to side sleep too----not very easy anymore on my surgery side, but when this heals up from having the port out, I think it will feel a lot better on that side. To remind myself to drink more water, I have been keeping a pretty glass or a wine glass by the kitchen sink---I just try to fill it up and drink a glass everytime I go in the kitchen.
Kindergarten-----sounds like you and your DH have so much fun walking and exercising together! The rest of the day just feels so much better after a long walk or bike ride. Do you know what color of dress you are going to look for, for the wedding?
Cookiemonster-----good for you on losing the weight. Keep on doing what you are doing. A steady loss is supposed to make it easier to keep the weight off. Wishing you continued luck in reaching your goal.
Everybody have a nice weekend! love and hugs, judy

Hi, Jaytee!!!!! I have done the same thing with my keys and many other things!!! Funny story, I was looking for my poise pads one day(I know, too much information), I thought to myself, where are they????? My husband was howling and said, they are in the freezer. I must have thought they were popsicles, he,he,he!!!!! Don't you worry, you are just fine!!!!!!Jaytee, I would love to find a dress or suit in navy blue, no luck yet, but I am waiting until I lose more weight. Thank you for asking!!!! Love to all you lovely ladies!!!!!
-
Funny stories. Hahaha. My best one was a couple weeks ago called my sister and told her I could not find my cell phone. She asked what was I talking to her on. DUH. Bingo. My cell phone.
Judy. I just recently discovered spaghetti squash also. I made lasagna with it with regular recipe just replaced the lasagna noodles with the oven cooked squash. I really neded more than one squash but it was good!
I did not drink enough water today but tomorrow is another day!
Tenaj. Have fun with family!
Best to all! -
Ah kindergarten, ATeam----so glad I am not the only one!!!
Still chuckling over the poise pads!
We need to laugh........almost makes you feel as good as the exercise does. Need a big old belly laugh sometimes. I remember as kids, my sisters and I could just get to laughing about something around the table until the milk was coming out our noses.......I miss those days. Saw my sisters last Sunday, and darn we were sitting around the table comparing our aches and pains until little sister finally said, lets change the subject! Let's look for the funny today.
Have a great day everyone-----love you all! judy

Does anyone remember going on vacation when we carried HUGE tote bags full of makeup and hair products so we'd look great whatever we did?
Now those HUGE tote bags are full of medications....so we can keep up our daily regimes, and feel good no matter what might happen, or where we are!!!
