    Hi, roxy42, I don't know if this will help you or not, but I took Arimidex for about 18 months before complaining about worsening side effects.  I was switched to Femara and they all went away.  My doctor said that Femara, Arimidex, and Aromasin all do about the same thing, but do it differently, and if you can't take one you might be able to take a different one.

    Best to you;

    Cathy

    Roxy, my onc put me on tomoxifen when Arimidex didn't work.  A lot of women do well on it.

    If you were on Arimidex for close to 5 years, then it should last for quite awhile after stopping.  The swallowing issue is not something your onc wants you to deal with.  Give yourself a break from the Arimedex for awhile and discuss with your onc what he thinks you should  do.  I guess you'll have to trust what he tells you.

    I would feel the same way Roxy.  My hugs and prayers are with you for a long BC-free life.

    Roxy.....I quit AI's after 3 1/2 years...the side effects were just too much....I'm at peace that I'm not on any thing.....I know that I increase my odds for a recurrence, but then again, there is not guarantee that the AI's keep up recurrence free.  Many oncs only keep patients on AI's for 5 years, so look at it as that you finished your Tx protocol...Celebrate this milestone.....and wishes that your throat study is normal....Hugs, Karen

    My ONC called me back and said to stick with the arimidex for 7 months and then I will be done.They dont think its the arimidex sence i have been on it almost 4 years and no swallowing problems till now.He said a reaction like that would happen soon after taking the med not 4 years later.He thinks the Oral thrush that i have had for two months went down my throat and his causing the swallowing problems.He put me on thrush med so we will see if it gets better and the throat scope in two weeks will show more........So i guess im staying on the arimidex for 7 mor months
