Charleston Bound, part 2

Adey- Both of my Stage 2's were in Charleston.

My first one, she did alot of lipo from my inner thighs (3 liters), some sculpting in the pubic area, removal of fat necrosis in 2 areas of the breasts, then filled in with fat.

My second one was more lipo (2.5 liters) from lower back, waist, DIEP scar revision, dog ear removal, a divot corrected where fat necrosis had been removed during 1st Stage 2, nipple recon, 9 moles removed, a skin lesion removed & biopsied, 11 skin tags removed.

I know it sounds like alot, but my first Stage 2 was the worst....the inner thigh lipo area was severely painful. Hardly any pain after 2nd Stage 2. First one was a 3 hr surgery.....2 drains. Second was about 6 hrs and no drains. Both were overnight and most of the next day in the hospital.  Now ready for tattoos sometime this summer!!

Like jeskachi said, Marga really wants to make sure the nips will be located in the right position before doing them, and therefore everything needs to be settled. She will make sure you are happy:)

Hi, I do not post much, but after much research, reading, and LOTS of obsessing I am excited and scared to tell you that I finally made my decision. I am scheduled for a unilateral SGAP with Drs. Kline and Craigie on June 7. Have 2 daughters graduating college this spring which will require some travel so delayed my date a bit. I have talked to a few of you here and want to thank you in helping make my decision. I am starting to make my travel arrangements, think there is some sort of art festival going on so hotels are filling up. I will stay in Charleston area for about a month,so looking at condos. I live out in the middle of nowhere in Wash state so afraid of returning home and experiencing complications. Not sure how I can take a month off  from everything, but this is too important so I will figure it out. Anyways, I will continue to read and learn from all of you brave women who have gone before me. Please let me know if there is anything you wish you would have known or done before surgery. There does not seem to be many on the schedule above, how do I get my name up?

Cascarder:  Congrats with deciding on your surgery.  Dr. Kline was the assisting for my bilateral SGAP I had Dr. Massey).  I have only heard the very best things about him - you will be in great hands.   Expect to continue with the obsessing until June - the surgery was all that I thought about/all I talked about until it was finally over.  Then you get to obsess about the healing and the results!  But I promise, eventually it all sinks in and you actually stop thinking about it all the time!  (And you forget about what life was like before the surgery - like I can hardly believe I actually had to wear a prosthetic and had just 1 breast - and I waited 5 years for reconstruction).

Adey- have been looking on vrbo.com, great site,waiting to hear back from a few. one of the less expensive places is a senior community with assisted living. while i am not quite a senior yet, i think after surgery i would fit in perfectly with the rest

LizR-altho you dont know it, you  have been quite an inspiration. I have seen your photos and if I can look anything close to your recon I will be thrilled! Obsessing is what I seem to do best.

AnneW-I am a former Boulderite. Married there and lived there for 11years, miss it so. Now living in Wash state in a tiny ski town where there are LOTS of Boulder people and former Buffs. Funny to see Ralphie on cars around here!

Tina - Not going to the March conference in DC but am scheduled to attend the April conference in NYC.  At least one woman on the NOLA thread is also going to the NYC conference.   Are you closer to DC?  Liz

Liz, I'm near Phila. My husband I planned a long weekend in DC since it's so pretty this time of year.




I would love to make a trip to Chicago, haven't been in so long. Have a soft spot in my heart for that city. I'm actually coming off a LE flare and being fitted for new sleeve and glove, not eager to travel. Was scheduled to fly in Apr, but I may be grounded for a bit.

Stacey- I thought the same thing after my DIEP. The severe abdominal pain was totally unexpected. I would do it again, as well. Soooo worth it. Glad to hear you are doing well. Do you have a Stage 2 date yet?

DC conference with Dr. Massey was terrific. It was great to see her after almost a whole year. New York, Chicago, and San Francisco, lookout! That woman's on a mission. Just love her!
