Very nice Anne!
-
Hi Anne - nice picture and great bio!
-
Just love it Anne! Great story and fantastic photo! Congrats on being Marga's first Mermaid of 2012!
-
Great job Anne! Love seeing you in action!!
-
Hi All, thought I might join. I was reading through the last few pages and thought I might fit. I am having DIEP Feb. 29th with Drs. Craigie and Kline. So Kasey is about a month a head of me and I too was wondering about hotels. They did give me a list in the packet, but I think we might have to look into something cheaper. Better Body Babe has been a great help. I too wanted to have doctors that were more permanent to their office and my own PS here in Greenville, SC recommended Craigie and Kline. I have implants in as of now and hate them. Can't wait to get these things out. They are too heavy and there is too much muscle involvement!
Kasey- it is good to see someone from my area. I have been on the boards since last summer and you are the first from the Upstate! Will be thinking about you in the next weeks. Let us know how you did and what you think.
Thanks all for letting me join in!
-
Anne- just read your wonderful story. Congrats on being the Mermaid of the Month!
-
Thanks!
Glad you are close enough to get to Charleston on a regular basis. That's peace of mind when you're starting this journey.
And believe me, I know what you're going through with the implants. Dr. Kline assisted Marga on my Stage 1, but I never met him. Both those guys do good work!
-
FYI for those who know Sherry but may not follow her on FaceBook--she finished her radiology program and got her dream job without having to relocate! She's thrilled!
-
Wow Anne! Wish we would have connected in NOLA. My stage two is on 3/15. Can't wait.
-
Anne, thanks for the update on Sherry. I guess I missed it on FB.
-
Can anyone tell me why I might not get email notifications for this site anymore? I use to. I've checked my spam and they are not in there. I don't get Groupons anymore either!!
-
Linda, I think you have to go to each thread in the Index. Right below the title of the thread it will have a place you can click to Add email notification. That's the only way I know. For email notifications for PM's and bc.org info, you can go to My Preferences at the top of the page in the right hand corner. I don't know about Groupons.
-
Joni, That's what's so weird about this. I do have " Add email notifications" on and I still don't get them. Also, I looked at my preferences and they are all checked to send me what I requested. Just to be sure, below each thread I have clicked on the notifications and it says "add email notifications", or should it say remove email notifications, because I already clicked it to add......make sense? Thanks!
I've email Garin to see if the Mermaid reunion is still going to happen or not, but haven't heard back.
-
Let us know if you hear anything, Linda. And the exact weekend. I would like to come, if I'm not too bogged down in Pilates training. Then again, I could teach you all how to do Pilates and get credit for it!
-
Linda, if you've alread clicked it and should be getting the email notification then it should say "remove email notification". Wonder if it's some setting with your email....how weird? I sent Dr M an email about some stuff and also asked her about the reunion. I just found out my first grandbaby is due Aug 2. I'm going to hate if I have to miss the reunion....but being here for my grandbaby's birth would have to take precedence. But if there is any way I will be there. Just makes planning hard!!!!
-
Hey Everyone! I'm getting very excited and nervous. We are leaving out Monday afternoon since my MRA is pretty early. I'm just dreading the pain and feeling of being knocked down per say. Wish me luck my surgery is Wednesday : )
Stacey- Glad to see another upstate gal. I live in Easley. Dr. Blouin did my mastectomy and Dr. deBrux did my initial reconstruction until I elected to have my expanders removed. He also sent me to Charleston. There are 2 ladies in my support group that Kline and Craigie did and they look awesome. Wishing you much luck and if you ever want to get together let me know : )
-
Reunion? Can I come too?! (c:
-
Kasey- I am in Simpsonville! It's a small world. I am glad to hear that you know people that had Kline and Craigie and are happy with their results. I just noticed that our DX dates are one day apart. I was Dx on 9/23/10 I could not get in with Dr Blouin till a month later so I decided not to wait and ended up with a wonderful surgeon. Dr. Keller did my reconstruction, but it did not work out with my body type. He did everything right, it just looks really bad. He is also the one who recommended Kline and Craigie. I just wish that someone in our area did it. I would love to meet up with you sometime! Will be thinking about you next week!! Can't wait to hear how it went.
-
Drains for two more weeks.... oh well. (c: I'll look at it this way, I ONLY have two more weeks. Marga says a 2B is in my future so I'm thinking I can maybe do that one in SC. I hear it's beautiful. Happy Tuesday.
-
Hi Mamachick, I am sorry that your reconstruction didn't turn out well. Is Dr. Keller a PS and a micro-surgeon besides? Also, did he have someone assisting him with your surgery? All of the top notch PS that I know of use a second Dr. to help in the reconstruction. It is a must! I had Dr. Massey and Dr. Craigie assisted her. Your reconstruction can be fixed. You should try either Craigie and Klein or my personal favorite is Dr. Massey. I traveled from MI for my surgery to SC. If anyone has a difficult body type it is me and Dr. M did a wonderful job. You are in SC, right? How far are you from Charleston? I hope you reconsider another opinion. You will be glad you did. What type of reconstruction did you have?
Marga's Mermaids....haven't heard from Garin yet. I think I will send her another email. Stay tuned.

BUMP!

Less than one week and I'm free!

Hi Gals! I am leaving for Charleston this Saturday (my next Stage 2 with Dr. M is Tuesday, 1/31). Looking forward to a fun weekend in Charleston and some downtime on Monday. Traveling alone this time - my 18 year old son is flying down here solo on Tuesday evening. Let's hope his travel is uneventful - he will be taking a shuttle to Newark, changing planes in NC, taking a shuttle to the hotel & then a taxi to the hospital! And this is his first time flying alone! He's a great kid and will get a chance to visit College of Charleston on Wednesday (he was accepted but undecided). I hope to get donor site revisions, nipple revision & lots of leg lipo! Will let you know how it goes.
For anyone thinking of surgery in Charleston - we just love the Charleston docs - don't think you could make a better choice! Take care! Liz
-
good luck Liz! Are you going to be there in time for her seminar on Saturday?
-
Wow, Liz!! So jealous you get to see my favorite Dr. AND Charleston!! Just love that place. My DH always says he wished he could have gone to college there. Just love the setting and atmosphere. What a great son you have!!
I'll be interested in knowing how your nipple revisions turn out. Does she just inject with more fat or is there tissue involved?
Mine appear to be very nice, but when touched they are totally flat. They started the size of a grape, so alot of shrinkage has occurred. I almost can't justify another surgery, but wonder, nonetheless. Have been talking to Dr M about coming there for Vinnie to do my tattoos at some point this year. Is he doing yours while you are there? He will be doing tats in Charleston Feb 1 & 2. I'm hoping to come out later in the summer maybe. I always think....maybe just a little more lipo....lol. Hugs & will be thinking of you.
Joni
-
Hi Liz...I will be thinking about you! Have a fun weekend! So excited you were able to finally get to Charleston, and getting a have a girls weekend makes it better! Your son will do great!
Looking to hear from you on the other side! Ask Marga about the reunion...push for late July! Give her a hug!
XOXO,
Sandy
-
So, is this reunion only for Charleston gals or can a NOLA mermaid come too? I was hoping to do stage two in Charleston but didn't want to wait until May. Maybe stage 2B, as Marga says there is one in my future. (c:
Liz- Good luck on your stage two. I can't wait for mine. And I still have drains from stage one.
-
LindaG47- Sorry I haven't been on in several days. My PS does not do DIEP so I have already consulted with Dr. Craigie in Charleston and he and Dr. Kline are doing a diep on me Feb. 29th. I am so excited. I put off even thinking about diep for the longest time, because I would have to go out of town, but now I know it won't be that much of an inconvenience. I will send my DH home to work for a few days while I am in the hosp. My mom is planning on going with me and she will stay with me after he goes home. Oh, too, I had TE's placed at BMX with 800cc's implants placed last June. Let's just say they sunk and look like I have nothing. And they are heavy and they hurt! Can't wait till Feb.
-
Thanks for the well wishes! Brenda, I will miss the symposium -meeting up with my best friend from college and don't think it will be her cup of tea. I do hope to go to a symposium in the future- maybe DC.
I really don't know what to expect this time! My reconstructed nipple might be a little askew (thought so when I first came home - but more recently it looked even - until I saw my photos!) - and it is very wide and flat - needs help! Have no idea what she has planned! I have some minor complaints about my donor site but not sure what can be done (areas of puffiness - maybe scar tissue?). My #1 request is more tush definition (which I hope is lipo under the tush). I asked if I am ready for a tattoo - I bet she says to wait. I can't wait to see Dr. M and get to Charleston - I am really looking forward to this trip. Will post when I am done! Take care! Liz
-
Love you Liz!!!! Wish I was ther with you!!!! Just know I will be thinking about you. Do you still have my cell number? Text me as soon as you can...just have to know you are alright!
Sandy
