Happy Birthday Sheila, hope it was a great day. The kitten sounds wonderful.
Yesterday was full on as I had DGS for the whole day and he was great but has to be watched all the time. He's not walking yet but still he is fast getting places.
It is playgroup today which I could do without as I am not feeling so lively, my shoulder is still a problem and I think I am getting a cold.
Big big hugs to all.

Alyson, I finally gave my son my playpen. Does'nt anyone use those anymore? She would just follow George wherever he crawled all around the house. I thought that was a bit silly. Just put him in a playpen! How did she go to the bathroom???? We had the playpen for OUR house, but as we're not seeing them as much as we thought, we gave it up. I think it has saved her sanity!! But, I must say, when we were over last month, George knew which of the electronics he was allowed to touch. He had an HDMI cable and kept trying to put the male end in the female end. He's going to be one NEXT month! How the heck do they learn that stuff so young???

thanks for the hb wishes for mur, sheila: im glad its YOU who got the "hussy" for the day, and not HIM!!!hahaha really, a kitten and a kindle.. how wonderful that day was for you!!!!.......3jays

Swooping by to say hi to all but no time to stay and read to catch up. Just back from a 7 hour round trip drive to the east coast of FL to pickup a hard drive with data I must have for tomorrow. Sheesh am I beat. 3Jays, it was Stuart, way north of you or I would have come by. Heading for night night.
-
Barb you can't expense a messenger or something? That sounds brutal!
Ginger
-
My thought exactly, Ging, but I needed to have this first thing. Working on it now.
-
Barbara, it took 7 hours for you to get it home. A courier would have taken 3.5 hours to get it to you. I did the math. Do I win? Will you hire me???
-
I will add, in Barbara's defence, that the company I work for in Toronto would send it's hard drives to Edmonton for repair!! That blew my mind, it's over 3,000 miles away!!!! They flew them overnight and the techs got them the next day, worked on them and sent them back. Sorry, wouldn't it just be cheaper to get a new hard drive?????? I used to save all my data to a zip drive in-case they couldn't fix my hard drive anyway....maybe they didn't give us enough credit to do that?
-
The issue is that the guy with the VPC image (on his laptop drive) I needed is on a boat in a marina with no transportation to go buy an external hard drive to copy the thing to and ditto to get to FedEx. He couldn't courier it as it is his laptop. What a PITA it was but I have been working on it since 7.
-
I hope you get good mileage $$. I know you won't get comp time. right. Remember comp time when you had to fly out on a Sunday or back on a Saturday or in at 11:30 PM. My husband had that about 20 years ago and it sort of made up for all the crazy hours. I don't know exactly where it went but he snorts if I even suggest the idea now. A place he worked for back then even had a program where they gave you up to five percent of your gross to cover any medical or dental expense that was not already covered by the excellent insurance plans. It was wonderful. Even braces or cosmetic dentristry. Ah the days gone by.

3Jays I am thinking of you. Try and make the best of what you can, and get some rest to recover.
All the snow and ice has gone here, it's now just miserably cold and windy ! Roll on spring and summer. I have daffodils poking up 5"-6"...tulips just behind, nothing flowering yet, and lots of crocus and snowdrops flowering their little hearts out. I can't even be bothered to walk around my garden to look properly as it's so cold. I just watch things altering from the warmth of my house ! I am still wrapped up in thermal undies, Tshirt, rugby shirt and body warmer ! I look about 3 sizes bigger than normal. This year, for the first time I have taken to wearing thick sox in the house. I have always been a barefoot person, but the cold has won me this year. Bedtime is as bad. Thermal undies, thick PJs and fuzzy bed jacket...plus silly bed sox that G/son bought me.
I have been living in the kitchen since just after Christmas, I never let the log burning stove go out, plus 2 big central heating radiators on most of the day. My computer is jammed up against one of the radiators, so I manage to keep lovely and warm thru' the day. I can't see the sense in going into my sitting room. Being alone it's not worth the bother of heating it up to go sit alone...so I have shut off that part of the house...when I have to nip quickly to the downstairs toilet ( which is in the shut off part ) it's like going into the arctic ! I have a big leather swivel armchair at my computer so am quite comfy...and best of all I have my dogs fighting among themselves to get to be the nearest one to me and sit on my feet ! I also get 2 sausage dogs up in my chair with me...and they sit smirking down at the others, saying 'look at us...we're the favorites' ( that's what I let then think !)
I haven't been out very far for about 10 days...I enjoy the quiet...but I start a round of doctor and dentist appointments next week... whoopee... so will have to sort out my hair...it's gone sort of wild ! I am growing it to have it cut, if you understand what I mean....it has got quite witchlike now....so have been scraping it back into a pony tail ( I usually have a long layered bob ) Hairdresser booked for Monday...I shall have to look half normal before I go back into civilisation.
Had a bit of excitement 2 days ago, big hot air balloon came down a few yards from my garden...the dogs went absolutely wild...some were barking like mad, and trying to get thru' the fence to get to it, and some were very frightened, particularly as the balloon lost height, and the gas burner was hissing away !! Had the support vehicles (2 ) trying to open my locked gates to get through the farmyard to get to the balloon, but I couldn't be bothered to hobble outside to unlock everything, then out again when they'd finished to lock up after them, and made them drive around !! My 2 Rotweillers were going ballistic, bouncing up and down at the locked gates, so I don't really think they'd have wanted to get into the farmyard anyway.

Way behind in this room! Had to jump to the end, and there I found a lovely post by Isabella, whose posts never ever disappoint me and always lift me!! Bella, I just love your story telling abilities, please know that
Love and hugs to you all. Things are good in MaryWorld this week. Gearing up for dd's shower next week, and the wedding 5 weeks after that ... yikes!

Isabella, I can relate to the cold completely!!! Since going on Thyroxine I have actually been COLD!!! It is truly a new phenomenon for me!!! Seriously!! I could stand outside in a snow storm and talk with my DH who is shoveling and is all bundled up and I'm in a t-shirt!! Being cold HURTS sometimes!!! My core shakes...maybe this will help me lose the extra weight, because being over-heated certainly didn't.
I, Barbara, now sleep with SOCKS on!!!! I cannot believe it myself!! This is just so new to me that every day is a surprise!! I am now shivering at my computer all dressed AND with a sweater, where normally I sit here in my nightie!!! I am COLD!!!!

I have just got off the 'phone after a marathon squawk at ex DH
This time he has surpassed himself. I have been to DDs for a couple of hours this afternoon...nice quiet time, she was alone, so I jumped in the car and went to have a chat with her....something I don't often get to do, she always seems to have someone with her whenever I see her.
Pulled into the yard when I got back, parked my car in the garage, and thought 'what a lovely fresh smell, just smells like summertime when the lawn has been cut' Walked thru' the house, let the dogs outside and did a double take at my lawn ...it was all striped. This is February and some idiot had decided to cut my lawns...and there's only one idiot I know who would do that !!
I am just lost for words at the moment...I had 6" of snow and ice out there 5 days ago...I don't really think the grass WILL come to any harm, but I was NOT telling DH that.. as far as he thinks he has completely ruined all my grass !!! He hardly got a word in, when I caught up with him on the 'phone, and if he made some sort of excuse I never listened to what it was !! I am actually laughing now, at the stupidity of it...a stripey lawn in February, I just don't believe what I am looking out at....we could get 2 feet of snow before winter is out ( don't think so, but it HAS happened ) There is an answer ...hide the keys to the lawnmower, but then I would forget where I'd put them by the time it the lawns really needed cutting.

February lawn mowing in England? I wonder what he thought he was doing? I am surprised he didnt make ruts in the lawn.
I watched all of Downton Abby seasons one and two in the last couple weeks. I love it and can't wait for season three. I found myself staying up all night last night watching episodes five through nine! I felt addicted, I didn't want to stop. A good sort of addiction I suppose.

Isabella - Love to read all your stories and adventures. I am sure you ex DH did not know what had hit him when you were done with him. Glad you got a chance to visit with your DD. I know I really miss getting time with my DDs.
-
Isabella, your tales of the bucolic life in England crack me up!

Yes, Lisa, we had a very liberal interpretation of honest Abe's looks. Thank goodness for the professional sand sculptor who helped us.
