DH said call dr, I said I willI call my bc friends
Prior to bc, I had a regular menstrual cycle. Started radiation in June, and have not had a period since. I asked my RO if the rads stopped my period. He said no. He said I was probably starting the change of life. Fast forward. Started tamo in Aug, Haven't had a period in 8 months. Woke up this morning bleeding, extremely heavy. Should I be concerned? Is this a SE from the tamox?

one can never to safe, I would call the dr, and I would google the rads to see, I have found different drs give different answers, but thats just me

Could this be normal perimenopause?
To my knowledge, rads does not stop periods but ladies on tamox can have periods.
I'm sure you will get replies soon from ladies on Tamox. -
I'm not on tamox, but flooding periods are certainy part of periemenopause. A heavy period may be due to it being such a long time since your last time. The periods may have paused because of stress -- BC and starting rads is definitely stressful.
It's still a good idea to call your doctor, probably your gyn or MO.
Good luck.

I've never heard of rads impacting your period but tamox increases the risk of uterine/endometrial cancer. I'm on it and both my MO and gyno said to let them know if I have any unusual patterns of bleeding or discharge. Your GYNO may want to do a pelvic ultrasound and/or uterine biopsy. I'm not a doctor so it's very possible this is normal (and prior to BC, my family doc had said that some women have heavier periods as they go into menopause--go figure--so it's possible it's completely normal but I'd say see the doc. Better safe than sorry).
FWIW, there have been similar discussions in the hormone forum so you may find more info there (and/or more responses if you post the question there)

Thank you ladies for your responses. I guess I will call my mo. I am just so tired of drs, test, etc. I am sure you ladies can all relate to that. Was just told last week, have to get surgery on my face. Skin cancer. Not a big deal, it is basil cell carcinoma. They will remove it, then graph the area.

I hear ya. I went through the whole pelvic routine last fall, less than six months after finishing Tx. It's a drag. Before I went on tamox I asked my MO how they deal with the unusual but serious SEs, like uterine cancer and she said they set a very low threshold for investigating things. So if they suggest the U/S it's not immediately bad news. They're being super careful. Sorry to hear about your basal cell. Last summer, a few months after rads, I saw a dermatologist cuz I could swear one of my (many) moles on my breast went from being flat to 3-D. The dermatologist said it was fine but she found a weird shaped mole on the back of my thigh. Great. We removed it and it was nothing but at some point it feels like too much. Good luck with everything. Good to stay on top of it.
