Good Afternoon Everyone!
I just got back from a trip to walmart in Roanoke (about an hour away) to pick up a prescription, only to be told it was "too soon." arghh. It's a controlled substance and apparently there is some concern I may be selling the drug on the streets. Dammit .. now I have to drive all the way back up there when I get home from my trip.
Happy .. I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. I know how sad you must be, especially cause you just lost your mom too. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow when you have your surgery. Hope things go smoothly and your recovery is quick.
Scoot ... I am ashamed to live in Virginia.
Chaplain ... Hope you're enjoying your special day.
Rabbit ... Love the vintage appliances. I onced owned an old home and I did the kitchen in vintage 50's .. it was so cute.
Otter ... I'm glad you're almost home ... I've missed you.
Well, I need to pack and get my act together. We have to leave for the airport at 4 a.m. so I better get things ready to go today.
hugs all round,
Bren

Bren
Have a good trip.
Chaplin
Have a Happy Birthday.
Wabbit
Love the appliances.
Everybody
Those perky picture of Cheryl Crowe are not to my liking either. Maybe if she didn;t have such a great big HAPPY smile about the whole thing.
-
Blue
So good to see you. I have missed you.
Sorry for the serial posting. It must be the ADHD.
-
HL - so sorry about your sister. This is really, really hard.
Joining all in not loving seeing sheryl crow's grinning face surrounded in pink - with an "offer to buy" - I AM SO SICK OF CAUSE RELATED MARKETING - I will NEVER ever, buy anything with pink - NEVAH! Send the $$ to whoever is working to find the scientific cause, and hopefully cure.
SICK SICK SICK of folks trying to raise money for "education" - if there's anybody who doesn't know about breast cancer, I wish them continued wellness hiding under what ever duvets, covers they're under. But, those spreading the need for "education" are paying themselves some whomping big salaries...anyone else feel used???
More hugs to HL....healing thoughts....so, so, so hard.
-
Scoot, they'll have to pry my Keurig from my cold, dead hands. BTW, you can buy a reusable K-cup with a gold filter that fits in the Keurig. You can fill it with whatever you please. I like to put hot chocolate mix in mine. And I occasionally treat myself to a half-pound of Jamaica Blue Mountain, and that goes into it, too.
-
Dropping by to offer HL gentle hugs and to offer my condolences. It is very hard.
Happy BDAY Cherryl!
Scoot, how ignorant. I am appalled by all this religious ranting going on in the <unnamed>. This should be about the economy stupid. I am quite fearful of the mounting deficit. Thinking about relocating while I still can.
-
A toast to our chief bartender.
Barbara, where are you thinking of going?
-
Friends, thanks so much for the good wishes. The day has been absolutely great, even though it involved a trip to the DMV (I got the only friendly clerk there) to renew the old driver's license and a session with Julie the Torture Goddess (personal trainer)!! Day off work - very good.
Libby, I'm pacing my self so I can be there tomorrow to keep an eye on everyone. The champagne will be chilled for the celebration afterwards.
Bren, have a good flight and a fun time with you family.
Getting ready for dinner with friends. More later.
-
Cherry, I have never met you but just from the little you say you sound like such a kind, wonderful person. You deserve every happiness of the day. BTW, a bit of torture is good! Makes you feel less guilty about b'day cake. :-)
"Athena", who is set for a 6 am cycling class tomorrow.
-
Athena (who is nuts to be cycling at 6AM) I am thinking of heading to the Caymans. I have many friends there and visit regularly. In fact, am heading there in October for our vacay.
-
Athena, I didn't know there was such a thing as 6am! Thanks for sharing!!!
ETA: thanks for your kind words. I try to be a good person. but then, some nutjob steps in and I go "angry black woman" on them.
-
Hey, if it's a nutjob, they deserve "angry black woman" - whatever that means! :-)
"Athena" the sane.

-
Athena,
Earlier this year a book about the Obama's was published that described Michelle as "an angry black woman" because she's forthright, strong willed, opinionated. Traits I admire and like to think that I also possess. The right wing sees this as a negative in a black person, especially a woman, hence, the "angry black woman" tag. I guess we are suppose to be plastic with perfect hair, ala Calista. Anyway, before this is deleted as being too political and disruptive, I'd better end my wine infused post. But I just wanted to give you an idea of what I meant by that phrase.
I shall always remain your loyal chaplain and bartender!!
PS Champagne on the house. It's my party and I'll do what I want to!
-
Hear hear!
Barbara, you ended up being right. It's 6:18 and too late for my class.....I neded more sleep, I suppose. Oh, well, will stop by my club after work.
-
Hey, sleep is way more important to me than exercise but I really need to get my lazy behind in gear...just not at 6 AM.
-
Hi Everybody!
I'm in beautiful sunny San Diego! I love it here. It's so great to see my son and his family. My mom is here visiting with me too. We're going to t-ball practice this afternoon and karate class tomorrow.
I almost missed my connection in Atlanta. There was some kind of mechanical failure with the plane leaving out of Greensboro. arghhh.
I've met the Chaplain and she is a lovely person. She's very tiny ... a little mighty might! She's warm and kind and loving.
I just checked in on the Komen thread. Yikes!
Hope everyone is having a good day.
hugs,
Bren
-
Waving at Bren! Hope you have a really great time!!
Barkeep, a Dewars neat is very much indicated today.
-
Getting ready to do a "Spa night" for my daughter's Brownie troop.
Please keep a drink or two for me when it is over...
Happy Birthday Cherryl and hugs to you HL.
-
Bren
Have a really good time!!!
HL
I hope everything went well.
-
Ang, a nice glass of Chardonnay is called for. I'll buy you one.
-
Rosemary, you need a shot of Jaegar for the crappy cold stuff you have going on. I swear it helped me back when I used to get colds.
-
Sounds good Barbara.
I have just returned from an alternate universe. Curiouser and curiouser.
Or is that alternative universe?
-
Thanks Barbara.
Spa night for 7-8 year old girls is not very calm.
Not many wanted the "icky face mask" or the cucumber slices on their eyes.
Ate lots of finger sandwiches and enjoyed getting their manicures/pedicures.
-
Rosemary, you reminded me of a poster I just saw, showing a photo of the all-male congressional committee discussing contraception. It was labelled "Masters of the Uterus"....
-
Men never learn.

Stage II DIEP surgery complete ... Now on to ooph later this spring.
Was home by 5 pm or so last night. The PS pronounced himself very pleased with results. Scootaloo and DH were here to keep an eye on me. Nobody even brought dilaudid near me, so I had no hallucinations. 12.5 mg of demarol took care of the pain in recovery, plus one tylenol 3 while I was waiting to go home. One more tylenol 3 before sleep last night, and now I am back to regular tylenol. I have on binder and surgical bra and DH hasn't unwrapped me to change dressings yet, so I don't quite know how I look. But I feel pretty good, except for sore throat from intubation.
Ain't modern medicine grand?
XOXO to all, and thank you for you hugs and love and support!
L -
{{HL}} So glad you are done! And still with us and not in lala land!
-
((((HL)))))
Man, this is good to hear! With all that you have going on I was quite worried. Nothing better than quickie surgery. I bet you will really have great results. Send Scoot and your DH my best.
Phew!
-
HL - sounds like you've had a good experience - hope you're happy with the outcome!!
