Today my good food choice was...

Today's good choices have been 2 large green teas, cut up melon and broccoli for lunch along with a 1/2 red pepper hummus wrap with olives, spinach and tomato.
I believe tonight I will be making chicken curry (organic skinless/boneless chix thighs) basmati rice, stewed eggplant and peas. The curry sauce is from Trader Joes, as well as the stewed eggplant.
This weekend we will be celebrating my 40th birthday, so I will treat myself with a dessert--but don't have the desire, want or need to have red meat. Husband asked if I would be having a filet, but don't have the craving for it anymore. I might have a glass of red wine, or maybe even champagne.

-
Went out tonight, and chose asparagus chicken (breast) with black bean sauce and skipped the rice entirely. Yummy.
-
SAB-sorry it didn't work outwith the lima beans...maybe not your cup of tea?
I go for anything if it contains garlic... -
Wow! Corrine! Marathon plan and nipples, very nice

This evening:
Smoke cheese risotto with cold beet root gravy and fresh beet root/carrot/garlic/roasted sesame seed salad. Served witha green drink and cold green tea on the side.
-
Susan-Don't be sorry (unless you pity my cooking skills haha) I'll keep trying!
Something easy tonight then...multigrain pasta with a nice fresh chopped tomato, garlic and basil topping.
-
Black beans and salsa, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño and a little organic cheese on low carb whole wheat tacos. They were good!
-
organic chicken, I am putting more seasonings on it, pepper, basil, a little salt... on romaine with Italian dressing. green tea this evening. OH, and I had 71% chocolate that I found without soy at Whole Foods. I am trying to get a green drink every day before lunch.
-
Multigrain vegan pancakes with my daughter. Ate them with just a drop of agave (they were pretty sweet already, since we substituted apple sauce for the egg and vanilla almond milk for the milk and oil.) We had them with berries and banana.
-
Made the family organic honey and buckwheat pancakes this morning. I love them topped with lingonberries and maple syrup. Felt like it was cheating, but really not that bad after all, due making them whole grain.
-
Checking in, been away from boards for a bit....
-
I made myself a piece of salmon and broccoli, cauliflower and some artichoke bottoms, all steamed, with Greek garlic dip on the side (helps against the inflammation from the rads).
-
Hi Sagina. I hope all is well...nice to see you.
Yesterday we took a drive to see my elder DD at school. I made the questionable choice of aloo gobhi and nan for lunch at her favorite restaurant. "Paid the piper" later by having a big green salad, pears and clementines for dinner.
-
SAB,
I had aloo paratha for breakfast. I keep eating carbs all the time
-
I had green tea for breakfast and panang curry with veggies today for lunch. Tonight I will have my leftover salmon from last night's dinner and some steamed brocolli.
-
I'm making spinach pie for dinner (minus the crust, so it's really spinach goop for dinner)
-
Last night I made a quiche. I used organic eggs, organic whole wheat flour, organic spinach, organic onion, organic milk and feta cheese. It was pretty good. Have a bunch of eggs and a big tub of feta cheese in the fridge I need to use up. I had a piece for breakfast this morning and will be having another tomorrow. I am the only one eating the leftovers. sigh
-
kay- I would love those leftovers. Quiche is one of my favorites.
-
kay-I hate waste, so I'll be right over to help you eat that! I will pick up Ceeztheday on the way.
Today's breakfast was a bowl of mixed organic berries and banana sprinkled with "not-sweet" granola. Lunch was leftover whole wheat pasta with organic (jarred) sauce. Snacked on Kashi 7-grain crackers and green tea. Dinner is a little bit of brown rice, a little bit of chicken breast and lots of herb salad.
BelaT-I know what you mean about carbs--it's the only thing that makes me feel full. I am working hard to substitute whole grains. Still high in calories, but healthier at least.
-
I've been drinking cactus pear tea. It's supposed to be high in antioxidants (www.nopalea.com), also green tea as well
-
Does anyone here do any of the "Green" powders like Green Vibrance? A friend of mine has been doing this for almost 3 months and swears that she has more energy and that her mid forties skin has taken on a dewy complexion.
I went to the health and vitamin store last night and Green Vibrance was sold out, and was told that there is a waiting list. However when reading the brochure today, I see that it has flaxseed, which I am trying to avoid since I am ER/PR+ (strongly).
Also, the sales clerk was telling me that he and his wife (who had uterine cancer) eat for their blood type and showed me a book that they have behind the counter. I had never heard of this, but a quick scan of the book showed that as a A blood type, I should be high in carbs, low in fat, and a vegetarian. Has anyone here followed this or even heard of this? At first glance, it sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but I am interested in finding out more about this, just out of curosity.
-
Sab, Thanks for making me not feel awful about my choice. ahd egg toast and aloo parath for breakfast.
Tonite dal(lentil) may be.
CorinneM1,
I have not heard of anything about that but sounds interestin.
Thanks
bela
-
Corinne, the bloodtype diet is complete and utter hooey.
-
miranda kerr claimed she lost weight by eating by her blood type. i agree with momine though, and wouldn't try it.
I AM interested in the green powders, just to be sure I'm getting in all my veggies. let us know if you try it!
I'm having a chickpea curry for lunch today w/ a cup of green tea
-
DD is feeling a bit under the weather, so I am making soups for her to last the week--her favorite carrot soup and a minestrone without pasta. I'm having my berries and granola for breakfast again (yay for Costco carrying organic fruit!!), making a white bean hummus and cut up veggies to have for lunch and for dinner DH is getting tilapia with black bean sauce, roasted cauliflower and grilled bok choy. DD and I will stick to the veggies with brown rice.
I don't know anything about the blood type diet, but doesn't it seem like we SHOULD be able to tailor our nutrition more precisely? My DH is always wishing for a blood test you could take to pinpoint vitamins and supplements.
My question is, does anyone out there drink Macha tea?
-
We have a cousin who has been heavily into every alternative scam out there. At one point it was the bloodtype diet, and she was of course trying to convince the rest of us to join her.
At one point I asked her how these endless lists of foods were compiled. According to her, a small amount of the food is put next to blood of each type and if the blood shrinks from the food, that food is a no-no for that bloodtype. I think I will pass.
The basic premise is that each bloodtype corresponds to a historic lifestyle, like hunting or agriculture, but even that is pushing it (since bloodtype is not necessarily related to other traits) and would still not explain why a given bloodtype should eat beans, but stay away from artichokes. -
Today's good food choices included a half a portabello mushroom/wheat pita sandwich, cup of sliced carrots and olives and an orange.
Heads up--Whole Foods is having a 1 day sale on Friday on their whole organic chicken at $1.99 a lb, limit 10 chickens.
-
That is good! Thanks for the tip.
-
Thanks Corrine! See you there :-) Roasted chicken Saturday!
Momine-Now that's scary "science." Scarier because some people believe it.
-
had a bowl of bran flakes w/ almond milk, added chia seeds, raisins, and sliced banana w/ a cup of green tea for breakfast
fyi whole foods is also having a sale on organic blueberries this week! $3.99/pint
-
I am juicing to get my green drink. I am wondering if the Green powder form loses the antioxidents???
