Oh, and Ginger, I'm sure that lady is enjoying your copy of JFK's death!!! No one could be stupid enough to "discard" that, right? She kept it for herself!!

barbe, are you getting ready for your op ??  Not long now. Good Luck with it. I'm sure we will all be thinking of you on Monday.

I had a wierd call from my new GP today...I'm beginning to get a bit 'iffy' about her.

I had a call from the surgery about a week ago... would I be by the phone Friday @ 3.20. she wanted to talk to me ? Phone went dead on time, and Dr said ' Hello, what can I do for you today ?' What ?? She asked me to be there to take her call ! I explained that she'd left me a message via her receptionist that she wanted to discuss something with me, and she started back tracking, asking questions about which drug did I want to discuss with her !! I had to say , in the end, 'it's YOU who wants to do the discussing...I'm OK thankyou very much !!! A minute or two of silence while she swished thru' my recent computer notes, then she came up with 'I need you to take extra beta blockers'

I did see  Professor Hall, my cardiologist, about 3 weeks ago, and he had told me to up my beta blockers by ONE tablet a day, making it 3 a day I take now....but GP tells me Prof. Hall had written to her and said take FOUR a day. I have been checking up on dosage, and it seems a lot to me. I also read 3 cases where the patients had been taken into hospital for between 2 and 5 days ( in Canada) to slowly adjust upwards these particular tablets, under supervision.  As DH actually drove me to the hospital, and came in with me to the appointment, I rang him to see if he remembered what had been said, and he said straight out, 'you should be taking 3 tablets now' I am just sooo sick of the mix ups we get here...one day they will kill me !!!!

Latest article in our press today was to say that you are 17% more likely to die if taken into hospital on a Saturday or Sunday, than the rest of the week. Junior doctors mis- diagnosing conditions , and specialists having weekends off !!!One way of reducing the population ! I just worry when I go dotty, and I surely will...who will shout up for me then. I am always questioning and arguing with my doctors now. I actually always ask for the named specialist on my case, if I don't like the look, or attitude of a youngster, but what happens when we HAVE to just do as we are told !! Can't speak up for ourselves ??... and I don't ever look for any help from DD with things medical, she is pretty hopeless, and will probably just go along with whatever is suggested should I ever find myself in that position.

I am off for a nice hot shower, and to forget about all things medical for a while. Snow, deep snow, is forecast tomorrow...'dissruptive falls' say the forecast tonight. I hope it starts early then I won't get a houseful of assorted children and grandchildren....it's Saturday..and usually my morning is taken up chattering ! I prefer to be quiet ! I am right in the middle of some intricate sewing, and want to shut myself away and finish it !!

When I went to the ER the other day I realized my husband gets really nervous in that situation and I should have a list of all my medicines in my bag, including vitamins.

I was in a lot of pain so I wasn't very coherent myself. How to keep tack of all this should simpler.

Have a nice quiet day sewing. :)

Ginger, Glad you are on the mend as I said on the other thread.  Really it's amazing how painful something like that can be, plus it's scary because you don't really know what it is you are dealing with and the big C is always there in the back of our minds as the root of it all.   Barbe, I will be thinking about you on Monday and saying my prayers.  Isabella,   Hope they get your straightened out....once you have your back surgery, we will never be able to keep up with you as you do more than the average bear now. Dr's do get things screwed up unless they are reading the chart in front of them.  The guy who did my replacement knee, I really like, but he gets confused a lot...I would go in for a check up on my knee and he would say something like Let's see, are we looking at that shoulder of yours?....However this guy was the one who discovered the mets to my sacrum the lst time so I trust him.

I know this is going to make you worry, Barbe since you cautioned me on the nexium.....I am now taking it twice a day...as well as a generic Reglan three times a day.  This acid reflux or heartburn or whatever was BAAADD.  So we are trying this and also I am on a bland diet and if things don't improve, the GP said I am off to the gastroentinologist (sp).  Mac and cheese is on the no list....how sad.

My husband's brother makes a living selling things on Ebay.  In fact Tim went off to meet him somewhere close to us this morning at an auction of a old clothing store that is going out of business.  A few weeks ago he was here and went to an auction at a church that had closed....buys church pews and makes two out of them, got a really nice chandelier and some cabinets.  He refinishes things and then sells them for a lot more than what he paid for them.  I need to look and see what a Mulberry handbag looks like, Isabella. I have learned all sorts of fashion things from you....like a fascinator and when the royal wedding came, I knew what they were because of you!

I had planned on going to my Dad's this weekend, but between the pain in my leg which I am afraid PT is not helping and this digestive problem, I am not going anywhere. It's warm out, but supposed to rain most of the day.....we have had more rain so far this year than we sometimes would get in 6 months.

Keyboard is covered with hair....it's going.   Soon it will be time to dig out the bandannas.   Pic is from receptionist's last day at work a week ago Friday.....we had a little luncheon.  Am still working myself, but easing out.

    Have a good day, Ladies.

I FINALLY began to feel better from my flu yesterday. Just in time to get knocked down by surgery on Monday....sigh. It's been a crappy new year so far for me with my horrid cough, chest pain with the heart scare and then the flu!! I have spent almost all of January in bed and Feb ain't coming up too different so far...sigh. Whenever it's the new year I always think "this year will be GREAT!!! and the POW! Nice try, sucker!!

Marybe..the bags I'm selling are a Roxanne, an Alexa and a Bayswater....for when you check !! As my card reader has decided NOT to work my foray into selling on eBay has come to a temporary standstill. I have ordered another one from Amazon, supposed to be delivered on Monday, but NO WAY will the postman get down to me. There is 5" of snow on the ground, and more forecast overnight.

I am just wondering if I am jinxed at the moment. My card reader packed in yesterday...my printer has paper jammed in it, and I just cannot be bothered to try and free it. I have 1 washing machine bunged up with dog hair....this is a real pig to sort out. It means tipping the washer upside down and pulling the dog hair out bit by bit. No way can I do this now...and G/son  hadn't time today. Luckily it's the dogs' machine, so I can live without it until I get help. Also my spare tumble dryer, again the one I use for dogs washing, hasn't worked since before Christmas ! And I have 2 Dysons bunged up. I need a man !! And thinking about these broken appliances, most of them seem to be caused with dog hair !!! Oh, and this morning, about 3 am I was re-installing all the TV programes on my bedside TV. It suddenly went blank...I had no idea what I was doing, but got my instruction book out, followed the Mickey Mouse pictures, and it WORKED !!! I was most suprised.....I usually leave TV sets well alone. No wonder at all I cannot get up on a morning.

All is very silent here tonight, the snow is blanking all the noises out. It looks lovely, but has been very hard work here for my helper, as all the water pipes are frozen, so all water has to be bucketed to the animals and hens....a long job. I was planning a trip to town on Monday, but I am sure the roads won't be passable....so it's back to the sewing machine. I am altering 3 pairs of linen trousers, ready for Spring. The side seams, instead of running from the waist, straight down the outside leg to the hem, are twisted, and french seamed. I am having one h*ll of a job keeping the twist, and making the seam lay flat....infact I am swearing to myself all the time I am working! It is bordering on tailoring, and I am not too clever at that.  I have one pair started, and looks as if it could be time to wear them before I get the other 2 pairs done....the messing about there is. Still, get myself shut away upstairs, mug of coffee, heater and radio on, and I'm in heaven !!

I have just realised I haven't had my tea yet....infact I have only had 2 boiled eggs at 11am (and it's midnight now) all the day....no wonder my belly is rumbling ! Better go and raid the fridge, and make a sandwich or something.

Sorry about all your appliance and electronic troubles, Isabella, but look at you reprogramming your TV!  I'm still trying to get the hang of my new cell phone.

Anybody having or going to Superbowl parties?  Our group of friends always get together at the same house, the one with the largest TV, and everybody brings something to eat.  I'm taking chicken salad in phyllo shells, stuffed mushrooms and jalapenos, and party ham sandwiches, and probably everyone else will bring Mexican or wings.  Mexican food isn't my favorite, but it sure is a lot of people's.

Ginger, glad you're feeling better and you too, Barbe.  Barbe, things have to get better for you after Monday is behind you.

That's a good idea about the card listing your meds, Lisa.  I'm going to do that, especially since DH would have no idea if asked.

Good to see you here, Marybe, but I'm sorry you're having the problems.  Good that you didn't try to make the trip  to your Dad's.  It's rainy here today too and it doesn't look like we'll even have a winter.  Usually by this time we've had at least one snow, but this year temps are in the 50's and 60's, very unusual.

Hope we all have good days tomorrow!

    Kathy

Isabella, your comment about scarves reminds me of an essay a friend from work and I wrote 25 years or so about the sex life of paperclips.

Barbe, you are in my prayers for a great outcome!

Isabella, you crack me up, as usual. You all know about me and sewing. It is like the Three Stooges doing a ballet dance.

Chabba...now I will have to write an essay about the sex life of my scarves !!!!!!

Would be either very interesting, or just plain stupid !! The latter, I think. Makes you wonder what on earth is going on in your drawers and cupboards when you aren't around. I know something goes on in mine, because I can never find things when I KNOW exactly where I've left something, and the next time I want it it's walked  !!!

I also know that I am losing it now....BIG TIME !!!!

My stuff moves around as well, Isabella. Chabba, the visual I got thinking about the sex life of paperclips was unusual to say the least.

Barbe, sending good thoughts for you on Monday.

I typed up my meds made it the size of my medical card, then used double stick tape to put it on the back. MyDH wouldn't have a clue either.

Barbara, visualize this then. 25 years ago we were still using dry cleaners a lot and we also did a bit on the sex life of wire coat hangers.  That was a bit kinkier because coat hangers have lots of hang ups.  Wink
