BREN - wow, CONGRATULATIONS...that is amazingly wonderful - you are my new hero! WOW! Just WOW!!!
Athena - off the active list? well,

-
Hi Barbara, I've missed you too! But I have been lurking over your shoulder. Happy belated Birthday! I hope you did something wonderful to celebrate your day.
I haven't had enough time to keep up to speed on everything and I find when I'm away from this thread for long I miss SO much that it's tough to jump back into the conversation. I have been scanning the thread every few days and thinking about everybody here. All the PP threads drew me in yesterday. I just couldn't sit on my hands. So I figured I'd pop in here even though it would be hard to get up to speed.
Ok, I see that Bren has lost a lot of weight - Yay! Way to go!
Rosemary has bronchitis again? I hope it clears up quickly.
I'm glad to see Athena roaming these plains again.
I see Scootaloo is the artist formerly known as Enjoyful.
Sorry for what I've missed. I hope everyone is doing well.
-
And it's good to see YOU again, RR! Been wondering where you were, and how you've been
-
Hi, Linda. I've been getting used to DH being kinda of retired. He retired from his regular job but is still working part time in another capacity. He comes and goes all the time and it's proving to eat into my computer time. I have to get better organized.
-
Komen reverses decision - says it was "not political" ( hey, I hear there's a bridge in Brooklyn for sale) from now on, everytime I see a pink ribbon, I'm gonna imagine it covered in poop.
Happy Libby - skid marks - not enough for me either!!!! BTW, just saw the HuffPost pic of Brinker - she really does now look like a snapping turtle caught in a wind tunnel - YUCK. Why do women do that to their faces????
-
Hi all. Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I'M STILL HERE!!!! Don't quite have the energy to read back and see what everyone is up to. Missed you all and I hope everyone is doing well.
-
Hi Gracie -- so good to see you again. How are things going with you (meaning, is the beast under control)?
-
Hi Gracie ... I'm glad to see you ... you've been missed. I hope you're feeling okay.
River Rat ... I know what you mean about the computer time ... when Tim is home for the weekend we have a race to see who gets to use it first. I get spoiled during the week while he's gone.
Sunflowers .. I read the Komen statement and I don't see it as a reversal of their original decision at all. It's just a bunch of horseshit and I don't believe a word of it.
It's a beautiful day here .. temps about 60 degrees, no wind and the sun is shining. My daffodils are so confused, as they're starting to bud already.
Had a wonderful lunch with my sis in Roanoke today and then we went to Belks to get some Clinique. They are having their bonus gift special right now. I love those free gifts!!
hugs to all,
Bren

I agree - more CYA - there is a WONDERFUL Advocacy video coming out in CANADA today - see the Advocacy thread - on active list - re: Komenhttp://community.breastcancer.org/forum/110/topic/782098?page=2#idx_41
Linda posted this great link there....
-
Just wanted to say that I've 'met' a lot of people on the Komen threads who I would love to see join us here. Like minds and all that.
Lovely here too ... sunshine and 60ish. Puts me in a good mood even when I'm grumpy and grumbling about other stuff
-
Morning girls. Just been out fixing the pool - adding salt, acid etc. All that rain finally diluted the overdose of salt we had a year or so ago due to the pool shop's testing equipment being wrong. Still have to add one more powder stuff this afternoon and it should be happy.
Work is really annoying. Some people have really strange ideas about how to run a project. My mate Pete and I are constantly giving each other quizical looks when we hear the crap others are dishing out. Luckily we had morning tea for a guy who was leaving, so we rushed off to that to escape. A headhunter got in touch with me yesterday via LinkedIn, so I replied. I'll see what she has to offer. The job is in Sydney but she said it could be negotiated to stay here in Brisbane - definitely worth investigating.
Steve got to finally use his Golf GPS on Thursday - he totally loved it. All of the blokes he was playing with ended up using it - he should charge them a fee. He was a good boy yesterday and cleaned up all of the garden rubbish and took it to the dump except for one palm frond he forgot about. The trailer has had it, so we have to look at getting a new one - it's never ending - at least it made that trip.
Nothing exciting planned for this weekend except the markets tomorrow morning - I miss my fish, hopefully he'll have a better supply this time.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
Sue

Just sharing some good news I got via email from PP ...
"Over the last three days, Planned Parenthood Federation of America's Breast Health Fund has received more than $3 million from thousands of people across the country. Every dollar we received for this fund will go directly to breast exams and diagnostic services, as well as breast health outreach and education so that more women can receive this critical care."
They also say this influx of money will allow them to expand the services to more communities.
Happy dance!
In other news ... hubby built a small sandbox for the doggies today. Jake (AKA Digger) really gets into digging holes and Daisy (AKA Barkley) helps. He's hoping they will dig there instead of digging up the grass. I have a feeling that the kitties are going to like it best ... and we all know why. But if so then the doggies will be doubly interested in it ... and we know why that is too
Time will tell. -
((RR)) and ((Gracie)). Nice to see you both back. Gracie, what a relief to see you posting.
TGIF - Truer words were never said. Work is tense.
But the BCO B&G is open, and we have a fireworks display, so I am told by our pastor and esteemed bartender. Come on in, everyone.
-
Everything is on the house tonight. We have spoken and have been heard. Bless you all!!
-
Steve was sent this link today - I have never heard such a voice - OMG - absolutely incredible for such a young girl. Have any of you heard of her?
-
Susie
How beautiful. I had heard her once and I just can't believe her voice.
ETA: Her voice gave me chills, it was so wonderful.
-
Rosemary, hope you are on the mend.
Susie, lovely!
It is a gorgeous February day here. High will be 80, lows on the low 60's, perfect.
Bren, the only drawback to losing weight is needing to buy new clothes. I lost about 20 lbs with my BC diagnosis and did not gain it back until 18 months later and with a vengeance! I cannot lose the 5 pounds I need to despite starving myself.

-
susie -- Our local Buffalo/Toronto PBS station has had her programmes on several times. Her voice is truly amazing and so, so beautiful.
This is turning out to be the winter that never was, thanks to a crazy, out of whack jet stream. We're enjoying spring-like weather, while half of Europe and even Japan are being snowed under with wickedly low temps. Our local groundhog, Wiarton Willy, did NOT see his shadow, so I'm looking for an early (real, not fake) spring!
-
I cried and got goosebumps all over when I heard that - totally incredible!!!
Off to the markets this morning and then Steve and I are meeting a friend of his (and his new lady) for breakfast - can you believe he wants us to ride there!! I'm going "I can't go to breakfast in shorts". Also, there are quite a few hills and seeing I haven't been riding it would probably cripple me. So he's going to ride and I'll drive his 4WD, so he can put the bike in if he doesn't feel like riding home again. Reminds me of Mother's Day last year when he made me ride to lunch. Men!!!
-
'Morning all! How quiet it is here (looking around). I think I missed the annual migration of wildebeest, or something.
(Off to find an acacia tree for some sleep in the shade. Pride(thread) mates must already be there.)
-
Hi, Athena - almost good afternoon here...think the Pride may be facebooking??? I don't venture there, or any "social media" so couldn't be sure...wondereing about BLUE - and hoping she's feeling better
Think the wildebeest are still recovering from the helicpoter hunting of the pinkribbonfolks...whew, speaking of the Power of media - well done, women!
All of MA hs got it's 12 fingers crossed for the rest of the day

-
Ha,ha,ha! Glad to see you here under the tree, Sunflowers. Also thinking about Blue.
-
Me too, ((Blue))
-
Good Morning Friends!
I'm worried about Blue. The last I heard she was going to try to get ahold of the DBS programmers to see about making some adjustments. I hope she's recovered from the terrible flu she had.
Is anyone watching the football game today? Tim's already getting his snacks prepared. hahaha! I confess I'll be cheering for Baby Manning.
I'm so excited .. I'm leaving in two weeks for San Diego to see my grandson's. I've ordered a bunch of sticker books for them online. I miss them so much ... haven't been back home since last April.
Barbara ... So far I've only bought one new pair of jeans. I had a couple of pairs that were too small for me that now fit again. I have to wear a belt now when I wear Tim's old jeans in the yard.
Sunflowers ... I'm proud of the outpouring of support for PP, but mostly just that our fellow women rose up and took on the giant Komen!
Athena .. Hope you're having a great day.
hugs all,
Bren
-
Bren, since you are nice and thin, now's the time to see all those old friends, get that passport picture, DL picture renewed, etc...

Athena the Vain (Who Wishes She Hadn't Needed to Renew Government Documents the Other Day!)
-
Good morning, all!
Welcome back, den mother! You're looking fine and sleek after your rest.
Woooohooooo Bren! Congrats on the significant weight loss!
(((Blue))) Please check in. We're concerned for you!
I'm having a bad stretch and will be whining at my onc checkup on Tuesday. On the bright side, I'm hoping to adopt a Malinois today, if my sister's dog is amenable. I don't have high hopes, though, since sis's dog is firmly anti-dog.
For you hockey fans out there, here's a secret message: Crappy Tim Thomas! TPMF!!
-
Scoot -- I think the Malinois might be a little to big to share a cage with Tumble

As for the Thomas brat -- blech!
-
I know! I don't even know why he's playing in DC. Isn't that against his principles?
-
Speaking of famous players, today is Babe Ruth's birthday. He's my third cousin twice removed, or something like that. For real!
-
Scoot -- You need to go to Wikipedia and update it with that important info!
