mamachick,  You will not regret your decision.  I know Dr. Craigie and Klien will do a great job and you will be so happy to have those implants out.  They are nothing but trouble.  Please keep in touch with us leading up to and after your surgery.  We are all here for you if you have any questions or concerns.  Linda

Thanks for all of the well wishes! I had a truly great time in Charleston - had an awesome girls weekend with my best friend from college & my Charleston girlfriend; my son & I visited College of Charleston and I got to spend some real quality time with Dr. M (I even got to play with her 2 adorable doggies!).

Dr. M did such a spectacular job - she really went way way above and beyond to address every one of my concerns.   Both breasts were revised - Dr. M slightly reduced my reconstructed breast (the outer edge that was a little too full) and added some fat to my augmented breast - to improve symmetry.  She also opened the incision on my augmented breast - as it was pointing outward a tad much (she pulled the breast in a tad).   I asked about the "Dart" that she wrote on my chest - that was just a dart stitch at the top of the nipple.  The nipple was totally redone - much skinnier and looks really cute!  She did all the lipo from the back - my bunny tail is gone and she really hit the back of my thighs, outer & inner thighs - to improve the donor site.  In all she took about 1700cc (almost 2 liters!) - wow!   I am sore but it is not terrible and well worth what I think is the very last of my chunky thighs!

I am so grateful that I found this website & Dr. M - it has truly been a life changing/life affirming experience.  Take care!  Liz

It is so great to see the Charleston thread active again!  I have a Stage 2 with Dr. M in Charleston on 1/31 and so far, so good!  This was my 3rd and hopefully last Stage 2 and boy, did she go to town on me!!!!   I had nipple revision and TONS of lipo (boy, did that hurt!).  I am about 3 weeks out and still sore - hopefully will be able to get back to my routine in the next 3 weeks or so.  I am a little worried about my new nipple - I hope it is just a scab and all is good underneath - but we will see.  Before this surgery, I thought I could do an "unlimited" number of Stage 2 surgeries - now I totally understand why women say the are "DONE" - I am so "DONE" at this point!  I will dutifully wear my compression for the next 6 months and then I am ready to be done with this reconstruction business (oh, of course, I will need my tat).

For those who know me, I am sorry to report that my husband and I are separating after 25 years together (& 3 amazing kids).  Both my oncologist and breast surgeon asked me if I thought it was cancer related...on the surface, I don't think so - but when you peel back the layers, and see how you have changed, how life has changed - it most likely had some impact.   I thought my husband was a rock and my biggest supporter but that was not the case.  Thankfully, I should be OK financially, will be able to stay in the house and provide a loving, stable home for my kids (12, 16 & 18).  I am trying to make peace with the situation and am SO HAPPY that I decided to go through the reconstruction!  (My gut told me to do it - always listen to your gut!!!!!!).  Best wishes to all!  Liz

I can't imagine what you're going through, Liz. I am glad you did your recon, and thankful that you and the kids will be okay. It will be tough on the kids. People grow apart for many reasons. Cancer can certainly be a game-changer. I know you'll find peace, sounds like you're well on your way. We're here for you!!

LizR-  Best wishes to you!  Such a long time.  You are obviously a very strong woman.  Hugs and prayers to you.

Can I ask about your reconstruction?  I have my first stage two on March 15.  And Marga has said that I will need more than one.  What did they do in each stage two?  I am very curious.  I was hoping to do my stage two in SC but would have had to wait until May, no thanks!  Maybe the next one.  Thanks so much in advance.

Anybody else who can chime in with stage two stories...... please do so!  Thanks again.
