Lisa, just keep at it and you'll get the hang of it. Yes, my BDay is next Tueday (I put a fake date on FB). It is a milestone one that ends in 0 so only 5 more years until I can retire. I could afford to retire now IF I could get reasonable health insurance. Yell

I do NOT sew anything that matters, but I really wish I could.  I can do buttons and hems by hand and a seam on a valance, but that is about it.  A long time ago I did Halloween costumes for our entire group, but since it was not a sewing project that was going to be graded and mostly just doing seams, it was no big deal.   I really wish I could sew, but then that would be just one more thing to add to my list of things I wish I was getting done, but do not really have time for.  My mother could sew anything....made wonderful window treatments and could copy designer pillows and saved me a ton of money with home decor projects.  She said the reason she did not show me how was that I did not have the patience, but I recall many times when she herself would be in there cursing at the machine....she had two so one was always broken, but one would work.   It was keeping the tension right that always got her into trouble.  I have both of the machines, but a few years ago one of my friends bought me this really simple little Singer at Target that does eveything and is pretty simple to use....of course I lost the presser foot so have not used it since that happened.  I envy those of you who can master the art of sewing.

Was it on this thread that Barbe posted that georgous quilting or maybe it is called emboidery work she does?....that was very impressive and I thought Oh wow, people would pay to have you do things like this for them.   You see jackets with work like that on them in the designer shops.

Anyway, I have not been up to much lately.  It's fondue time again.....have done two parties so far and have one coming up this Sat.   Work must be very slow as they told me not to come in until 3 today....I told the receptionist I would just as soon not come in at all for just a few patients and to ask the other girl, but that didn't go over too well, but really it's not worth breaking up my day like that to drive to the office.  The bad thing is this is the office I was going to stay with, also the one where there is often problems with meeting payroll so maybe I need to rethink this deal.  Not that I don't waver back and forth on it all the time.

When I went to see my onco on Wed. I had on a uniform and he sort of pulled on my collar and asks Working?   I thought you were going on SS so we went though that whole deal again.  He can't understand why I would want to do regular SS when I can get more money on disablity.  Makes me wonder how much he likes his job....he must not understand that I actually like my job.  Tomorrow is the receptionist's last day at the other office so I am making my cut out cookies which I did not get around to making with my Xmas cookies this year.  The other hygienist is going to bring in something for a light lunch and the boss's wife is bring a cake.  Normally, he really does not react well to people quitting even when they give him plenty of notice...he will pout and actually not talk to them....very childish and non-professional on his part.  But this time seems to be going quite smoothly....but then again he does not know she is going to another job.   I really like her and she was one big part of the reason I stayed there for as long as I have....she and the other hygienist I consider to be my friends.

I just don't know what I am going to do about work.   As I told the onco now that my tumor markers are finally going down and I think I am going to live for awhile longer, I may just keep on working....he just shook his head.  Asked if this is not defeating my purpose of quitting so I would have more time to travel and do things I want to do and I told him since my bosses are willing to work with me I can still do that....will work, and just take time off as needed.   Did you see on my thread?.....we think the Adriamycin is working.   My tumor markers went from 7,668 to 6,176 ( I think, I sort of forget now, but know it was almost a 1,500 drop).  I was shocked and very happy and know my onco is happy also even if he is always telling me don't put too much emphasis on the CA 27.29.   So we are not doing the CAT scan of the liver on Monday which suits me just fine.....I am not worried as much as I was since I now am thinking this one is doing something.  Hair is still hanging in, but you can see it is really thinning out, BUT that is a small price to pay since I am really having no other SEs .   On Mon. I had a MUGA and there is no heart damage at all....he said next time we will do an echo since the tech, who is normally very good, had to stick me three times and ended up causing a big knot on my wrist which is now black and blue.   I HATE that....and it is not because it hurts, it just is really upsetting to get stuck over and over.  No offense, but you would have died, Isabella.   Love your posts as always...you are always doing such interesting things.

Elisimo aka AmyJo......so nice to see and hear from you.  I have your quilted cat hanging in George's spot so it doesnt seem quite as empty.

Maca, I think it is nice your retired onco is willing to give you personal professional advice. I fianlly went for a pap smear last week.....was shocked that I had not been there since O9.....that is always on the bottom of my list of fun things to do...think a colonoscopy is actually easier.  Anyway, he is retiring in March and will be strictly teaching, but he gave me a referal to someone he thinks would be good and also gave me his #....told me to call him anytime. I thought that was really nice. His wife had BC many years after I did and she went to my onco due to my good long term results.

Lost, one of my friends is really into bluegrass.  She is now taking guitar lessons and my husband gave her a cigar box uke he made when he was on that kick.  She goes to fests all over the place, a big one they have out in CA is one of them.

Alyson, how is the arthritis? Are you having the car taken care of.   I also had yet another car accident.....a week ago Tues some kid pulled into my lane as I was driving to work and smashed the passenger door in almost the exact same area it got hit a few months ago. I got all his info and he admitted it was his fault, but his mother (it was her car) has not returned any phone calls so now we have our insurance agent working on tracking them down. It will probably be a mess, but we have the original estimate and know this one was worse since now the front panel is also involved and although the door was open it makes a lot cracking noise when you open it and you have to really tug on it. I am waiting for another wreck since things come in threes. The amazing part is neither of these was my fault so I am hoping it won't do anything to my insurance.

To ALL of you, have a good day.   It is raining here AGAIN......I would not be surprised if we get some flooding we have been having so much of this.

Quick fly by...I have been struck down with flu !! Well, not exactly flu, but it sounds good, and I just had a rotten cold....hehehe. So I have been sitting by the fire reading for the last 3 days.

Went out yesterday , first time this week, and treated myself to a new pc. The one I am on now has been slowly dying since Christmas...just keeps freezing, or going blank....I am sick of having it patched up, so as I seem to spend a fair bit of my life on this dang machine I think I can justify the cost. ( well, it'll go down as a business expence !!! ) Went to pick it up today, after leaving instructions in the shop what I did and didn't want installing, and was there almost 3 hours. They promised me I could pick up at 2 pm, but hadn't even started on it when I got there. I was VERY mad, and sat there absolutely blowing myself up like a Puffa fish as the time passed. I was all ready to play Hell, when suddenly, it was ready. Then, the engineer just boxed it and pushed it over the counter towards me....woohoo.. wrong thing to do to me today, so I called the manager across, he just happenned to be passing, and let rip. There I was, stood with a walking stick, a big handbag, and a wriggling 3 year old.....and they just expected me to pop it under my arm . I had it carried out to my car in no time ! Then I was out into big bad traffic, as rush hour was just starting. It took me twice as long as normal to get free of the city traffic. I was really pleased to be back home.

I got an invite to another gypsy wedding a couple of days ago, my gypsy friend rang me to tell me he was bringing me a lorry load of logs, and said it would be about March 17th, and he would let me have my invite soon.

Must fly, cats are fighting madly outside my window. It won't be much, just the mating season starting !!! But just better go try and stop them ripping one another to pieces.

    Alyson....good news.

    Isabella.

Marybe - so glad to hear that your numbers are finally going down!  That is the direction we want to keep them going.  I will find out later this week on my CTC # and then we will see if I have to do all the scans again and maybe switch from Femara to something else since my numbers have started up again.  Not very much at this point, but they are still going the wrong direction.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

    Hugs and love, Amy Jo

3Jays, I had never heard that the chemo would "push out" skin cancers. I've had more than a dozen removed, 4 of which left significant scarring after deep Mohs surgeries. I lost half of one eyebrow due to flap surgery there. I've been so focused on the BC that I haven't been to the dermatologist in months. Now I'd better go. At least now that I'm bald, she can see if anything is on my scalp. Thanks for the tip,

    Barbe 1958 & everyone:

Get yourselves to a derm doc.  I'm scheduled for a full body scan every 6 months - and have been for years.  She always freezes at least 20 pre-cancers and does a biopsy about every 18-24 months.  So far I've had 6 or 7 basal cell cancers removed. WaveWhisperer - you're right - Mohs surgery is interesting & I too have deep  scars on both sides of my nose.  The other places are older & less intrusive.  I lived in CA in the 50's and we lay out in the sun with baby oil to get a darker tan.  Then I moved to New Mexico where the sun shines 360 days a year.  And now I've been in Houston for almost 40 years.  Lot of sun damage - but who knew back in the day.  It's true as 3Jays says, I've had pre-cancers frozen in my hair - as well as everywhere else.  I guess I'm lucky.  I have 2 friends with prosethsic ears and one with a fake nose.

Barbara: i might not make it on tommorrow, so Happy Birthday, my sweet... i'm so glad your'e having a good visit with your stepdaughter /stepmother... happy happy!!!!!3jays

In Canada, the sun isn't as intense and I have, or rather had, fairly dark skin growing up, so I "think" I'm okay. To get a derm appointment up here takes about 6 months and you have to have something to show them - it can't be just a "search". I don't want to borrow trouble anyway....sigh. Have enough crap going on now with my thyroid about to be finally all gone!!! I'll finally be put on thyroid meds so I KNOW that I will be balanced. It's been a long haul. 10-11 years since my right half was taken out, and now my left, along with the tumour, like last time. I can't lose a pound to save my life. And now I HAVE to lose weight, strangely enough, to save my life!!! Too many weight related issues are cropping up; the latest is fatty liver and I don't even drink alcohol!!!! Insult to injury!!
