Congrats Michello!!!  I love retail therapy!!!!

I am now 2 weeks post last rad, and have to tell you that I am amazed at how quickly my skin has recovered.  I never did get raw, just sort of sunburned, and now that is fading.  My nipple area  is still a different color, but honestly my whole breast just looks tanned.  I am SO grateful for my skin type, whatever it is!

Only lingering SE from rads is the tiredness.  Last night went to sleep at 9:30....really tired by the time I get home from work.  But at least I can work full time.  Still dealing with neuropathy in my toes from chemo.  It's cold in Cleveland, Ohio and my middle three toes on each foot get like ice cubes.

Congrats YaYa, I'm sure that feels sooo good to be done.  Thursday should be my last day, I am doubling up for the last five, doing the regular session and then the boost 6 hours later.

All done here, too. I finished on Monday with the boosts, and my skin is almost completely back to normal, aside from some tenderness. I am so glad it's over! And feeling more energy already.

One thing I wonder is whether anyone else is struggling with having one boob intact and the other side all painful so you can't wear a bra. The remaining boob is flopping all around. Even though I'm just a B cup, I hate going without a bra and without support. I wish they made one-sided bras.

Congrats YaYa and Windlass. My skin is feeling a bit tender, especially the AND scar under my arm. I'm using lots of cream.

Windlass, I still can not wear a bra and I am two weeks out! My skin is finally looking better, still red at the boost site. I am having sharp pains in breast also. Hoping to get fitted for new bras tomorrow and see if that helps--both breasts got smaller and my bras don't fit! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Yaya and Windlass, CONGRATS!!!

I am feeling frustrated today.  The tech confirmed that my Rx is actuallt for 28 whole breast and 8 boosts; when I started in December I was under the impression that I would have 25 whole and 5 boosts.  In the span of a week I've been told I'll have 6 more treatments than I originally thought... it's like.... come ON already.  Are we there yet??

It's a bad joke so please don't read on if you're easily offended or otherwise not in a good place.  On my way out, I mentioned that I would be getting more tx's than originally thought to the receptionist (she had commented "you must be almost done, right?")... her reply was "wow, so you're getting the deluxe package.  You're one of our V.I.P.s!"  To which I responded (without thinking) "Yep, better V.I.P. than R.I.P...."

Anyway. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Bgail84, I'm also having pain in my left breast and was beginning to worry! Glad I'm not the only one.

Kat, that really stinks! I wouldn't be happy about that either especially when you get to the end and just want it all to be over!!!

I never mind a bit of quick-witted dark humor! Glad you shared....good luck with the extra sessions. I had a couple more than I had expected also, but it went by quickly. Your receptionist's comment about the "deluxe package" also reminds me of the scene about the "royal treatment" from the film American Beauty. So who knows.....? ;)

sandy, do you have a camisole with maybe a little support?  one that you would mind messing up? the ones i used saved my bacon.  i slathered on the aquaphor but because it's so greasy, i used a silicone pad called mepilex.  they adhere to your skin without sticking to any open wounds.  they also help keep aquaphor or any other 'grease' you use off your clothing.  they're a little expensive, but i found some online that were half of what i paid in the pharmacy.  you don't have to have a prescription.  good luck with the rest of rads.  how many more do you have?

Thanks Sandy115. They did tell me that the rads would peak in a week and then begin to get better, skin is peeling under my arm, this is where I find it most tight and uncomfortable. The actual chest wall feels like somebody stomped on it very tight and achey. Hoping that this all normal. Congrats on finishing!!!!

26 down, 10 still to go including my boosts.  Yesterday and today it feels like I've run into a wall of fatigue.  It feels like the last couple of rounds of chemo, just kinda wiped out.  I'm still trucking along at work but took a 2-hour nap today between rads and dinner plans... it was hard to get up after that, I could have slept all night!  There's no day on my work calendar where I can really take a "rest day."  I've been working lots of extra hours so my #1 priority will be to get it to just 40-45 hours a week.  If I snag a half-day here or there I'm going to go for it. Wink

My skin is holding up beautifully.  Red and irritated but no worse than a moderate subburn.  I've been using the miaderm cream on the nipple which helps.  One sad thing though, I am already seeing some shrinkage on the rads side.  I enjoyed 20-ish years (from puberty to now) with great symmetry, but my BC side looks pretty darn deflated now.  Small price to pay but still... the gift that keeps on giving, huh?

Hope everyone is doing a-ok these days!!

Kat - so glad your skin is holding up OK.  Maybe you could have some fat grafting that would give you the symmetry, some time in the future.

Congrats to everyone getting finished this week!

Like Michelle, I would like to send big congrats to all finishing this week.  My last tx was Jan. 11th, my skin did real well, and at this point the only discoloration left is the rectangle right under my breast.  I am back to wearing my 'normal' bras, but am still glad to get all natural when I am home for the night!

Congratulations YaYa, I have not checked out this forum yet as I try not to get ahead of myself but I have one more chemo next week.  Actually my oncologist told me if I wanted to skip Round 6, she would not have an issue with that but I figured I have come this far and am handling it well so why not go to 6.  I am told that radiation starts 3 to 4 weeks after.  I am hoping that goes as well as the chemo has gone but still a little nervous over it.

It must feel wonderful to have all this behind you.  The rest of us hope to catch up to you soon.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, Sandy! Do you have a lymphedema physical therapist? I saw one after rads and it helped so much! Ask your radiation oncologist for a referral.

Hi Sandy - I am having those pains too - like my nipple got stuck in a socket and it goes "zing".  It is pretty harsh at time......

So, if you find out what it is - hollar.

I'm STILL doing rads (boosts, now) and will be addressing my shooting pains with my doc tomorrow.  I get zings so bad they wake me up at times.  No sign of lymphedema though.  It's a little discouraging to hear they last well after tx is done.

My skin is still holding up pretty well though.... and the fatigue is wearing on me, but it's tolerable. I'm anxious for that part to be past me too.

Yes I am also having shooting pains in my breast area, [well where there used to be one] I am 3 weeks out. The tightness in my chest and under my arm is driving me insane!!! I don't know what it feels like to be comfortable anymore! Why do you think that you have lymphedema Sandy???? Is it swollen? Mine feels heavy and is sore but is not swolllen.

Almost there kks!!! Good for you

    Hugs
