AMERICAN IDOL....Season 11

I totally agree on Phillip Phillips- I thought he was amazing. loved his style. I like the fact that they show more clips of the good people and less of the ones who don't make it. They did it last year too and it made you become more familiar with the singers and get into it more. I am excited for the auditions to be over with and watch them interact with each other in Hollywood. Love when they do the group stuff- watch them improve or go home.
-
Also, have to laugh. I said to my DH, who the hell names their kid Phillip Phillips? Then the father comes on to talk about his son, his name.....Phillips Phillips Sr. DH says, I guess the senior one does. What could his nick name be? PP?
-
BwaHaHaHa Laurie, on the nickname!!! That one made me just crack up!
-
I have to admit that the rocking sailboat in the background was making me queasy at first...but the rest of the show was pretty good!
I didn't think Phillip was all that awesome on the first song, but he sure can play the guitar, and we're eager to see what he can do!
I'm so glad they cut back on showing all those outrageous can't-sing-a-note characters who used to take up way too much time. Watching them, and listening to rude and insulting comments from the old set of judges got old.
-
My DH grudgingly watches Idol with me and says the funniest stuff, makes it more fun
-
-
Glad I found you all Sheila... I went to the old thread! This is going to be a long, tough season. Many that are very good and it will be hard to pick. So glad I'm not one of the judges. I'm excited though because we've only seen 2 cities and still have more to go!!!
-
Renee..I left instruction on the old thread LOL

Join RS and our judges, along with thousands of Idol hopefuls at the U.S.S. Midway air craft carrier in San Diego! Will the talent be as grand as the setting? Watch to find out.
-
sheila, thanks for the info, I just caught that it was to be on Sunday, not the time. I sure do appreciate that they are not spending that much time on the kooks. A lot of talent out there already.
-
I think they have enough talents so far.
you are right. But you never know maybe they are saving it for future cities
-
people who should've won:
season 2----Clay Aiken
season 3----Jennifer Hudson
season 5 ---Catherine McFee
season 8-----Adam Lambert
season 9-----Crystal Bowersox
did I miss anyone? (at least, my favorite did win on X-factor this year~ Melanie Amaro)!
Anne
-
Ann.... season 2-5-9 agreed.
Season 3 I think the only reason J Hudson didn't win even eliminated early was her personality.
She didn't give a chance to audience to connect to her. She came across too tough
Season 8 sorry i never liked Adam or whatever the winners name was.
-
I liked Melanie but Josh was my favor from the first audition..
-
Soooo...did anyone notice that the girl who "planked" while her sister was singing last night ALSO got a golden ticket?
Does that mean she will be "planking" every time Sis sings in Hollywood?
-
Thanks for the update Blessings...i didn't notice that.
-
Don't forget American Idol is on tonight at 10:00 pm
-
Just started
-
Hey, my husband is a volunteer on the USS Midway...and he and I met across the street from it 46 years ago now
-
Oh crap!! Did NOT know it was on tonight and missed it!! Going to have to google and get back to you all....
-
Seaside....Show is running late you can still catch the last 15 minutes.
-
For those who missed Sunday's show.... Or missed the end because it ran late... It's being re-aired tonight.... Starting now on the East Coast.... Here's the blurb from Fox....."For the Eastern and Central time zones, American Idol will air before the President's State of the Union Address. This means at 8 p.m. Eastern time, 7 p.m. Central time. In the Pacific timezone, Idol will also air after the speech, plus a half hour of local programming. Plan on an 8 p.m. start on the Pacific coast".
-
Wow.... San Diego had some really good contestants...
Best of the night for me was Ashley Robles... I must admit I flat out cringed when she said she was singing Whitney Houston... There are just some artists whose voices are so big that, if you are going to sing their song, you must absolutely nail it or it is just painful to watch... But I thought Ashley nailed it!
Close behind on my ballet... Jayrah Gibson and Wolf.... Thought Jane Carrey got a courtesy pass... I didn't find her to be that good, myself.... -
ARE WE READY!
-
I'm here!!! Best of luck to all of the contestants!
-
Hi Seaside...
-
Well crap... My son and his girlfriend picked tonight to hang out here tonight so I basically missed everything but the last 2 performances....
Saw the 'show tunes' girl.... Thought she did better on the second song than her first but, neither did much for me....
The last guy of the night... 'Magic'... Well.... Really? I'm surprised he made it past security!
Will check it out tomorrow AM on the computer....
Hi back at you, Sheila. Need to get back into the swing where my family knows that Idol nights are not drop in nights...lol!
Where is everyone?! -
you are funny. my friends and family know not to call me during the show especially when the voting starts.
The show still on....... it was supposed to be 1 hour
Shelby (the bipolar girl was the best)
i try to link it for you when the show is over.
-
UPDATE FROM TONIGHT
Minnesotan Shelby Tweten, who says she's always suffered from depression and was recently diagnosed as bipolar, says "'American Idol' has given her a reason to stay on my meds."
Pretty emotional, says singing is so important to her, keeps her going. Sings "Temporary Home," and is just fantastic -- compelling voice, lots of emotion, nothing artificial. Maybe my favorite of the year so far.
"Beautiful, so pretty," says Jennifer Lopez, with Randy Jackson adding "you're fearless as a singer." Yeah, can't wait to hear more from her.
-
I agree, Shelby was the best, sweet attitude, great voice. The last guy was a disaster wailing. where do these people come from? And why do they think they can sing? We have a no call rule too when the actual show begins. Hi Seaside. Lord, Aspen is beautiful. Karen
