So...whats for dinner?

i loved restaurant work.. did it for years.. first cheffing and then waitressing/managing/ and bartending.. I had one kicking job  where I bartended, was paid as a manager and made tips.. awesome!

anyway, it's hamburgers with Velveeta cheese tonite.. actually pretty darn wonderful.

I waited on Paul Newman and his lovely wife Joanne .. they sat at my bar rather than sit at a table.. there was kind of a private corner where they could look out at the crowd and nobody dared to bother them.. we are cool in KC ..   we talked on and off for like 2 hours.  they were sooooo nice.  (no drinks btw.. just orange juice (it was brunch time).

I also waited on some other famous actress who seems really nice on screen and she was an absolutely B.

So far, (knock on wood), no spasms today.  My hips are bothering me but I know that is the Arimidex.  I will be done with Arimidex July 26th.  Can't wait, I hope it is not doing some kind of damage to my joints and muscles.  

I was waiting tables in NYC, in an area that was fashionable for celebrities back then. It was a long time ago, but fun. I even got to tell off Sting a few times.

Tonight we didn't really have dinner, because we had a late lunch. Instead I made some oatmeal scones and we munched those with tea. They were good. 

I would of loved to seen paul newman he was one of great Actors of all time along with John wayne, me, my brother and sil sat at our liberty lounge upstairs with Johnny depp and drank 2 expensive bottles of wine with him he had me drooling the whole time, i giggled like a school girl and i know i was so obvious.

Just had a fyed ham, egg and cheese sandwich YUMM!!

Deborye, glad you're feeling better. I didn't realize you are coming up on 5 years since dx. You go girl!



Michelle, glad the aquaphor is helping. I hated it, couldn't stand the greasiness, but it did work for me. Will keep my fingers crossed that the weather holds out for you. We had beautiful warm weather this weekend, but it got much colder today. I imagine it was about the same for you.

Made the Belgian beer chicken tonight. Could only fit half as much chicken in the pot we used. Everyone liked it. My DD even asked me if I could make her a sandwich from the leftovers for school lunch for tomorrow. Only problem is there are no leftovers. LOL, so it is a peanut butter sandwich for her tomorrow again.

My daughter worked at the Bellevue Stratford Hotel, and the Fairmount Hotel in Philly..........the people she met and served were unbelievable........Lou Rawls, Joe Montana, Joe Frazier, Pete Rose, Tom Jones, Kenny Rodgers........................amazing.

My son owned his own Trade Show Co. in NY City, and my younger son and son-in law worked for him......they did the Hasbro Toy Show at the Javitz center in NY.........and traveled all over the country doing the shows.......they med Cindy Crawford, and have pictures with her........Rober DiNiro....Reese Witherspoon.....Arnold Swartzenagger, Clint Eastwood and many more.........they gave up the business because of the traveling once they had children, but it was a crazy ride when they did it........their stories keep you laughing...............my son-in-law was actually asked by Cindy Crawford to be her "bodyguard" when she was in NY, because he was 6ft. 3in, and 230lbs................of course he never forgot that..................my daughter laughs..........Cindy took a picture with my son-in=law, and before kids it hung in his "man den"...........................once they had my grandson, it went into the garage..................when he said to his Dad.............."Daddy who is that lady in the garage on the wall".................he would say "oh that was Daddy's girlfriend before your beautiful Mommy"..................so the first time she came on TV on her commercial my grandson said "hey Dad, your old girlfriend is on TV"................

Carol- If you ever get up this way let me know, would love to have lunch or somthing.

Ducky-What a neat story about your sil, funny what your Grandson said LOL!

Kay  thanks for asking about my mom...she ended up back in the ICU on New Years eve, her heart still not regulating.  they started a new drug but as of today that is not working either.  today they will sedate her and shock her, hope it works.

I am with you Michelle on the no snow thing...thank god since we are making several trips back and forth to hospitals to see my mom, and my son has to get back to Ohio some time this week.

My son has been dictating the meals since being home, and I will make him anything he wants, because then its back to school and a meager budget for him.  So last night was chicken wings, but I made a tossed salad to balance them out!

anyhooooo.. tonite we're doing the black bean soup thing.. ham bone, sausage, lots of veggies hidden in those beans and maybe tortillas on the side.

About unmarried daughters in law – in Swedish the same word goes for married and unmarried partner of one's child, and there is no "law" component to suggest a juridical aspect. But my son's significant other is definitely his girlfriend, so that's the word

Making the Belgian Chicken tonight and it smells darn good! Although, I wound up draining the pan after browning the chicken... Did any of you that made it have to do that or did I just have particularly flabby chicken?

They were a little sad because it took a great hidden gem and made it very crowded! Tough to get a table there now but, the food is stiil great!

Carrie, very sorry to hear your mom still isn't feeling well. I also hope the shock will do the trick. I have some relatives who had great success with it. And that is a great picture of your kids. You should be proud.



Seaside, I did notice that the chicken shrunk when we made the beer chicken. We used breasts. I don't think the liquid seemed fatty though. I thought it gave the chicken a great flavor, but I didn't actually eat the sauce, just the chicken and carrots.



Tonight I made a grilled cheese for my DD and a veggie burger for me. She told me I am going to turn into a veggie burger. LOL

Hi everyone, home from #23 and I am quite fried, but just in the one area.  It was bad enough that the techs asked the nurse about it, but she said to "carry on."  I see the RO tomorrow, he was in a meeting today.  I guess I can handle it but I'll sure be glad when it's over.  In the meantime, I'll probably pop a couple of painkillers tonight before bed.

Rino's Place was fabulous!  I had clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops with homemade linguine in a red sauce and DH had Rino's special which had chicken, veal and shrimp over homemade linguine in a brandy cream sauce.  We have enough food for two more meals at least because DH ordered the spaghetti bolognese to go.  He read a review that said it was so good the reviewer couldn't order it anywhere else for fear of being disappointed.  There are just 12 tables in the place and we were lucky to get seated (after I played the cancer card when the hostess suggested we wait at a bar three blocks away).  We ended up at the next empty table!  The toasted almond cream cake was to die for, very light and delicious.  We did share, although I'm pretty sure I could have finished it off by myself.  And the nice thing about eating before heading home is that we miss the commuter traffic.  We made it home without a glitch.

Seaside - I know what you mean about those neighborhood gems that you'd like to keep to yourself!  I think this is definitely one of those places.

Hauntie - that's most interesting about your family's ties to the location.  I'm sure a bar/appetizer place will do very well because we heard this place can easily have a two hour wait.

It was 14 degrees on the way home...brrrrr!!! But no snow, unbelievable no snow!
