Lets draft a letter to Washington
This is for ducky
-
Sheila==did you read the posts????i know there are quite a few but everyone has lots of info on there.Im just spreading the word.basically in plain old English we want things done for BC.We need letters written.ya gotta read what Merilee wrote...and many others...this could be huge....Im not good with details cause my brain is kinda radiated out but its all there. And very easy to understand.I would love to hear your feedback.I watch the thread very carefully.Ask questions if there is something you dont quite grasp but i doubt it.Thank you for takin the time for this...its gonna be HUGE!!!!!
-
Now we gotta drag Ducky over there.........
-
Hi Ladies: Thanks for your support and prayers! Surgery went fine...I'm home from the overnight stay at the hospital, exhausted, because a hospital is not where you go to rest! They kept me up all night coming in and out and leaving the lights on. The poor lady next to me was bedridden, so guess who had to get up and drag the IV machine all around to shut them off!
Oh...and the hospital managed to lose the clothes that I wore there. I gave them to a nurse to keep and haven't seen either of them since! Had to have my boyfriend bring me more clothes to wear home.
Just waiting for the pathology report to tell me about the SN and clear margins and I'm good to go!
-
kaara====when do you get your results from the path report?
-
Thanks for asking granny....supposed to be any time after today. If I don't hear by tomorrow morning I am going to start calling the Dr.'s office until I get an answer...actually, that is what he told me to do because he doesn't want this to go over the weekend...nice of him! Even the thought of having to go back to the hospital for more surgery is enough to make me want to jump off a building! Hospital still didn't find my clothes...they're history. I can probably go on ebay soon and buy them back from the thief who took them:( Grrrrrr!
I told BS before surgery that I didn't care what the boob looked like (no more topless contests for me) and to take whatever he needed to get the clear margin, but it doesn't look like he took that much...boob is pretty much the same. Can't say he didn't warn me that it could happen though.
I can deal with the upcoming rads because they have a start and finish date...it's the waiting....and waiting that is killing me.
-
Kaara---count your blessing sista.....do you have any idea how many sistas wait for at least 10 days to get their path reports?????I for one....and it was wrong!!!!!!!! most sistas have to wait a while.by the time my 3rs surgery was done with #3 dr.i too got my results right away....imagine waiting 10 days and the dr tells you its protocol...yeah...just wondering if it was his mother if she had to wait that long!!!!!!!!
everything is still makin me angry!!!!!!!
-
Hello, anyone over 70???????????
I guess that is me. I have been reading all these wonderful letters from so many wonderful ladies.
I have just turned 76. Had a mastectomy 15 years ago and now in Feb. had another mastectomy. You only get two, right? LOL LOL
Looking forward to connecting with all of you.
Rosieo
-
Hi Rosieo...Welcome to ducky's thread. HUGS♥
I'm not 70 but i have permission to post LOL
Duckyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy where are you?
-
Hello Rosieo---and welcome to the 70 yr old nuts....we can say what we want now right?
this group is really great when you catch them.....
And yes you only get 2.THANK GOD.
please come and visit and share your stories. At our age we can all write more then 1 book....without bc......
hugggggs everyone and good nite.K
-
Shiela someone gave Ducky a case of vodka...early Christmas present!!!!!!!!!ha.
-
Welcome Rosieo! Sorry you had to have a second mx. Wonderful people on BCO...you will get lots of comfort and support. Don't know what I would have done without finding this place.
-
I'm here Granny....................and welcome Rosieo............................sorry your here, but happy your with the best bunch of "nuts" this side of heaven.....................
I am 76 also, have 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandaughters (identical twins, 9 months old)........................ok enough about me..........you have to tell us something about you.
What is with this I hear women are wating as long as 10 days for the 'path results"....................Good heavens I had my 1st one in 2 days, and 2 days after that, the entire report was in my hands...............that shocks me............. although eveyrthing was in the one place where I went.......I didn't have to have anything sent out.............It ws a Regional Cancer Center of Fox Chase in Philly.
Even my biopsy was back the same day it was done...................that is horrible to have to wait that long...........like BC isn't bad enough, then they make you wait for the result...........well what the hell do they care.................its not their body......................its a job to them................
Well welcome again Rosieo, and Kaara.......hope its all good news....................hugs.
Oh, and Granny........................I have been a good girl.................no drinking lately...............Damn a case of Vodka......................yowza yowzy...........................hahahahahahahahaha
-
I'm still waiting....although the waiting time has given me the opportunity to do additional research that determined that if there is cancer in the SN, additional surgery to take out other nodes are of no benefit...the survival rate is the same or only slightly different, so that worry is off the table. I could further reduce that by having rads to the node area under the arm in addition to the breast.
Now I only have to worry about the clear margins on the surgery...certainly those need to be clear or they will have to go back in for more tissue removal...UGH! Also hoping that the grade and staging stays the same. Why would they give you all this information after the biopsy if it could change?? I don't like surprises, and this process is all about surprises it seems.
Probably won't hear from my doctor until late today. He always does his calls when he gets back from surgery...very predictable guy.
duckyb: I could use some of that vodka about now!
-
yeah i waited 10 days alright.2x with the same jerk dr.he even lost my Xrays.I brought my own Xrays and he lost them...big schmuck from big hospital in NY...even my path report was amended!!!!! i dont want to think about that.it was almost 2 yrs ago.I did get fixed by a wonderful Lady dr.who actually ent to schmuck drs seminars.she almost fainted when she saw the amended path report.....
enuf.its Christmas time and time for joy and time for cheer.
Come on duky-----share that case of vodka ya got.....ill be right over.
hello everyone.....and a big hugggggggggg to all the sistas who made it past 70.Damn we are good...and we will beat this sucker....yes we will...B9 everyone forever. K
-
Thanks to all of you for the nice welcome.
I know from reading all these posts most of you seem to know each other well.
Hopefully I can get to know you all, as well.
I guess just a little background on my problem can get me started a little. I had Hodgkins probably around 40 or more years ago and had many rounds of radiation. I had read that a younger person having Hodgkins and lots of radiation is very prone to breast cancer. I then asked my oncologist and he said that is very true. So then of course I think maybe the breast cancer was caused by the radiation and not necessarily from my hormones and thennnnnnnnnnn I think do I really need to take Arimidex. Just putting some feelers out if anyone has any input to my situation. Thaks

Ducky
I have to admit I had to laugh at one of your last posts. I will bet you are the life of the party.
I too am 76. Have 3 children, 5 grandchildren. No great grand kids yet. None of my grand children are married. I don't know what they are waiting for. They don't take after their old grandma!! Married at 17!! And you can really bring over that vodka, because I have great fixins to make a great chocolate martini. LOL Oh yes I mean really bring it over as I don't live too far from you. I live in Pottsville Pa. (Did you ever hear of it)
I, too, had my last mastectomy in Feb of 2011. No lymph node involvement, clear margins and stage 1. I had no chemo. Did you?
Rosieo
-
Didn't hear from my dr.....so have to start again tomorrow calling and waiting! I'm very disappointed that this is taking so long. Others have received theirs immediately so what is the problem with mine. I'm not as calm since they took me off my hormones so I might just give this guy a piece of my mind tomorrow if I don't get answers.
-
Ro..............no chemo either..............Rads, and I am on Femara.............the (brand), not the generic..............I am familiar with Pottstown, (went there as a little girl to visit an aunt)........so Pottsville can't be far from there..................
We do have a lot of fun oh here, and honestly we sound like we know each other well, and have actually met.........we haven't, at least I haven't.............Threre a several women from the area around where I live.......but have yet to meet any of them........
I have 2 married grandchildren, both girls............the others, even though some of them are old enough, are not ready for trip to the altar..................I was just 21 when I married, so waiting till so much later blows my mind, but that is what the kids do today..............I was married in 1956, had my 1st baby in 57, 2nd in 58, and 3rd in 59............then took a rest, and had 3 more...........63,65, 69........my youngest is 42, and my oldest is 53.............3 boys, and 3 girls...........all good kids, with great careers..............and all within 5 minutes of my home..........actually one of my daughters took me shopping today (food, not xmas), and another daughter came, and trimmed my whole house , inside and out...........my youngest daughter bought me a Santa hat that says "bah humbug".......................that just about describes xmas for me......................I always say "I love New Years".............people say "why New Years".................I tell them........................"cause all the xmas "bullshit" is over, and we can all go back to quiet living again..............................my husband (who died 20 years ago) loved xmas..................but why wouldn't he......................I did all the work..................lost him very young he was 57, and to cancer...
Well now that I have probably bored you to death , let me end by saying.....................WELCOME........................come back often...............its always good for a laugh........................and watch that Granny, she will steal your Vodka when your not looking.
-
Hi Everyone!
Path report finally came in....clear nodes and margins!! I'm a happy camper right now!
Break out the vodka and have a drink on me! Thanks for all the support through this ordeal!
PS...I'm 71, have 4 children, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
-
Kaara.......................what a fantastic christmas present...........I am so happy for you.........the clear margins are really important...................not to make slight of the "no node".........that is great too............once I had all those Dr. things behind me, I managed to control everything else so much better..............I always said it was the "not knowing" that drove me nuts...........
I'm gonna fill my "RED SOLO CUP", and drink to my good friend, with great news..............hugs, and you go girl....................get out that "RED SOLO CUP"...................
-
