Met with my MO today. Due to my low Oncotype Score and tumor grade I do not need and would not benefit from chemo. I will however need hormonals, Zometa and rads. I'm grateful that I won't have chemo, but need to learn more about the treatments I will start very soon. Help!

I am so pleased this is now available to b.c. patients.  I wish it had been around when I was dx. I was only 7mm with an isolated tumour cell and chemo was recommended which I reluctantly agreed to out of fear. Now I have to live with the side effects from the chemo.

Great news yorkiemom - I have been told no chemo based on all tests to date.  Only remaining test is the OncoDx.  I get results on 01/06.  Until then, I am moving forward with my recon.  No chemo, no rads.  At some point I will start Tamoxifen.

She, best wishes for a LOW Oncotye score. My guess is it will be. You already know you have a low Stage and Grade. I think these factors are all connected. HUGS!

Shechirple....no rads for you...wow, that is wonderful too!

It looks like RADs is next for you. I didn't mind RADs as much as some women. The table you have to lay on is a table & not really comfortable. Most treatments go quickly. The first 1 or 2 take more time & every week they have to take Xrays. I had worse than average skin issues but managed. I was also a grade 1 with a low oncotype & a couple of positive nodes. What a relief to finally have your treatment plan!

coraleliz, it's a little confused right now what I'll be starting first. Meet with the radiologist next Wed. My husband and I have had an anniversary trip scheduled for nearly a year for mid-January. We have been prepared to cancel it, but didn't know for sure what my treatment plan would be, so have held off. Anyway, when talking to my MO yesterday, she said we might be able to start hormonals and maybe Zometa (can't remember exactly what she said), and rads later. Point is that I would be getting treatment and zapping stray cells, while still going on the trip. I kind of like the idea of systemic treatment first, to ensure those trouble makers, if any, swimming through my body are taken care of. But this will depend on the RO. If he says rads come first and now, then we cancel the trip. So, I'm still waiting to know my treatment plan. At least I got a road map some very positive news yesterday. I desperately needed it!

Glad you had a good, meaning not horrible, experience with rads. Did you burn any?
