Hair Hair Hair - Another question

Thanks, Nancy! Here's a picture of the back...
I think it's pretty good for 10 weeks PFC! It's hitting the top of my collar, yeah!!! I'm expecting it to be really curly in about a month. I was curly to begin with, the question is just how unruly will it be? I don't really care - all hair is good!
-
Thanks, Nancy! Here's a picture of the back...pretty good for 10 weeks PFC. The hair is starting to hit my collar and it's about 1 1/2 inches long back there. I think it has filled in really well, so I have no complaints. I'm expecting serious curl in about a month. My hair was curly pre-chemo, it will be interesting to see just how unruly it becomes.
It's hard to believe I'm 10 weeks PFC. Back in April I couldn't even imagine the end of chemo; time has certainly flown by.
-
Wow! You are my idol Michelle!
-
Thanks, Nancy!
I see you had brachytherapy...please read this article coming out of the 2011 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium:
http://www.medpagetoday.com/MeetingCoverage/SABCS/30058?pfc=101&spc=224
Please keep a close watch... I'm a shining example of brachytherapy failure.
-
Thanks Michelle, I read it already. Distressed me greatly. I do have some questions about the study as the reference I was reading talked about the seeds. Mine was an electronic beam, but don't know if that's a significant difference. It has however, reinforced my decision on doing the chemo. Even without this new info, I would have been forever vigilant.
-
Dawn yourwelcome. It feels good to be able to help others as I was helped when I went through it.
Racy keeps us posted on those hair extensions I would love to see pics. I wanted to get them but I can't afford it. Too bad medicaid wont cover that. Maybe some time American Cancer Society could get someone to donate them for free. But until then I am ok with waiting for it to grow back to where it was.
-
Michelle, I can't believe how long your hair is, I'm 10 PFC too and have maybe half of what you have. Your hair looks fantastic!
-
Tomorrow will mark six months PFC for me. I am beginning to be able to have a part in my hair. Small victories!
-
Beautiful, McCrimmon! You're making great progress! You look fantastic!
-
Hoover is adorable although I think he's giving you the "you're really making me wear that???" look...LOL!
-
My goodness! my hair came back THICK as a BRICK, salt and pepper and curly.
It's so easy to take care of....I'll never, ever ,ever color it or let it grow. My profile pic is what
my hair is gonna be 4 life.
It ain't all bad.........
-
LuvRVing, we have tons of hats for our dogs. Unfortunately we don't have children so I have been forced to annoy the heck out of my dogs. Hoover looks especially cute in his Christmas Elf Hat.
-
Vivirasselena - your hair looks very, very chic!!!
-
just me, lurking again, ladies.. you all look great.. even a little hair makes a difference. but i seem to get more on my armms and face, than on my head hahaha3jays
-
Wow LUVRving....what great hair for 10 weeks post...I am 13 weeks PFC and still don't have much....yes it is coming in but seems fine and grayer and well...I will jsut have to be patient I think...I will try to post a picture too.
-
My hair has done a great job of coming back, but I don't think it is going to be with me too long....started adriamycin yesterday so will have to try to get a good pic of it this weekend before it starts falling out.
-
Susan - mine is very fine and grey, adding the color made a huge difference.
Marybe - I read your post about doing low dose Adriamycin. I hope your hair hangs in there!
-
bak94, I too am 6 wks pfc today and not seeing much growth. Very sparse, fine, peach fuzz maybe and I think its grey! But I've been told that 6 to 8 wks is when we are most likely to see progress, so fingers crossed. LuvRVing is my idol.....lucky girl!
-
Wish me luck ... .I'm gonna go topless for the first time tomorrow at a party at our house. I will post pics next week. SCARED TO DEATH!
-
You go, MamaV!!! And you will rock the short do!!! Seriously, you'll probably get a ton of compliments because you will look beautiful!
-
Good Luck MamaV!!!
-
Yes, good luck MamaV. You will be brilliant.
By the way Vivsrasselena, you look AMAZING with your salt and pepper short "do". I may try for the same. You ladies are soooo inspirational. Off to rads....
Cath -
Good luck, MamaV. I think you will be amazed at how good it feels to go topless.
-
Good luck MamaV! You will love it! It is scary at first, but after a couple of times you wont even think about it. I dont know if I will ever grow my hair back out real long, I am loving it!
-
ksmatthews - It's funny that you say you may not grow your hair out long, I've never had anything close to short hair in my entire life and I have to say, I think I'm really enjoying it right now and am torn on growing it real long again.
-
Good luck mamaV with going topless. It is scary especially those of us that had long hair. I have gone topless around family and close friends but that is it so far.
Ugh.... My hair is about 1/2 inch long 15 weeks pfc and far more grey then it was prior to Chemo. I plan to color once it is a bit longer.
