This show has gotten 'easier' on the contestants. I agree with the above posts. Too much 'sfuff' going on with redemption island, etc. The immunity idol comes back into play too often. Find it use it or not and then it's DONE. Can't blame the contestants for a boring (IMO) season. If they are suffering (starving, etc.) the editors aren't showing it.

Lex did catch a nasty intestinal parasite in Survivor: Africa. I think there have been others, but can't pull them out of my head at the moment. All I can remember now is that Probst, in Season 1, got a jellyfish sting to the nuts.

What I'd like to see is one tribe from Day 1. Draw lots to divide into teams for each challenge until halfway through, where it switches to individual challenges. You'd have to be on good terms with everyone, since you'd never know who was going to Tribal Council with you until teams were picked for that week's Immunity Challenge. Get rid of Redemption Island - I miss the fights over who gets reward. Maybe one hidden immunity idol and when it's gone, it's gone.

I was so torn - would somebody please make a move, already? - but on the other hand, Cochran deserved to go for thinking he could just scramble right before each TC and somehow skate through. There are plenty of "goats" to drag along to F2 or F3: Edna, for thinking that sucking up to Coach and being Martha Stewart around camp constitutes a valid strategy or making herself valuable; Brandon, for being one of the craziest (and least strategic) in a very long line of crazies and non-strategists; Rick, the mute (and under the radar until he almost won immunity tonight); Albert, for being a diva around camp and suddenly discovering he can win challenges; Ozzy, for having pissed off so many by thinking fishing and winning challenges means the others will roll over and give him the win.

Sophie isn't playing very smart right now, IMO. She bitches about others while declining to actually make a move herself, while continuing to be a challenge threat.

I so hate to say it, but I think this game is Coach's to lose unless somebody wakes up and takes him out. And again, I'm torn between wanting Cochran to get the hell off my TV already, and thinking it would be hysterically funny if he beat Ozzy at RI.

Ozzy made a very strategic move by arranging to be sent to RI.  He left the game still liked and appreciated by his team mates and lives without stress in an environment he seems to enjoy.  When Ozzy rejoins the tribe most of the strong players will have been either voted off or exhausted by the stress of the social game.  He has a real shot at winning.

I disagree. He'd pissed off quite a few with his entitled attitude, and Upolu has no reason to want him in the finals. He's out of the loop socially as long as he's on RI, so I don't see the benefit of going there sooner than he had to.* Like Matt, I predict that whoever comes back from RI will be voted out again as soon as humanly possible. Hmm, would that be a record? Being voted out 3 times in one season?

*Unless one makes the argument that his social game is detrimental, and he's better-liked the less he's with the tribe.

Ozzy is better liked the less he is with the tribe.  Also he will be in better physical shape than the other contestants.  Just look at the size of the fish he catches for himself vs the tiny fish the tribe catches and has to share.

I was so glad to see Cochran leave. It would be a sad twist if he beat Ozzie. It will be interesting, and perhaps telling, to see what sort of challenge they will give them.

I remember Ozzies first season and his unbelievable physical skill in the contests. Remember the water polo game that he won for his team nearly single handedly when his teammates couldn't keep up.

I have to say that Coach is playing a much smarter game than he has previously. I know there is some sociological explanation as to why he is followed nearly without question. I would want him out of there as soon as possible or like someone said it is his for the losing.

Is it still survivor or "Camp Luxe" now? I wonder if there were some threats of law suits for damaging contestants health. Some disclaimers won't hold up if there is negligence shown.

Ginger, I think there was legal trouble over Australia (malnutrition, even though they had to offer more food late in the game) and Africa (the water supply was contaminated by elephant's pee and poo, and several folks got intestinal parasites). They have had plenty of food and even potable water for rewards since then, as well as handing out flint and even letting the losers of the first immunity challenge have fire after their first TC.

That water in Africa was frightening.  They had serious trouble with dehydration in Guatemala.

Yeah, I forgot about Guatemala. That was grim, with folks going down on the initial hikes to their camps.

OK. I guess I wasn't as torn as I thought I was, because when it looked like Cochran might beat Ozzy, I was suddenly rooting for Ozzy. Also didn't believe for a minute they'd dump Brandon over Edna. Coach probably thinks she's a guaranteed vote for him at Final Tribal, but he may be sadly underestimating how upset she is. And, wow! Probst still managed to shoehorn in a reference to Russell, even though he wasn't there *gags* And even Brandon's dad thinks he's nuts. Good times.

I was rooting for Cochran! I hope it isn't Ozzy and Coach at the end but I don't know if the remaining players have enough savvy to get something together against Coach.

I am sure the 'teaser' of Edna possibly (???) beating Ozzie at redemption island is wrong, he will probably win - unfortunately IMO.

I have watched all of the seasons and I think this is one of the most boring-est ones Don't know why but I usually look forward to Wed, but not this season, maybe it is the people I think they need to change a few things back to the way they use to be.

I think bringing Ozzy and Coach back was a mistake.  Some of the people could have been interesting if they had a chance.  For example, that gambler/business guy could have really been a game changer but Coach spotted him early on as a threat.  I agree, this season is boring.

I used to absolutely love Survivor but I could care less this season I don't like redemption as it takes away from the game.  I wish they would go back to basics or do one complete tribe and see how people pair up and make alliances.  That being said I would rather see Ozzy win as he has always been a real competitor, not so great on the social but I do like him, if I was stranded on an island he'd be the one I'd want standing next to me.

Wow, Rick nailed it re: Brandon's play tonight: 'Dumb move." But I still think Coach shot himself in the foot by taking advantage of that - only because he has set himself up as Brandon's mentor, loyal friend, fellow Christian "warrior", etc. It really makes Coach look bad to everyone else, so if they were looking for a reason to not give him the million, he just handed it to them. And I'm not sure what's been going through Coach's head lately. Had he gone to Final Tribal Council with Edna and Brandon, he would have been a lock to win. Now? Who knows?

Do you think though that Coach will try to explain it as a grand plan with Brandon now dueling with Ozzy?

I think he'll wiggle and squirm; but I'm not sure anyone's buying what he's selling. Convenient that "God's" will and Coach's best interests coincide here.

Question: what would be Coach's best strategy for his FTC speech? Should he continue to insist he was never the tribe's leader, and that he never back-stabbed anyone, complete with over-explanations of how everyone misjudged him and his motives? Or should he own it and ask them to respect his gameplay and that he did what he had to do to get to the end, and that's the whole point of the game, blah, blah, blah?

I haven't been on in a while.   I will agree with you, this is one of the worst seasons I've seen in a long, long time.  My daughter and I were watching trying to decide who we liked and both decided we didn't care for any of the remaining contestants.  If I had to choose it would be Ozzy only because he has played the game to win.  I don't like anything about the way he has acted or played, but has played to win.  As for the pray to decide who goes home tonight crap with Coaches group, I think they've overused the whole god angle.  There isn't one of them that hasn't lied, bullied, been mean spirited, etc, but if they pray about it they figure all is well.  I don't think so.  This is a game for a million dollars, out wit, out smart, out play, not out pray, be nice, don't lie and be honest.

Let's hope next season is worth watching.

    Finale tonight!

Checked theme for next season, looks like men vs. women but on the same beach in Samoa - that's what I read.

It's almost 7:30 here and still not on. At 9pm I'm going to watch the finale of Homeland so I won't see who wins. Homeland is a much better show. I'll catch the highlights on-line tomorrow. I really don't care who wins.

I think Coach choked those last few days and esp. during the (bitter, bitter) jury questioning. He wanted to have it both ways, making agreements he knew he had no intention of keeping (unless you believe his confessionals where he "agonized" over the back-stabbing we all knew he was going to do), while lamenting that they would be angry over his two-faced behavior. Betrayal is angsty hard, y'all!

I liked the editing where Rick was talking about Coach squirming and wiggling to avoid telling a direct lie, and then cutting to Coach hemming and hawing, making a face and not answering, or shrugging and turning away. Sorry, dude, you don't get credit for playing the game 'honorably' just because you didn't directly lie (although, ironically, he did that, too). There are lies of commission (direct falsehood) and lies of omission (where you avoid revealing something to give a false impression). I really did agree with him being taken to task over using a semblance of religion to deceive and advance himself in the game. No, it's not against the rules, but others also have the right to think you're a slimy hypocrite for doing so.*

*I wouldn't have had a problem with him lying, deceiving, etc. except that he kept hammering on that "I'm an honorable man with integrity" and giving assurances that he was a true Christian warrior/brother/fellow Christian only so they would believe his lies.

I'm not sure whether Sophie stepped up her game by owning her actions and being consistent, or whether she just looked good by comparison to those in the final tribal council with her.
