Yes so so so so so so much to celebrate around here!!!!
Congrats to those reaching new ELAB milestones.
I weighed in this morning at 141.4 and I did a happy dance before my shower.
Having a group to be accountable to is MONUMENTAL!!!
I have forsaken my evening dish of ice cream-snack for the last 10 days or so and with the increased mobility it's exciting to see some progress!!!! Whoohooooo!!!!
Just in time for the gobble, gobble festivities cross country. We will be having at least 3 different festive meals in 3 different states.
Must find seat belt to stay in the saddle.
Samsue. I am so proud of you for adding some running. (Something I never, ever do.)
Meecie, where are you??? Are you feeling better?
Zogo you need an award, dearie.
Conference starts in the morning. I just read my workshop description in the program and in the notes it says its appropriate for elementary and junior high.............. they only missed by a mile and a half!!!! It should have read PreK and Kindergarten. Slamming head against the wall. Who knows if any one will stay once I tell them that its WRONGWRONGWRONG.
ye gads................

Faithie, Hope you don't lose your whole audience from the start! I'm sure many will find value in your presentation

Late check in with the Flock:
Maintaining from prior week = 1 point
Exercising = not much! Probably about 5 points.
Missed the Friday Check-in = 0 points
Meeting daily water intake = 7 points
"Extra Credit" points: I spent 3 days in a watercolor workshop, all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was good for my soul and mental health. I also did PCP appointment and made progress with physical therapy - range of motion is nearly 100%, strength about 50% but improving, and I am doing those stretchy-band exercises at least every other day (they only take about 10 minutes right now, but that will increase as I get more exercises to do, then I can count them and get more credit for activity!). And I climbed stairs to 5th floor DH office instead of taking elevator for the first time since before surgery!
Total: 14 points
Congrats to all of you who are making progress toward your goals! Hang in there, I know the holidays pose such a challenge.

Happy Thanksgiving one and all,
Between holiday prep, house painting and cleaning and not exercising, plus eating and drinking yesterday (even though I made wonderful low carb foods that the whole family liked), I have effectively managed to put on pounds. Yes, thats plural, more than one pound. More like 3, arghh. But, posting it is good reinforcement to make it lower next week (and get me points on E-Lab).
So here goes for my check in:
Friday 3 pts
Wt up (171) 0 pts
Exercise 4 pts
Water 6 pts
Total 13 pts
-
Roadrunner checking in (sort of)
weight: didn't weigh myself this morning. Ate too much yesterday and a lot more salt than usual so I know my weigh it probably up a few pounds that will come off over the next few days.
No ponts.
water: 7 points
exercise: 8 points
extra credit: got all my liquid diet meals ready for after sinus/throat surgery on Monday. 1 point
Checking in; 3 points.
Total = 18 points

Belated Thanksgiving wishes to all the US Birdies!!
Sorry I missed last week - things have been a bit 'meh' lately.
So - Friday check in 3 pts
Water - 7 pts
Exercise - I don't know - rushing about at work for a good spell, then sitting in car driving for a good spell - it's hard to quantify the 'exercise' value and I just haven't the time to dedicate myself to specific exercise anymore.
Extra Credit - 1 pt as I had to go for a second round of vaccinations for work.
I wou ld really love to lose about 10 pounds but with Christmas looming I imagine I probably have a better chance of gaining 10 pounds than losing weight!!
Well keep on keeping on ladies!!
-
Checking in with the Flock:
Gaining from prior week for those needing to gain = 2 points
Exercising = Still not much, but slightly better: 6 points
Friday Check-in = 3 points
Meeting daily water intake = 7 points
"Extra Credit" points: Nothing significant.
Total: 18 points
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Monday is the day I am supposed to get back to my water aerobics and dance classes, so my activity level should be up next week. If it's not, you all have permission to yell at me!
-

3 points for checking in on Friday.
Today was our 2nd of 3 Thanksgiving feasts and today's was out-landish in every possible way.
We are on the beginning leg of a 10 day road trip. We are now as far as the Carolinas, headed next to DD/SIL in DC-area for a couple of nights and turkey.
Hugs to all and to all a good hug.
(BTW: they made an announcement to the entire conference about my workshop description being mucked up in the program -- and indeed I had a delightful crowd of 'my' people!!!! YEAH!!)
Next up a series of presentations in upper NY, well Binghamton area, do you consider that upper? Followed by a conference in Tenn on the way back to FL. Hubby says it will be a total of 2200 miles. YIKES!!!

hey all, yesterday I was listening to the People's Pharmacy on NPR. They had a FASCINATING show on sugar. Here's a link to their main site (some interesting stuff posted there), then the specific show.
http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/
http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2011/11/26/802-sugar-hazards/
here are a few thoughts I retained from the show:
Eat food in its natural state, as it comes out of the ground. Avoid fruit juice, just eat the fruit. Anything in a box was processed for self-life. Shop the outsides of the grocery store (meat & veggies) and stay out of the aisles. Look for hidden sugar in processed foods.
Take the grams of sugar from the food label and divide it by four, that will tell you the number of teaspoons of sugar in a serving of that product. My 'healthy' non-fat greek yogurt contains 13 grams or 3.25 tsp of sugar - yikes!
Eat low-glycemic index foods which slow down the absorbtion of sugars in the digestive tract.
There was a lot more, about sugar and insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome (very bad).
Just wanted to pass this along... take care everyone!

Thanks Badger for the link.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celeberate it! I was one of the unlucky few who spent the weekend on the sofa and in the bed battling a migraine for 3 days and the stomach bug... AGAIN!! I just can't seem to kick this stuff. I didn't eat very much and i haven't drank very much either I fear I'm a tad dehydrated. I've got to work on that. Take care and I hope that I can check in on friday.
-
Dear mimi, it's one stubborn bug, you are better for a bit and it hits again, I'm on my second refill of antibiotics, it turned into a sinus infection, my daughter had the stomach bug, down and out for 3 days with that. Hope you are feeling better soon, being sick that long is boring and depressing. Karen

I have got to get it under control. We had a meeting at work and two people brought donuts. Throughout the day I ate 3! They were right there, and I didn't leave for lunch, but that's no excuse. Then I took a coworker to his GF's work because she had his car. She work's at a drive through coffee stop and had a "Jumpin' Monkey" ready for me when I dropped him off. (Her thank you for driving him twice this week.) I imagine that it held my total suggested coloric intake for the day.
Since I have been sick the past month I don't do much when I get home other than eat dinner and get to sleep. I am sure that's not burning any calories.
This is going to be a tough season for me.
