Having my annual Thanksgiving panic attack over whether the power will stay on to finish cooking dinner. It seems like here in the Seattle area, we have a windstorm on Thanksgiving more often than not. It's whipping up now-I'm hearing garbage cans blowing over all over the street.

Mary, maybe it's a sign that you folks in Washington state should start celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving (second Monday in October).  You're close enough!

Kidding aside, hope all goes well and that you and your family enjoy hot turkey and trimmings today!

With all those recipes, menus and photos, I am almost feeling full! Hope all of you south of the border have a great Thanksgiving. It certainly seems to be a bigger deal there than our earlier one.

i was just thinking we needed to make a bigger deal of Thanksgiving and not let the Chrristmas hype drown it out.

Ooooh just saw Barbara's turkey....yumm. The one I had was great. I prefer dark meat.

Rosemary, I agree. They seem to be moving Christmas further and further forward from the commercial point of view and Thanksgiving feels more like a brief interlude. Shocking.

Thank you to all of you, my friends. You may never know how much you have done for me. I have been through more than I care to relate, especially in the past two years and for the past few weeks I have seen light at the end of this tunnel as a few things finally, finally, begin to turn a corner. There is a long way to go and I could die, and failure is still highly probable, but less so than in the past. Success and happiness is less improbable.

I don't share that much because a privacy freak is a privacy freak....but you all make a tremendous difference for me and you should never forget it. I came here because of breast cancer and come away with so much more, including love and acceptance.

Thank you E, HL, Bren, Otter, Susie, Blue, Sunflowers, Barbara, Lindasa, AnnNYC, White Rabbit, the Marys, Alpal, Rosemary, 3monst, our pastor and chief bartender and so many more....

Thank YOU, Athena. You can't know how often I have appreciated your words of wisdom on this board.

I am thankful for all of you. I can share things with you that I don't want to burden my loved ones with and you all provide such great feedback. I feel like I know you, even though we have never met.

Power stayed on today and a grand feast and a good time was enjoyed by all.

We're off down to northern New South Wales tomorrow to visit DH's stepmother - about a 2 1/2 hour drive. Poppy won't like the holiday I have planned for her. We're only going for one night but she gets 2 nights/3days at the vet.

On a training course for 2 days at the start of next week, so that will be fun, I won't have to go in to the office.

Spent the afternoon at work moving people's things - we swapped places with another team on the same floor - I was the coordinator for our end and had to pack up people who were absent - I think I cleaned 4 desks total and this stupid b^&*h complained about the smell of the spray cleaner because I was doing it a bit early. I told her I wasn't staying back until 6 pm to pack and move people who weren't there. Then she said the desk I was moving to had been cleaned a couple of days before, well it was dirty (don't worry I told her) so I cleaned it again - too bad so sad.

I left them all to it - I'd done my bit.

Hope you girls have a lovely weekend

Chaplain - thank you for Blessings, always, always open to receive blessings - and they are bountiful here.  Thank you Athena, thank you, I (we) have learned so much from you - reminding us we each are doing this BC thing with SO MUCH MORE on our respective "plates" - and how much the community of kind women helps make all the burdens lighter.

Thank you BD - original "creator" of this Refuge, this happy, silly, wonderful place of women who respect each other, laugh with each other, exchange hugs, and support each other in every day little things and Big Things ( scanxiety being only one) INSPIRING WOMEN, always thankful, so sorry for the disease which originally brought us together - thankful for all that keeps us together!

Artsee & I won't fight for the skin (this time) cuz I ate so much of it yesterday - best bits are just around the "opening" after that metal thingie is removed Tongue out

NOPE -  gotta eat oatmeal at breakfast to keep our cholesterol down.  Esp. for those of us on the A Team.  I'm so proud of lowering mine by more than 20 points this year.  Still higher than pre Arimidex...and not easy.  But worth it.  Good think I had it tested b4 I cooked turkeyWink

Blue, LOVED the dog in the back seat! (Had a vision of you in that beautiful red car sitting on the side of the road with Mr. Cop scowling because you were clocked at over 100, then laughed with relief when it was a joke. Needed that!)

    Hi Friends!

I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday.  I thoroughly enjoyed Thanksgiving with my family.  We had lots of fun and lots of good food.  And the weather was great!

I'm so thankful for all of you ... and so grateful I got to meet so many wonderful 'sisters' at Niagara on the Lake this past summer.  It was such a special time.

Hope everyone has a good day,

    Bren

Athena - I was telling DH what you said above and he was touched. He said that I have to come to NOTL next year and then started talking about how we could fly to Vancouver and drive east across the Rockies - sounds like a plan :)

Happy Day after Thanksgiving! Had a great dinner with good friends last  night. Our hostess had a business trip to Toronto a few weeks ago and brought home some ice wine. That stuff is good!!!! One more reason to go to NOTL next year.

Susieq - coming to Canada is a great idea - and driving through the Rockies is a great idea. It might be another great idea to fly from the Rockies (maybe Calgary) to Ontario or you will be on the road for a really long time. Through a whole lot of Canada.

Athena ... I would love a DC gathering.  It's only 5 hours from me ... a lot closer than NOTL.  I hope to make to NOTL again next year.  It was such a wonderful weekend.  Hope you can go too!

Susie .. that would be a long drive from the Rocky's to NOTL.  But it would be wonderful to see you!

I need to get ready to go pick up Tim in Martinsville.  The load he is driving doesn't deliver until Monday, so he's stopping here for the night on his way to wherever it is he's going.

Hope everyone has a great day,

    Bren
