Kira -- I don't recall Coco ever losing his appetite either before, or after, he was dx'd. In fact, we did think he was maybe eating too much because of the swollen belly.I do know that the test verified FIP (because there was "some" hope that it wasn't FIP). That's about all I can tell you. (darn, I sure hate not being able to give good news....)
-
Dang I was so hoping the test had been wrong. What ever test he had said FIP as well. My DS and his new wife wre so hoping it was wrong. All I can say is they plan to keep him around till he seems in pain. They just love him, which I understand he is a sweety.
-
Susie - Poppy is ADORABLE. What a skilled contortionist, too.
Sorry about you son's litty, Kira!
-
Thanks Athena - she's a British Blue - soft soft fur, not like a normal cat. She was a stray and the son of a lady I used to work with found her when she was a wee kitten. He and his girlfriend kept her hidden from the landlord where they lived until they broke up and he moved back home. They had her there for a year and then my friend decided they didn't want her as she was stopping their cat from coming to the house - so now she's mine - a bit over 2 years now. We think she's now 5. I wish she was more friendly - as in it would be nice if she jumped up on my lap. But she does like to hang around where we are (especially me because I am the food source), so that's something.
Kira - what are they calling him?
-
Kira:
Please tell your son not to give up hope - we had a cat Keek who adopted us when he was about a year old - he was diagnosed with FIP when he was 12 and suddenly started to lose weight - he had contracted FIP at birth (or before) according to our vet - we had him put to sleep a month after his diagnosis - at the same time my BFF had two cats diagnosed with FIP - they were 13 years old and litter mates and they were put to sleep within the month as well - so it seems that they live a very long life (and btw they didn't infect other cats in the house) at lot of the time and then they go downhill rather fast - I don't know why they'd give antibiotics but perhaps the kitty will surprise the vet and live a good long time.
-
Hey Athena - I told Poppy you think she is adorable and she said meow from one kitty to another

-
The kittens name is deuce. It's funny he came right up to them at walmart, and practically got himself into the car. He really is an amazing kitty.
Well the count down to Thanksgiving has begun. I have way to much to do. I am so happy I get the entire week off of school. I will be so tired by the time it's over. To bad my one drandson can't come. He has to spend it with the mom. Oh well, all the other grand kids will be here.
We plan to go swimming after the dinner Thursday. The pool is still 90 degrees. I so love Florida in the winter.
-
Kira - I hope Deuce has a long life with your son and his new wife. I have heard boy cats are more friendly - I keep warning Poppy I could swap her

-
Growwwwwwl back, Susie. :-)
-
LOL - I'll tell her.
-
Where is everyone???
-
Hey Susie~
Doing laundry over here...
Only time I have peace and quiet.
-
Hi Ang - I guess some people do have a life outside of these boards - I'm just bored at work so keep checking in

-
That sounds so funny at midnight...
Hope you have a good day.
-
Ang - yes it does doesn't it.
Well, our work Xmas party was on this afternoon - I decided not go - another bad night of little sleep. It didn't start until 4pm and I would rather come home and cool off.
-
It's waaay too early for xmas parties! Or for all the lights that are already up in my neighborhood. I love Christmas, but I love it starting in December.
(On the other hand, watching professional crews string lights on the big houses in Brentwood when I was on vacation in California last week was kind of cool.)

-
Lewing - in a work situation, I guess they have to have them early as people go on holidays. Our long Summer school holidays start in mid December.
-
Lewing, I'm with you. Christmas comes waaaay too early nowdays. There were towns around here that were putting up their street decorations and scheduling "Santa" arrivals in early November this year. Some stores had aisles stocked with Christmas cards, decorations, and wrapping paper etc. before Halloween.
I guess it's the other end of the schedule that bothers me even more.
Whatever happened to the "Twelve days of Christmas"??? Everything is torn down and/or put away the day after Christmas, even though schools are still closed and some people have the following week off work. According to my liturgical calendar (not that I still follow it), the "Christmas" season lasts from Christmas Day, to or through January 6 (Epiphany) (e.g., http://www.crivoice.org/cy12days.html). Some churches celebrate the "Christmas" season all the way to the Sunday following Epiphany.
As I've said elsewhere, I am not a religious person. I recognize that Western society already commits more time and money to this one Christian holiday than any other holy day in any other religion. Still, the marketing of Christmas is finally beginning to bother me. Too much of the supposed Christmas season is centered around merchants making a profit and shoppers finding bargains.
I can't help thinking a return to a more traditional calendar -- say, celebrating Christmas from December 24/25 to January 5/6 -- might motivate people to extend their generosity, compassion, and "joy", beyond that one day when Santa drops in.

I remember as a child putting up the tree Christmas eve. It made the day before Christmas so special. I would get up during the night to see what Santa had brought me. My parents always left the lights on that night so Santa would not trip over anything. What good memories.
I have some friends who have their trees up already. To early for me.
-
Kira and Otter,
I'm in agreement with you guys. We would put our tree a day or two before Christmas and so the excitement of Chrismas very strong on the Day. We kept the tree up until Epiphany. I still try to celebrate the "Christmas Season" but it gets harder each year. So few people have any knowledge of Advent, the Church season leading to Christmas. Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent. I have to admit, I'm excited about this season also. Guess I'm just old fashioned.
-
Hi Friends!
My mom is here visiting me and we put the tree up today. It looks so pretty! I wanted it up for Thanksgiving, as the family will be together. We won't be together this year on Christmas, so I wanted turkey day to be extra special with all the decorations.
Tomorrow we'll cook and bake pies. I have wonderful fresh apples, but I bought canned cherries for the cherry pie. I just hope Tim will be back for Thursday. He's in PA right now delivering a load of furniture.
The weather has been wonderful, but today is overcast .. supposed to rain too, but not a drop in sight. The temps are supposed to drop back into the low 50's again on Thanksgiving, which is normal for around here.
My cousin is doing really badly. She has lost control of her bladder and bowel and is being transferred to a hospital bed at her son's home. I don't think she will be here for Thanksgiving. She's gone downhill so fast. I am so grateful we got to spend time with her last weekend while she could enjoy our visit.
Hope everyone is having a good day,
hugs,
Bren

Went to the tune-up doctor today and was told no more tune-ups until next April. I'm not perfect but I knew I wouldn't be going into the surgery. I am a lot better though. The symptoms I have are residual. I'm where I was about 7 years ago. I can live with that. If not for the surgery, I have no doubt I would be bed-ridden by now. It was progressing in leaps and bounds. Last year around this time, I would fall off my chair without even realizing it, so I am very thankful for my surgeon's skills.
Virgil's honky tonkin was getting real bad so we had to take him to the vet. They gave him a cough syrup and it seems to be working.

Good news, BD. Stopping the progress is such a HUGE thing to be able to do. And taking you bak 7 years, well, all PRAYERS continuing for this to continue. YOU ARE SO BRAVE.
Just wanted to mention, there is a young girl, age 15, posting on the Just Diagnosed Forum about her Mom. Has gotten lots of good posts - but if anyone has a teenager, maybe you could just add a word for her. Seems her mom is IDC, 3N, Stage II. http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/5/topic/778497?page=1#idx_20

We put our tree up a week or two before Christmas and do special things for Advent. I hate that the Christmas stuff was out before the Halloween candy had sold out! I would love to hear Christmas carols on the radio and in the stores until Epiphany.
-
Bren, so very sorry about your cousin. Prayers for you and your family.
Blue, good news that you are 'tuned up'. Hugs and kisses to Virgil.
Hi y'all. Tonight is manicotti (spinach, ricotta and other secret ingredients), salad with avocado, artichoke hearts and fresh baked Italian bread from Mazzaro's. Love that place. http://www.mazzarosmarket.com/

Blue - glad you seem to have stabilised.
Bren - I hope you cousin finds peace.

Oh, Bren, I'm so terribly sorry about your cousin. It truly was a blessing that you were able to spend time with her last week. I hope she's comfortable and surrounded with love.
Blue, yahoo! on the tune-up, and double-yahoo on no more tune-ups til April.
Since I'll be hitting the road tomorrow afternoon to get a head start on the holiday (the feast is at my SO's brother and sister-in-law's in Chicago this year), I have to get started on my contribution tonight. I'm bringing - wait for it - brussel sprouts!

Bren. I am so sorry about your cousin. What a blessing you had some time with her last week.
Blue so glad you feel so well.
Have been working all week to get ready for Thanksgiving, in the past it was one day, but not so anymore.
-
Let's hear it for brussel sprouts!
The under appreciated veggie...
-
We're back to sprouts? *ducking and looking for incoming*
