Oh, I started a new page.  Wish I would have added something a little more clever or thought provoking than 'waiting stinks'.  Seems like a new page deserves something better :)

I personally don't buy into that crap about the drinking caused BC.  Look at all of the different people that are here at BC.org.  There are people that have never had a drink in their lives.  There are vegans, vegetarians, body builders, nurses, doctors, nutritionists, athletes... and then there are people like me that eat and drink whatever I feel like.  We are all here!  Maybe there are some things that you can do to stall it, but in the end I think it's just the luck of the draw.  Maybe that shoots down a lot of theories but after traveling this journey, it's just what I believe.

    Hugs to all!

paula--i totally agree.  the everchanging 'studies' only serve to scare people and make them feel guilty.  moderation in all things is my goal.   there is a huge widow maker hanging over our road.  if you don't hear from me one of these days, it may have conked me on the head.  wouldn't that just be a pisser (sorry)  -  do all this surgery & chemo & go into the light from a whack on the head.  we will be leaving shortly for arizona--hoping they find a way to safely get the thing down by the time we get back.

    good monday to all

Hey, J-team :)   I'm finally taking a break from the grading...seems I do that non-stop!  Seriously.  I think we should be called *testers* these days, not teachers :(    Honestly, a few weeks ago, in a seven day time period, I gave a total of  224 tests to my students!!!!!   It's absolutely crazy.  And our district is touting the fact that our test scores are higher than ever....sure they are!  We're testing, reteaching, and retesting all the time....grrrr...

So, on a different notes....so HAPPY for you, Sally :)  The pinch/pressure is/was exactly right.  Wish I had been on here earlier - that's what I would have told you....I had that done a couple of times.

For all of you struggling with your surgery issues, I"m so, so sorry....I will be praying that these issues will soon resolve and you SOON can get out and STAY out of OR's!!!!!

I have found that if I do morning stretches, the tightness of my chest is gone...but the minute I forget to do the AM stretches, I am miserable...bah.

My daughter (who passed out and ended up with the pretty bad concussion, and couldn't go to college this semester) started feeling more like herself (FINALLY!!) a couple of weeks ago!!!  Took a long time!!

YOungest son has two medical issues now....one is scoliosis (34 degree) caused by a misshapped/malformed vertebrae :(  We go to a spine doc next week.  A "guy" part has a problem too :(

Oldest son is still being manipulated/controlled by g'friend....

Mom was in rehab for 1.5 months after hip replacement.  She's now home, but is sick (got sick as soon as she GOT home)...can't eat or keep much down....sigh.

My mallet finger (torn ligament) is much better...I can play my flute now!!!!  but I haven't been released to play the piano yet :(   Still a couple more weeks for the splint.....grrrr

Thanks for all the words of encouragement on my job, you all!!!  You're just THE best!   I do love my students, but the work is exhausting.  At school for at least 10 hrs each day, then work at home for another 3 or so.....and work all weekend long.  No matter where we're driving to, I will have school work with me ......if I know I have to wait somewhere, school work is my companion.  It's getting really old not having a life.  NO amount of money is worth that.....

We decided that since this is the first time I've worked full-time in 20 years, we're taking some of the extra and going on a cruise in June.....as a reward for ALL of us and all we've been through in the past two years.....  Even the oldest (who has refused to go on any trip with us the past two years) has agreed to go alone :)         We'll be going about 10 days after school is *supposed* to get out.....so here's hoping there are NO snow days (however, I would very much welcome a two hr delay...ha!!)

Goood to catch up iwth everyone.....I think of you all SOOO often.  I'll try not to let so much time go by before I pop in again!!

    much love to all....blessings...robin

    Wonderful news Sally!!!! Phew!!!!!!! :)

Thanks for all the kindness for Smudge...it seems that Smudge and Shelby have the same cancer. Hemangiomasarcoma.....in his spleen that had to be removed and some spots on his liver.  I hope Shelby continues to do well.....15 months is so much more than any of the vets are giving Smudge. An alternative vet has had good results with a therapy for Smudge....we hold onto hope :)

Gina I hope Shelby is still well, happy and enjoying her life with you :)  I would love to know what choices you have made to care for her.

Hope this finds everyone well and strong....All the best xox....Laura

Laura, so sorry about your dog. My two English bulldogs are my constant companions thru all of this. They are always there ready to listen and not judge and just ask for little in return. I pray your Smudge will defy the vets. You never know what is possible.

    Hi Ladies,

I'm echoing Ann--you will be ok. I had IDC/DCIS/LCIS and started with a lumpectomy. Surprise! Close margin, so I did a re-excision. Surprise! Close margin again. 2nd, 3rd opinions. So I just decided to do BMX with recon. in Nov. I have small kids, am very busy, and don't want a recurrence. I went out of town for the BMX, which was a little tough planning, but well worth it. Look on some of the other threads for things to prepare for-->bring button down shirts to hospital, talk with the anesthesiologist if you get nauseous at all, they can give you this patch behind your ear and extra meds, etc. I admit I was a little anxious before surgery, but I knew I made the right decision. BC is so tricky.

I had BMX with hip flap tissue transfer (9 hour operation). When I woke up, my first thought was the tissue was OUT. It also really helped that my facility was full of incredibly supportive nurses and staff, and my DH was right there. Be sure to have someone there for you. Unlike Ann, I was in the hospital for 4 days. Catheter came out after two, and that's when I showered. I have never regretted the decision. I am currently healing still, so I can't tell you about the long term outcome but have faith in your doctors and YOURSELF and you will be fine. Hope this helps!

    Hi ladies!

    I hope you
    all had a great thanksgiving!

    Sally...great
news on your results! Congrats! :)

And Laura...I've been following Smudge's progress on facebook so I'm glad your
    spirits are up!

I'm headed to the Oncologist today to have another lump checked out. I'm hoping it's just
a fat necrosis but this time it's in a weird place that I wouldn't think a fat
necrosis would be in. If you're looking at my right foob head on, it's at about
2:00pm...just a 1/2 inch above the incision line. It feels as though it's just
under the top flap of skin...close to the breast bone and it's semi-firm...not
as hard as the bee bee I had biopsied last year that was up in a divot. sigh.  I'm afraid for them to biopsy this thing because it is sooooo close to the implant that I"m afraid they will
puncture my implant.. My husband's optimistic that it's just like the last one
that was in a divot and I guess it could be because the doctor did inject some
fat tissue into the 'ripple's but that was well over a year ago. Can you get a
fat necrosis after a long period of time like that?

My other issue is I'm getting pretty fat around the middle. Now, in the old days, you
could tell you were gaining weight because the boobs would be the first to
grow. (first to grow and first to go when you lost weight) but since they
remain the same, it's hard to tell if I'm just getting fat or if I've got
something else going on. I'm eating healthy since Kevin had his heart attack; power
walking 3 miles sometimes every day but at least 3x a week and I do Zumba and
body sculpting 2x week. My legs and butt look great, that's why I don't understand this rotund belly!  I think I'm going to request a pet scan if that's possible. I'll see how much my
weight gain is from the last time I was there and see if they'll approve that.  My time frame window is limited though with work and heading to AZ next week for my nieces wedding.  Has anyone ever had one?  How long do they take?

Anyway...hope you all have a good rest of your weekend.  Don't shop to much!  :)

    Kat

Well, I was almost home free.  I had an appointment at the Cancer Center with the nurse practitioner and she thought it was more of a cyst than a fat necrosis.  I got dressed and headed out to the reception to pay my 20 bucks and be on my way.  She (the NP) comes out to get me and says she called the Doctor and she wants to see me since it's so close to the sterum and it's on my original cancer side.  So back I go into the exam room.  The doctor says she's certain it's not a cyst and it's softer than a fat necrosis but it could be a fat necrosis.  In any event, it's back to the dreaded biopsy place again.

However, I've played this game before and I've got certain stipulations.  If they can't get me in this Thursday or Friday (the 1st or the 2nd) then it's going to have to wait until January.  And truthfully, I hope it does wait until January.  I'm sick of paying max out of pocket deductibles for the year only to turn around and do it again.  I'm currently on my husbands insurance, but I started a new (low stress) job and my new insurance will pick up in January.  We're headed to AZ on the 2nd for my nieces wedding so not being all beat up for that would be a bonus.   I'll keep you all posted on the outcome.

Oh, I also got pulled over for speeding on my way home.  Didn't get a ticket.  Good thing the tears were way too easy to turn on! :(

I'm so sorry Kat, this is all so unfair.  It just never seems to stop.  Please keep us updated and let us know when you have to go for the biopsy.  I will send out prayers and positive thoughts your way.  Did they say anything about the PET scan /weight gain ?  Will they be able to clear one with insurance ?

    Hugs Team January !

Hey thanks Team...it's great to lean on you!   I'm keeping all this on the DL especially around my girls and Kevin's girls.  This is such de'je vu...same time /Thanksgiving and everything.  I refuse to be freaked out.

I'm really really praying hard that this is nothing.  My weight gain is 6 pounds.  So, that last time I was at the doctors was in September...so 6 pounds in 2 months.  No talk on the pet scan.  biopsy first and then I'm sure we'll go from there.

I'll be curious to see if they can get me scheduled for this Thursday or Friday. It's amazing how liberating it feels to take the reigns and control over your care!  I suppose in one way I do hope it's this week, but on the other hand, waiting it out until January sounds pretty good to me too.  I mean, what if it goes away?

    Let's pray that it does!

Thanks again ladies.  Team January Rocks!

Hey ladies!  Just logging on to say hello.

Kat-I'm so sorry you're going through all of this!  I hope they are able to get you in when you want.  I know you need peace of mind.  I'm sending positive thoughts your way.  Enjoy your time here in AZ either way.  The weather has been great during the day, but really cold at night.

I think the last time I logged on (a long time ago) I mentioned how much I hate my boobs.  So much so that I avoided the PS for a full 6 months.  The "indentation" in the cleavage of my left boob made it look so much smaller and totally misshapen.  Well I finally had surgery to fix it on the 17th and go a tiny bit bigger.  They look great so far.  She does really good work.  She said the muscle had tightened in a strange spot.  I don't think I will ever feel comfortable wearing low cut shirts, but at least I can look at my boobs in the mirror now.

I hope everyone is doing well.  I don't get on to BCO like I should.  But I'm on Facebook every day because it's so quick and easy.  If anyone wants to be Facebook friends my name is Kim Melvin on there, and my picture is of me in a pink shirt standing next to the Arizona State Sun Devil.  I think that's my avatar picture??  I can't look right now because I'll lost my post.  Anyway.  Miss you girls! :-)
