Jan I had issues with pain since I have been on it, Im sorry to say. I know its not something you wanted to hear. The doctor I went to see says this is a common issue with the Tammo. He says that Im stiil pretty new to taking it that in a couple of years if I still have the pain issues that I may want to try a different inhibator. Right now not taking the Tammo wouldnt be a good thing for me.I hope it gets better for you, good luck.
Tink I pray all will get better by your US.

Hi ladies. Any of you experience thinning hair on this stuff? I had my hair coming in slowly and all of a sudden it is thinning on top again. So bad that I went back to wearing my wig! boy 3 steps forward and 2 back. . .
-
Teklya - I did have hair thinning. After reading that many ladies here have had the same problem, I took their suggestion and started taking Biotin 5000mcg and my hair is growing back. My hairdresser said it had done wonders - she tells me I even need haircuts more often. Oh! The Biotin can be purchased in any pharmacy or WalMart.
-
Teklya I also take biotin my hair really started thinning after starting tamox. The biotin has really helped.
Well ladies I am getting ready for bed and will have my extra large pockets on for all you gals to join me tomorrow. I had a first. The anethesiologist called me and spent 30 minutes on the phone going over everything and what he might do tomorrow depending on the surgeon. I have had quiet a few surgerys and I have never had one call me the night before. At least he won't feel like a stranger tomorrow.
-
SherryC - Best of luck tomorrow - will be praying for you
Diagnosis: 6/27/2011, IDC, <1cm, Stage I, Grade 2, 0/1 nodes, ER+/PR+, HER2- -
Sherry, thinking of you. Nice news re the anaesthesiologist.
Tink, thanks for the chocolate and thinking of you, too, re US.
Jan, you should discuss this w your onc when you see him (I'm now a believer in checking everything out if it doesn't go away by itself in a short time. Best case, its nothing. ) That being said, my very patient doctor husband reminded me that at 50, I'm allowed to have the normal aches and pains that come with this age. (Think he is probably ready to scream with every new complaint and fear of mine...) That not every ache is a recurrance or met. I am definitely achier on tamoxifen and have bursitis in my hip that causes shooting pains down my leg. I find that swimming and yoga really help. Sitting for long period makes it worse. Omega 3 tablets also help.
Took my last tamox pill last night til post op. Ooph is a week from today. Wonder if I'll feel differnt being off of it for a bit. Let you know!
Lots of activitiy among us! May we all sail through and enjoy all this pocket riding...
Love, Shari

pam, sherry, alicia, tink... 50/50 was a good one..bring some kleenex ..there is a lot of swearing though so be forewarned ...I liked how at no point did I think "Oh come on..it is not like THAT"...because it is...though how he portrayed "I'm not angry' perfectly...guess that is how I expressed my anger too actually...with the odd blow up that came out in tears but they were really anger I suspect....and the "I'm fine!"....and wanting to know information....trying to accept...and he first scene....oh yeah...a good one ladies!
Survivor11- holy cow!!! you have had a rough go lately...sending you hugs.
Tink- how'd ur appointment go??
rgiuff- I hadn't had a period in over two years and my levels were still off when I started the tammi...after I went off it (4 months later) , I waited four more months and had my levels retested... BiNGO!!! post menopausal...apparently the tammiy pushed me over the menopausal edge! also went from no hot flashes during those two years to holy cow!!! They have mostly gone away now...I get mild moments of heat but nothing that sends sweat pouring down my facelike being on tamoxifen did.
-
Gunner- glad you caught the blood clot..so hard to know what pains to pa attention to and which ones to ignore, hmm. Good grief!!!
Jo- does biotin have reactions with anything else? does your oncologist know you are taking it?I already have thin curly hair and hair loss is also a arimidex potetial symptom..wondering whether I should start taking it now or not....
-
Thinking of you SherryC !!
-
Sandee - Yes, my oncologist knows I am taking it and has no problem with it. It is safe to take with Tamoxifen. I have noticed my hair growing back. I don't see why you shouldn't start taking it. For peace of mind, you could always double check with your MO.
-
Thanks Jo. I will!
-
Welcome Sandee!!
-
Hoping SherryC is doing well and painfree.
Have a question, since I had the ooph and then was so sick, I have had an incredable problem with sweating. It isn't always associated with a major hot flash, but I mean one minute I'm fine and the next I'm dripping with sweat. Not sure if this is the Tammi, the thyroid issues or what. Any of you having this?
-
Anybody else have elevated liver enzymes on tamoxifen? Had my first blood test on tamoxifen and came back elevated. Retesting tomorrow. Don't know why really b/c I came back post menopausal too so I'm going to have to switch off anyway. Of course now my mind is spinning ... What else could be causing this?
-
I am back. I was in alot of pain yesterday because the tumor was laying on my chest wall muscle and according to my BS not an easy place to get to. Today the pain is much better, did not take pain pills this morning but by lunch I needed one. I have my surgical post op appt Monday afternoon and hopefully will have the path report back at that time. But BS did say that if it was malignant she would be surprised so that was good to hear. When they got me in the OR and starting cleaning the area around the wire it fell out. BS said she had never had that happen before and I looked at the mammo and you could see how there was a hook in the bottom in my breast so I don't understand how it could come out but it did. Radiologist had to come and redo it, but I was out for all that excitement and made surgery a tad longer. So know the waiting game again. WE all know how that sucks.
-
Sherry,
Yes, I think we all know how the waiting game is. I had to wait a week for my biopsy results and that was the longest week of my life. Glad you have less pain than yesterday. Hoping for B9 results for you. Take care.
-
Sherry - Yes, the waiting game does suck but glad you are home and doing well. Still keeping those fingers crossed for B9 results. (((((HUGS)))))
-
Sherry thinking of you and sending you gentle hugs!!!! praying for b9 results my friend! xo
-
(((Sherry))) Glad you are doing O.K. Hoping for B9 results!
-
(((Sherry)))) Prayers that B9 is whats in store for you!
-
Find a good movie or two Sherry...and let yourself relax...and then do the gentle exercizes to sretch those muscles:) glad it is over for you..by the time your body is starting to relax and unwind from surgery you will have your news...it will be perfect timing:) or that is what I ried to tell myself...worked most of the time.
-
Sherry been thinking about you and hoping you are healing nicely......when is the date to get your results? Hugs!
Time clock change tonight and I get an extra hour.......woo hoo.....
HI to all and sorry I haven't been on in the last week, just crazy busy but it is over.....miss ya all!
-
Hi, Ladies,
Sherry sending you good thoughts from across the ocean. Glad the biopsy is behind you.
All the best for a good new week to all of us. Shari -
Hello everyone, I am new to this site. This is my second round of breast cancer. This time my oncologist has put me on femara. I am having severe pain in my muscles and joints. Even my thumbs and wrist. Did anyone else experience this while taking femara? If so does anyone have any suggestions how to ease the pain? I almost feel like quit taking them , it is so hard.
