Almost half way there Ladyboss!!
I see my Onc. tomorrow to have my white cell count checked. 1 week tomorrow since my 3rd treatment and having terrible skin issues. Also starting to have problems with indigestion and queasiness at times. Mouth is still dry and has that burnt feeling, and also have some awful eye twitching going on. But other then that I think I am good. LOL
-
Peachy: be sure to lather your skin down with a good moisturizing lotion each day. Steroids cause acne. I used clearasil wash. For indigestion use a good probiotic. My personal favorite is PB8. I take it twice a day, and continue to do so. Now that you are at a week, the mouth issues should start easing up.
16 down - 17 to go
-
Saw my doctor this morning, and he said he is stopping my treatments at 3 and I will not have to have #4. I feel really icky today, he thinks my rashes are fungal and wrote me out a script for some cream. He also feels with my heart palps we need to stop at 3. I asked him what the significance is if I do not have 4, and he said none. If my cancer comes back after 3 it will come back after 4. But he said he is very comfortable with the treatments I have had and with my Onco score being low and my braca being negative, I should be fine. So hopefully I can start recovery now and maybe by Christmas my hair will start growing back.
I see him for follow up in 2 weeks and will probably start taking Tamoxifin then. Hoping to rest when I get home from work today, I am really tired.
-
Peachy: are you going to do rads? If so, Tamoxifen won't start until you are done with rads. Well, you are DONE! Amazing. My hair is growing back. My hairstylist says it only grows 1/4 inch each month. At that rate it will take forever.
-
My Rads were done in July. I had Savi catheter radiation, twice a day for 5 days in July and it was over! So now I am probably on to Tamoxifin. I hope to have half of my hair back by Summer, i'll be happy. Now starting to have something else going on, it's burning when I use the ladies room.
I hope it's not a yeast infection. UGH............
-
Peachy, this is great, congratulations on finishing chemo early. Now you really can enjoy the weekend. Good also that your onco score is low.
My weekend starts now. After radiation tomorrow I'm taking off for a getaway with some girlfriends. One of them will teach us how to knit caps -- just what I need. I'm getting tired of the ones I have. Maybe I'll get them to cut off my survivor hairs too. -
17 down - 16 to go
Peachy: I am so glad things are working out for you. Hope you don't have a yeast infection.
rossileo: Good for you! I did a weekend with the girls last weekend, and it did me a world of good. I am watching my new hair come in slowly but surely.
Hey, guys! I am using Ovation Therapy on my scalp. My aunt used it for thinning hair with wonderful results. I am hoping it will stimulate my hair to grow faster and thicker.
-
Feeling a little better today, rashes are still red but not itchy. And other area doesn't seem as bad to day. Hopefully it'll go away by itself. I hate having to call the doctor every 5 mins.
-
Hi ladies its Saturday and my good friends are over at our place and they are cooking up a storm to celebrate DH's birthday which will be on Monday. I am relaxing with the kids in front of TV watching cartoons. Life ......:)
Peachy so happy it's all over for you. Happy dance and a good celebration with your family. Time flies, it just seemed like yesterday I was diagnosed. Now I have 4 more rad boosters left and will be done next week! Ladyboss and Rossileo yours would be over soon too.
SEs from rads - very sore and itchy nipple, blackened left breast and sore black arm pit. BUT still nothing compared to chemo SEs. I am still having the horrible chemo rash!
Looking forward to holiday in Spain and Italy coming up in less than 2 weeks. Really deserve it. Just did my blood works for tumour markers and liver function. Wilst I am so looking forward to holiday I am also worried and anxious about blood results. Argghhh! -
I hope everyone here stays in touch, even when rads are over. I have scans again after rads are over. Then I start Tamoxifen. I need this support to discuss everything. I love you guys!
My rad breast has broken out in a heat rash and some freckles. It is finally starting to get dark, too. My nipple is a little sore, but not too noticeable. But like FrancesC says - it's nothing like SE's from chemo.
FrancesC: hope you enjoy your holiday!
-
Hey everyone,
Sorry I have been so busy working and all, I did not check in for a couple of days. Glad to hear that Peachy is done with the chemo and ready to start the tamoxifen. Hope you clear all those nasty SEs soon.
I am only 13 down with 17 to go, because there was a snafu with the computer that runs the software for the linear accelerator yesterday. Now my last rads will be Dec. 1. Oh well.
Not really red or itchy yet. I use the special cream they gave me after every treatment.
I love my new pixie wig (it is sandy brown/blonde highlights) and have been playing around with the others too. I think hair could grow about 1/2 an inch per month, but maybe is slower for others. I have quite a bit of dark brown fuzz with grey/white fuzz in the crown - just like before. I will keep wearing the wigs until it is long enough to color it again. Can't show my age!
Frances - great for you to have an exciting trip coming up. Will want to hear about it. Going to Italy in April. Might go to Florida around Xmas time too.
I start a new round of jewelry making classes today. More work with metal and fire! Will be learning to set stones. Also have tons of cooking and cleaning to do this weekend, plus brought work home.
Have a great weekend to all!
-
11 days out from round 3. Rashes pretty much gone, had some weird heart things go on again yesterday. Today I have a terrible sinus headache and feel so tired. I spoke to one of my customers this morning who just went through BC and it's treatments, and she told me she went through the same thing with the heart palps. She even had a heart cath done and they found nothing! Her doctor told her Chemo puts a lot of stress on the body and that is what as most likely causing the issue. She said once she learned to relax they went away. She said she'd also wake up in the middle of the night with her heart thumping funny. Same thing I get, so I felt a lot better after talking to her. Another strange thing I have is soreness under my arm where they took out 2 of my lymphnodes. Hopefully it's just from lifting or stretching from cleaning the house.
-
Peachy, it will take a while for the SE to go away. So you're doing great!
Frances, glad to get update. Hope all your blood results turn out OK so that you can go and enjoy your trip.
Had a great weekend with friends in Michigan. Learned to knit, but still not good enough to make a hat. Rads are 13 down and 20 to go. Breast is turning a little brown and freckled
and aches a little, but this is still quite tolerable. -
Hi my blood works came back great! Cancer tumor markers within range. praise the Lord! Now I can go pack for my trip happily:) will update all when I get back.
3 more boosters to go and I am so done! Starting Femara on Monday. -
Yea FrancesC!!!!! So happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
FrancesC: Yeah! Such good news. Hope you have a blast on your trip.
rossileo: glad you had a good time in Michigan. My breast is freckling pretty bad, too. Dr; gave me a powder for the heat rash.
Peachy: can't forget about you. How you feeling?
I am 20 down - 13 to go
-
Feeling better today ladyboss.
Every day seems to get a little better. Still have that weird eye twitching going on, and hearts palps once in a while, but at least not everyday like I was. Actually been sleeping pretty well too. Things are looking up!
-
Sounds like everybody is doing well. Finally, FINALLY, I am seeing peach fuzz on my head! 15 down, 18 to go. Almost half way there...
-
17 down, 13 to go! I look like Demi Moore in GI Jane. Maybe I need to get a pair of Doc Martens. I want the ones in glossy patent leather. I will look super tough!
-
23 down - 10 to go
I have alot of fuzz on my head as well. Looks like my hair is going to come back dark brown, almost black. The very top of my head is sparse, but considering that I am 5'11" - no one will see it.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am off work today for Veteran's Day.
-
Hi I just went to my hairdressers to trim off those long straggly strands and even out the entire hairdo.. I look like GI Jane too with a little long fringe. Phillybird I can join you with the Doc Martens. LOL. Rads all over ! Yeah!
-
Yeah frances! When do you leave for your vacation?
My hair also seems to be coming back on the sides first. Hope I don't end up with a monks fringe -- I am short, so everybody would be able to see the bald spot. But still at least a few weeks away if not months from baring my head to the public.
Having a long weekend because of Veterans Day. Went to see 50/50 and was able to laugh at it. Rads are 17 down 16 to go. -
Rossileo you are humorous! I am leaving on Friday 1am flight. So looking forward to this vacation. Have a great long weekend guys!
-
25 down - 8 to go!
Today I get new "markups" and one last full breast radiation. The last 7 days of radiation they are going to radiate the tumor site instead of the entire breast. My breast is very sunburned now. I am using lotion 3 times each day and bathing with antiseptic soap for the heat rash.
Almost done.
-
So glad you're almost done ladyBoss! That is awesome! I see my Onc. tomorrow morning and then my Cardiologist after that. Getting another EKG done to make sure everything is Ok with my heart. I am still getting what seems to be hives at times. One minute it's on my arm, next minute it's on my thigh or somewhere else on my body. very strange. Also still having pains below my sternum at times, guessing that is indigestion. I've been taking Malox which seems to help. 3 weeks tomorrow from my last chemo, hopefully in a few weeks my hair will start sprouting again.
-
Go ladyboss! I also got scanned for my radiation boost, but I've still got 13 to go, 8 regular and 5 boosts. My breast is speckled and quite brown and aches a bit, but otherwise not too bothersome.
Peachy, hope your SE eventually subside. I still have some neuropathy -- nothing that interferes withmfunctioning, but irritating nonetheless. Hope your hair comes in sooner than later. Mine seemed to take forever, but eight weeks out the peach fuzz is looking more like real hair.
Francis,, Bon voyage! Have a great time on your trip. -
Good check up with my Onc. this morning. Bloodwork was good, and I start taking Tamoxifen on Dec 1st. Don't need to see him again until Feb now.
Cardilolgist said my EKG was normal, and explained to me why my Onc. ordered another one since my last one at Urgent Care. Apparently my heart was taking a longer rest in between beats that day, which I was told the Taxotere can cause. So they just wanted to be sure my heartbeat was normal again since my treatments are now done. And thank God it is.
The Onc. thinks the rashes are from my nerves and from stress and said they should eventually subside too. So all in all a good day!
-
Good for you, Peachy. I am gad everything looks good.
Francis: Have a good time, and check in with us when you get back
rossilio: we are almost done!
6 more rads to go, then I start my Tamoxifen on 12/13. Been dieting to negate any weight gain the Tamoxifen may cause. I will have Ab and bone scans again some time in December. Next appt with onc is in March.
-
Bon voyage, Frances!
Still haven't gotten the Doc Martens - maybe today.
Rads are 23 down, 7 to go. Last five will be boost to tumor site. I also have lots of browning and specking going on. My shoulder is rather red, but doesn't hurt anymore. I am soooo tired all the time. But I keep on going. Busy busy busy.
Glad you are feeling much better, Peachy. I start tamoxifen on Dec. 1 too! I have to go fill the prescription today, so I don't forget.
Rossileo - you'll be the brave one if you go out with the buzz cut look in public. I think I will dye it purple first. Can always just wear wigs until it grows out.
Ladyboss - the truth on the tamox and weight gain is that there really is no difference - it is not really the tamoxifen, it is the fact that you're going through a sort of menopause. If you are an exerciser and sensible eater, you'll be fine. If you are a couch potato, you'll struggle with the typical weight gain for women who go through menopause. Your choice!
-
Definitely going to join the gym, walk and eat better then I usually do. I had lost 26 Lbs before I found out I had BC. And plan on continuing the weight loss battle ASAP. I gained 10 of it back while going through my treatments over the past 6 months. But I feel positive that I can lose the weight I want to and be healthy again.
PhillyBird, let me know how you make out after you start taking the Tamoxifen. My Onc. gave me 20MG, and a friend of mine told me she had no SE's from it whatsoever. So crossing my fingers it all works out Ok.
Staying positive!!! Have a great weekend guys!!! and enjoy your Thanksgiving! I definitely have a lot to be thankful for this year.
