I agree, CANCER SUCKS!! Prayers are and have been going up for Nickie.

I hope everyone deals with crankiness (is that how you spell it?) and ends up in their normal OK place. I am in a non-cranky place as this is my final huzzah until getting up at o'dark thirty for the ride to the airport.

Hugs to all and you are all in my thoughts. I will try to post pix, though I think I can't copy from FB to BCO on my iPad.  If someone knows how to do that, tell me!! Those who are on FB, friend me then you can see the pix.

    Love to all and aaaahhhhhh!

Are any of you north-easterners digging out after the great October snowstorm?  Hope everyone has power.

It's a gorgeous fall day here -- not to rub it in.......our time will comeFrown

Southern Ontario -- just up the road (and river) from Niagara Falls!  We're in a little microclimate between the Niagara escarpment and Lake Ontario.  Makes for a lovely wine-producing and soft fruit growing area.  But...alas....we do get snow!

Barbara - happy cruising - please throw ALL your worries into the Ocean - and any extras of ours you can fit into your pockets Wink

SNOW - anybody wanna talk about SNOW.  From the hills of western ma - about 2 feet of the lovely fluffy white stuff - with gorgeous Fall colored leavs still on the trees.  And boy, were we lucky in my little town  Because of the elevation ( that's why it's called the Hilltowns) - we got a LOT of white powdery snow, a lot - but every other town got HEAVY wet HEAVY snow - so trees are town everywhere but here.  The valley of MA, the north of CT - no power.  Newspapers ( NY Times, Boston Globe, etc) printed around here couldn't print.  No radio, and it's supposed to go down into the 20's tonight.  We never lost our electricity.  Flickered a few times last night, but never went off. SO, I have heat, and water.  It's probably difficult for "city folk" to think about the water part - but with no electricity, anyone on well water can't use the PUMP needed to get the water into the pipes.

SO - it's gorgeous, sunny, blue sky, and 2 feet of snow on October 30.  Bizarre is the only word which comes to mind right now.

    Happy Halloween.

Bizarre (meaning unusual, out-of-season or extreme) weather that we've experienced over the last few years is the clearest sign of climate change starting to affect our daily lives.  And yet many folks tend to think weather and climate are the same thing.  I heard some no-nothing idiot TV announcer claim that this snowstorm is a perfect (huh?) example that climate change is a hoax.  Do some reading up on climate vs weather, bud!

Sun -- so glad you haven't lost power, but gosh 2 feet of the fluffy stuff is about 23 inches too much!  It's going to take awhile to melt -- fall run-off anyone?

I think initially calling it "global warming" was a mistake. It should have been called "climate change". The ignorant, and the people who just don't want to admit it's happening, look out their windows and see snow, and say, "See? There's no global warming out there! It's snowing in October."

Barb-you may have already left on your cruise, but have a great time!

Gee, I can see the beauty of the snow fall in my eyes.....but way too early as far as I'm concerned. I am so happy it by passed us as it went east. I'd love to keep the snow at bay because the sooner it falls the longer the dang winter is.I do love a fresh snow fall on Christmas Eve. How's that? Can you tell I'm a warm weather lover? So what am I doing in Wisconsin? Kids!!

Linda...It's beautiful where you are. I loved, loved, loved our trip there a few years ago. We had a blast at ALL the winery's along the shore. They went on forever and so did we. Wink

Sun..good weather for painting. Did two small 8 X 10's yesterday and today. I like to see the finished product..FAST.

Linda and Mary, if they agree with the climate change then it will affect their bottom line.   Can't let  the planet get in the way of making $$$$$$$$$$$$!  A$$es.

Mary, why am I not surprised.  Maybe those hard nosed "I don't give a shit about the repercussions as long as I get to do what I want" should listen to this.  Very powerful!  When will they learn.

Jim had a few choice words too, but he was a dirty flea bitten hippie and Micheal was a weirdo.  NOT!

What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down

I guess all the enlightened ones are/were on the left.

Hahahahaha, enjoyful, you were a little more direct in your quote!  I totally agree with you.

On a lighter note, I went wedding dress shopping with my two girls today.  My DD looked like a princess no matter what she tried on.  I will post some pics that my other daughter took when she emails them to me.

So did she find a dress or is this just the beginning of the great dress hunt?  And then Mom has to find a dress too!

If we can just go back to grumping for a little minute ... we got frost last night and it killed off my tomato plants.  I know those dealing with 2 feet of snow are not going to be sympathetic ... but darn we usually make it another couple of weeks.

Wonder if trick or treaters will be inspired to dress up as snowmen this year?

Hi Girls - we're back - plane was an hour late but we got home in time to liberate Poppy.

It was WAY TOO HOT up there - really humid, all I did was sweat. I would like to go back up there in Winter some time. The party for the 90 year old lady went well. She looks really well compared to when she lived down here. They were staying at a Sheraton resort - too opulent in my mind and too far out of town. The unit we got in the main street of town was fantastic and way way cheaper.

Went to the Port Douglas markets on Sunday morning with the old lady and her daughter in law and got a lovely glass cheese platter - fused, slumped thing which I want to go and learn how to do. Saw some gorgeous art work - a bit too pricy but lovely to see such nice things.

We went for a long drive up to Cape Tribulation on Saturday an hour or so north of where we were. There were actually idiots swimming at the beach that had a sign saying no swimming - crocodiles!!! It's also stinger season up there where you can be killed by box jelly fish - some people are really stupid.

DH got a game of golf in at a resort course - no one else playing - way too hot.

I got a bit pissed one night and told DH about the ultra sound of the axilla the bs requested. He was quite cross but seems to be over it now - whatever. I told him if he wasn't so mental about that sort of thing, I would tell him when it happens not hide it from him. I get the thyroid biopsy result on Wednesday afternoon.

Anyway, enough of me - I missed you all.

    Sue

WR, This is just the first of our wedding dress appointments.  I have a couple of pics from my oldest daughter's wedding.  The dress I chose for her wedding was very, how do I explain it.  Take a look.  This is my lawyer DD.  She wore my veil!

And this is my youngest, for whom we are looking now.  The date is set for September 2012.

Not bad for a PD patient who was in the middle of radiation treatment, if I do say so myself.  Ok, Ok so my complexion was a bit pasty.Oh yeah, AND a flea bitten hippie!
