    Hi everyone

JMULL -my ONC sd the redness on my hands was actually an after effect of the AC -I didn't get it on Taxol #2...

Summergirl -so sorry about your uncleCry

A wise woman who is a 20+ year survivor said to me you're not sick because of bc, unfortunately you need to get sick to get better...I don't consider myself sick, but when I don't have make-up, earrings or my wig on, boy do I look sick!

As far as hair, if you don't mind me asking, was your hair white or gray before the chemo??  I never lost all my hair, I have little wisps standing straight up about 1/2 inch long all over

I bought that spray deodorant (forgot the name, too lazy to get up) and I am not crazy about it --I heard Arm and Hammer is good, gonna try that next.  But until I do, I have been more than happy powdering up the pits like a baby's bottom Tongue out

On a more stressful note, the nights here in NY are getting cold but I have not caved and put the heat on yet!! Want to preserve that tank of oil for as long as possible!

TATA for now and have a great night  !

HI ALL, for any of you facebook addicts like me LOL, just wanted to let you know I have started a private group called (fighters) and if anyone would like me to add them just let me know your FB name , The reason I started it is because I spend a lot of time on FB and find I cannot write things Im feeling on my page for fear of upsetting my kids and family and in this way by having a closed group were only members can see the posts we can vent and say whatever,we like . Im not saying I wont be on here as this group is awesome, I just sometimes need to chat to someone when Im having a rough time to help get me through and with the time difference here I find sometimes its the next day before I hear back from someone ,(plus Im impatient) LOL , Wink

Add me in, Summergirl! I really only use fb to get some idea that my daughter is alive and well at college! But, I will be happy to join a "fighter" group!

Michelle- I've been wondering about my hair as well. I never could bring myself to shave it, but it has gotten super thin in sad wisps, so I am bound to have an uneven thing going on when the new stuff comes in.I'm thinking that I will even it up when I see enough hair coming in? Nothing so far, but I'm not even 3 weeks out-which is when I was told hair would begin to grow!

So, starting RADs and re-opening my store at the same time! Do I know how to have fun or what?  But, this beautiful space opened up ( a little river actually runs under the store! I will have the sound of running water filling the shop - like a built in fountain!) And, here I go. I am glad that I had my chemo time off. But, I am ready to get back in the saddle! Tomorrow is mapping/simulation and whatever else they throw at me day! Dfiance has been ill for the past 2 days:( I think this has all been stressful for him, too. And now that I am functioning, he let down his guard maybe, because he is NEVER sick . Of course, I am hoping like crazy that I don't get it! No delays in treatment, please. If all goes well, I will be fini by the middle of Dec.

Allformy4, the deodorant I use is made by "Tom's of Maine". I bought it in the natural products section of my supermarket. I find it works just as well as my Mitchum anti-perspirant.

I coloured my hair before starting treatment as I had a lot of white roots!  I imagine it will be gray when it grows back.Frown

Carol, thanks for setting up that Facebook group. Great idea!

It's supposed to go below freezing tonight here in Southern Ontario and they've actually used the S word in the forecast. I am so not ready for that!

I'm going in to work today for a visit and to go for lunch with some friends. Looking forward to the social contact!

Ellen, your store sounds beautiful. If I ever get to Vermont again I'll have to drop in! What part of Vermont are you in? It's such a beautiful state. I've been there once in winter and twice in summer...although I think I prefer summer.

Hello ladies - I am off to my last Chemo today at 10:30am CST. I am so excited I could barely sleep last night, and that was after taking all of my pre-meds and lorazipam. Cool

summergirl - Please add Friend me on FB. Like you have not made it public. And family and friends have been instructed not to put it out there. My FB name is Melissa Lewis Williams.

Will check back in during and/or after my treatment.

    Take care

Hello August Angels! If I haven't told you lately, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! Even if I don't post often, you are always in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Can't remember who was having eye tearing problems, but so was I. I went to the eye Dr. and she told me to get artificial tear drops.....haven't had a problem since and that was about a month ago.

Allformy4 -I use Arm & Hammer and it's great. I caught them on sale @ Kmart for $1 and DH bought about 20 of them for me....lol.

Missey - I don't feel sick because I have bc, I feel sick after chemo, when the drugs are doing their job!

I'm 8 days out from 3rd of 4 Taxol - other than the bone pain, which subsided on Tuesday, I feel great. I'm so glad that in exactly 7 days I will be done with the chemo crap!

Have an awesome S/E free day ladies....smooches!

Ellen - I'm SO excited that you're going to reopen! I'll make a trip up to see it as soon as you're open!

I never shaved my head either, and have maybe 5-10% of it left it little wisps and tufts. I'm day 13 PFC, and can feel some stubble in some spots around the edge where I did shave/trim so it wouldn't stick out of my wig. Makes me hopeful! But at this point after the 1st treatment it hadn't started to fall out yet, so maybe I'm being too optimistic.

Rain and snow mix at the moment in southern Vermont. I met my boss for lunch and drove 35 miles in it. Ick. Not looking forward to winter!

    Waving hello to everyone!

Yvette (Ybrooker1): Happy Belated Birthday! I haven't been around here, but saw that your birthday just passed. I hope it was wonderful!

    Robyn: Congrats on the Puppy!

I hope everyone is doing well!  It's been 4 weeks since my last Adriamyacin and I am STILL having the throat and stomach issues.  I have an Endoscopy procedure on Monday and then in the same building go for my 2nd mapping at 1pm. What a day Halloween will be. I start radiation next Tuesday, 11/1.

Also, my breast is having 'pangs' and seems a tiny bit swollen -- so I'm getting that checked before my 1st radiation treatment at 1:30.  It seems to be never ending with me. Although the NP said that your breast could have pangs and twinges up to a year.

I also got bit by the neighbors dog yesterday -- on the BC side arm. I called my Onc and he prescribed Keflex antibiotics for 10 days. It seems to be ok though. Had to file a complaint with the police today as this is the 3rd or 4th time the dog gets out.

I started back to work yesterday after being out several months, but I can work part-time (per my RO) if I get fatigued due to the radiation up until January 1, 2012.  So, I'm taking it day by day. It's weird to be back after so many months.

Also, I'm selling jewelry part time with Stella & Dot to take my mind off of this BC -stuff  (lots of celebs are wearing this stuff and they have little girls and tween pieces too. They were just featured on Good Morning America yesterday) -- so if anyone needs to shop for the holidays, please PM me for my website address.  Kiss

Take care everyone -- Hugs and Kisses to all!! xoxox, Crystal

Hi ladies! I got home about 4pm. My doctor's office gives out certificates for the last treatment. I forgot to get it. Will pick it up tomorrow for my shot. I'm doing just fine. Tomorrow evening willl start the fatigue.

I had a lot of questions for the doctor. Like: Why is the radiation 3 weeks after chemo? because the chemo interferes with the radiation. Why hormone treatment? Because ER/PR + and HER-. THe adrenal glands create estrogen and the meds will counteract that. What is the hormonal therapy i will be taking? First he said Tamoxifen, but I said isn't it for women with ovaries, and he said yes. So I will be taking something starting with an "a", I think it is called arimadex. What are the side effects? hot flashes & bone loss. I will have to take a bone density test to get a baseline. What I can do to counteract these S/Es? Exercise and take 1500 mg of calcium. Eating a balanced diet will help as well. OK to eat soy sauce. Yeah, because I love all types of asian food. I showed him my nails and asked will they fall off. He said no. They will be fine. Finally asked what stage I truly was and if I had clean margins? Also, if/when I am in remission. He said I am a Stage 2 with clean margins. Also, remission started with the lump removal. Glad to get the confirmation re: the stage and the info re: margins and remission.

I will make an appointment with the radiology oncologist tomorrow for next week. Then I will find out when and how long I will have for Rads treatment.

The way I see it I am half way done. Down with the surgery and chemo and on to radiation and hormone treatments.

I really appreciate everyone on this board and I hope everyone is having minimal SE's today.

    Take care

    Melissa

Wow, this has been a big day for so many--congratulations and love to Missey and Ellen!  Ellen, I may never get to Vermont, but when I'm doing my relaxing meditations, your store sounds like a beautiful place to picture: a running stream is the one thing my property here in the Rocky Mountains is missing! Chrys--when it rains it pours, huh?  A dog bite?!  Please keep posting us and updating us--I suspect that many of us will continue to have SE long after our last infusion (although you seem to have gotten far more than your share!).

I'm also a big fan of Burt's Bees--nice scents, no parabens and no skin reactions.  I really like the lip balms, energizing body wash and the coconut-scented foot rub. I like the Alba products as well, although some "fragrance free" products are stinkier to me than ones with natural perfumes.

I'm off to #5 of 6 tomorrow morning.  Wish me luck!  Blessings to all!

Missey (and others going on hormone blockers)--you should talk to your onc about the new research on the benefits of taking an osteoporosis medication like Actonel or Prolia while you're on the hormone blockers (there are a number of articles on the breastcancer.org site--just search for hormone blockers and bone loss).  Because I've had osteopenia since I was 40 (a family trait), I had been on Actonel for 3 years before my bc diagnosis.  My onc told me to definitely keep taking the Actonel during chemo/rads. In his words, "it can't hurt and we think it might help."  My bone density has improved on Actonel and, I think, from the fairly serious weight lifting I've been doing for the last couple years.

I broke a tooth tonight, does anyone know if it's ok to go to the denist during chemo?  Weird question I know, but everything is different now.  Half my tooth just came away, I wasn't even eating anything hard, soft baked potato!  Very frustrating. I really don't fancy a root canal and cap just right now.

Grimbol. I was told no dental work while on chemo , but I dont know if thats correct, I also had a bit of my filing come out and its so annoying it keeps cutting my tongue, I will ask the Onc nurse on my next visit , good luck

Debinutah, good luck on # 5 "nearly there yahoo", ny next is also #5 but wont be till nov 10th , I cant believe how quick this has gone for me,

I asked my ONC about going to the dentist and she said to avoid it if possible so as to avoid the possibility of introducing any infection. She did say, however, that if I really needed to get work done I could go to the dentist but I had to tell the dentist I was doing chemo.

Grimbol: I had dental work done while on chemo, Had 5 teeth pulled, they like to do it ONLY once your white cell counf it UP and a day or 2 before your chemo... BUT you have to see an ONCO dentist, they have them in the cancer clinics, Well here in Canada they do, Just ask your onco

Oh right, thanks.  The onco said we would have to have the dentist consult with the onco before considering tx.  It doesn't hurt fortunately so maybe it will be ok for a bit.  I finish chemo in 4 weeks, yay!!!  just 2 more to go.

Hi everyone, it's been a while since I posted. Congrats to everyone who has finished or is finishing chemo. My last one is on Halloween! Great present. I need to schedule a mapping and simulation with rads dr.

Summergirl, very good idea about fb page! Not moderated. It will be good to keep in touch and talk candidly!

I have had numbness and tingling in my fingers since the last taxol.

I went to Mt. Marie, South Paris, Maine yesterday and found a lot of quartz crystals. Tourmaline and lepidolite. It was so much fun. Digging through the dirt. It was one of the best days since my BC diagnosis!

    Love and hugs

    Hope minimal side effects!

Hey Ybrooker- I'm still checking in! Things have definitely gotten quiet here, what gives?

Thanks for all of the well wishes for my new store. I'm hoping that I haven't bitten off more then I can chew. I still feel pretty beat, and I'm afraid that my creative juices might not be flowing as smoothly as they used to be. But, now that i've gone and jumped into it- I'm plugging along. How are you feeling, Robyn? Oh, I haven't congratulated you on your new pup, yet? Boy or girl?

Anyone else finished up? How is everyone feeling?

Hi all, it's been quite a while since I posted last. It seems many of you have finished chemo and are on to rads. Congratulations! I can't wait to ring that bell, but my last tx isn't until January 6. I had my second of 12 weekly Taxol tx on Friday. So far I'm tolerating it well compared to AC. I have a backache and I'm tired but my appetite is better. It took nearly 3 weeks after my last AC to recover. I didn't leave the house for 2 weeks because I felt terrible. I could hardly eat or drink anything and I cried EVERY day. Most of my brows and lashes are gone and I just plain look sick. On top of that, I developed blisters on my legs and feet which quickly became wounds. I'm a paraplegic so it is difficult enough to heal without the low blood counts. Needless to say I've been pretty down. Since changing to Taxol I do feel better and even made it out to a fundraiser for the pug rescue group that I work with this weekend. Nothing like 100+ pugs dressed in silly costumes to cheer a girl up! I'm hoping that I can keep a more positive attitude and finish up this crappy chemo and move on to rads.

I have read all of your posts but I didn't make notes so that I could comment to each of you like I want to. I hope you're all doing well with your tx and have no SEs. Thanks for allowing me to vent.
