Do you get copies of your blood work?

I have been having blood work for 3 years now, the last time I went the Dr. Said she wanted to see me back for a repeat of my blood work because something was "worrisome" to her. Something about by calcium levels? This was the end of July. So I go back tomorrow For blood work.

I was just wondering if any of you girls get copies of your blood work? I was thinking of asking and maybe try and do some comparison checks. Do some snoop dogging on my lab work.

I always ask for copies...always. It keeps me in tune with what "normal" for me is. They should have absolutely no problem faxing it to you, or sending home with you.

Yes, I have the labwork done always one week prior to seeing my Onc. Always on Monday. On Thursday I always just go to the desk or sometimes call and tell them I'd like a copy of my lab results. They always have it ready when I get there. I study them very thoroughly and always ask about variations from test to test.

I always get copies of all labwork and tests done. I have a binder with tabs and everything is filed according to date.  That way everything is in one spot and easy to compare.  I always have CD's of all MUGA's and CT/Bone scans as well.  The techs are great and get them ready while I wait so I don't have to come back.

Yes, always.  I ask for copies of all reports.  Pathology, Surgery, Therapy, Labs, Imaging...anything that produces a report.

    Ditto.....

I keep copies in a binder of everything......tab for labs, tab for scans, tab for doctor's visit report.

I also keep copies of articles that I might want to talk to the doctor about.  I find that I know my bloodwork trends better than my doctor does!

Yup, I always get copies while I am there.  Although lately I forget about them and they sit in my purse for a few months, hehe.

Me too. I have an e-mail set up through my medical insurance. My labs are automatically sent to my e-mail. It's really convenient and I am able to compare changes from previously charted labs. It works out great. Maybe your plan offers this.

Hi there, I am pedantic about details like this and get copies of all blood work, and copies of all CT/PET or MRI reports and their accompanying CD's.. I save them in a file with file folders for each item.  I like being able to compare the results . You're not going to believe this, but I also ask for copies of all doctors notes.  I like reading what they put in their own files.  I feel like I paid for them so I should be able to have copies. My doctors have always provided them without question. good luck to you !!.

I'm another report hoarder! I have found things in reports that were wrong and that the doctors "forgot" to mention. I like to google it all and find out what they are saying about me! This summer I got my bloodwork before the oncologist and when I went to him he walks in with a med. student and tells me my labs were good. My triglicerides were high, liver enzymes doubled in 6 months, and glucose was a little high. We had a whole debate about Tamoxifen causing these side effects! I would have never known if I didn't follow my labs.

Hallsnj5. Why would the Dr. Say your labs look fine? Did he not compare from the previous blood work? I hope you brought it to his attention!

    Hope everything is good now.

at check in for onc appt, if you want labs sent to you, they have you address an envelope....the only way they give labs if all is okay....of course if a problem, they would be calling you first...they used to always call with results, but I prefer to get the complete copy....and I have tracked some of the labs.....I was on 3 month visits till last February then went to 6 month visits.....

I find myself obscessing over the numbers so I stopped getting reports, but I think I will start again. What if they do miss something? When do they tell you someting is off? At the start of the trend or when it goes over the limit? I think I want to know right away. Thats it. I am getting my copies nest week, hope I don't freak.
