Hair Hair Hair - Another question

Dawn, I'm so sorry, and I know exactly how you feel.  My mother didn't leave me feeling abandoned, but my relationships have transformed during this process, and it has been so intense.

YaYa5, I was raised to put my needs on the back burner in favor of others. The hardest lesson for me has been this new idea of "putting myself first".  I still just don't get it.  Doesn't life work better when we are kind and generous? 

I think the hardest lesson for me was many people are putting themselves first, and their relationship to my illness was a reflection of their needs and concerns, not mine.  So I've shifted things around, learned to love some folks more, and some have been relegated to the "was nice to know you, thanks for the memories" category.

To be frank, I never bought the "can't deal with it".  The essence of being human is having more brain capacity and flexibility.

Deb, mine cycled for a year, and honestly, I"m pretty sure they aren't all the way done yet...it's normal.  Brow shadow is my new best friend.  Eyelashes are still ridiculous looking, very stubby.

  I went to my class reunion Saturday night with my 1/4 inch of hair and got so many compliments. No one asked if I had cancer-they just assumed it was a fashion choice. I have worn my hair many styles thru the years-including some pretty short ones-but never this short. It was a mulit-year reunion-my 35th.

   I told my friends cancer was not to be brought up and they weren't to tell anyone-so the compliments felt pretty real. I ditched the wigs weeks ago-they just made me so twitchy.

When I was very sick, very bald, and in the hospital - one night, I couldn't sleep and a nurse peeked her head in at me then came in when she saw I was awake.  I remember her saying "look at you, you're just a baby..." (I was 47!), and then she leaned close and said "I'm not really supposed to get into this with the patients, but I want you to know that it will be ok...I was right where you are now, 3 years ago and here I am now, with my hair and my life back..."

Then she left and came back with a little cup of icecream for me which I finished off and then went to sleep. LOL it was like a dream...I felt like I was 5 yrs old, but I think of her oftern and am thankful that she told me that.

Kym - you look amazing!  I am 3 1/2 months PFC and have almost the same amount - I just don't have the courage to go topless!  I need just a little bangs or something to hide behind!

I"m losing eyelashes now, but I can see the new ones coming in already, too. Blech. 

Kymn so great to hear from you and see that smile on your face!  You are beautiful!  I am 4 months pfc and you are ahead of me.  You look great!  I hope things are looking up for you.

Hi all, my hair never grew back after I finsihed chemo last year. This is the second time in my life going thru chemo. First bout was when I was 20 yo for hodgekins. Could it be that my follicles are damaged? I have tried everything. Prednisone foam, all types of oils ie rosemary, castor oil, emu oil, etc.. I just orderd Thymuskin because I heard it helps with hair regrowth for chemo patients.

Has this happened to anyone else? My doctors are stumped as to why my hair has not grown back and frankly, so am I.
