    Hi,

    I thought I would just add my latest developments- even though I don't get on here very often-I kind of want to share my not so good news. My breast cancer has come back as skin secondaries not far from my mastectomy scar line. Had surgery last week- looks like someone has carved their initials in my side. Start carbaplatin and gemcitaine in a weeks time. I have googled skin metastasis/secondaries but can't find much info. If anyone has come across any information could you let me know. The Doc's are calling it stage 4, I prefer to think of it as stage 3 d (just adding a new sub group to the usual classification system).

    A friend of mine a few years ago told me that her Doc missed her recurrence when 'it' came back near her scar line- so as soon as I saw these spots I knew to make sure that I got them biopsied. The Docs were sure that it was something and nothing. So I am glad I persevered.

    Other than that I feel great- just a bit tired. I took 10 months off work last time, but this time I am hoping to work from home and just go into work when I want to. I teach nursing and am very well looked after at the University that I work at- so I am lucky in that respect.

    Looking forward to being able to share news of good progress with you over the next few months.

    Oh Natalie. That does bite the big one! You will get through this. Before they diagnosed this as mets, did they do the testing to see if it had the same markers (ER/PR/HER2) as the original BC?

    I have Stage IV, and have been NED for 17 months! I'm sorry you have to go through this though!!!

    Well my sisters, today is my cancerversary! I was diagnosed 10-19-09. I celebrated by seeing the president (pics to come soon, some are on FB) I have been cancer free for 17 out of 24 months!!

    If one good thing has come out of this, it's my Global Sisters. Thank you so much for becomming part of my life! I love you all dearly!

    Do you mean, The Prez?  Way cool.  My husband met George Bush when we lived in CO.  Kinda cool.  He even got  a Xmas card/photo from him.  I'm sure it was just his stamp-signature.

    Hey Linda - you're famous!!!!

    Well girls - some crazy stuff going on. The bs examined me yesterday and can feel an enlarged lymph node on the left side - but it feels soft. Now she wants me to have another ultrasound of the left axilla. I called the breast clinic to check if they do that area and they do, but the doctor I spoke to said the bs's often send people back for another look. I won't be going there again as it's too far from home but can do it locally. I'm not worried too much as soft is good and you would think they would have noted it when I had the original done. She also wants me to get my goitre biopsied as it's grown - the likelihood of it being thyroid cancer is quite remote, still it's not nice to have to go and do it. And on top of all that I'm trying to keep it from Steve as he will freak out. HELP!!!

    Had a good visit with big onc yesterday - he said do as I'm told and not to tell Steve (he knows him too well).

    Oh Natalie, I'm so sorry you are having to go through this.  It sounds like you and the docs are on top of it, but hang in there.  Sending up prayers for you!!!

     And for you, Sue!!  At least all this happened after the trip!  

    Linda:  Yep...you the new Rock Star!! 

    All's well with me.  Been substituting at school a lot, which is totally exhausting, but I do so love being in the classroom with the kids.  It seems I tire more easily now, or is it just my age??!!  And just celebrated 33 of marriage.  Doesn't seem that long, but I guess that's a good sign!  DD just home for fall break.  DS doing exceptionally well so far in his senior year.  He and DH will be applying early application for colleges this weekend. 

     Been thinking of Florida chickens, Canadian weather, broke legs, reconstructions, previously bald heads, and spring time (?) in Australia.

    Sorry my pic is so huge. No, I'm not obnoxious :), I just don't know how to downsize. Yes, it's an event that I'll never forget!

    Hi Girls!! I had the axilla ultrasound this afternoon and the girl said she couldn't see anything!!! I did end up telling Steve about the goitre biopsy - used the excuse I wasn't going to have it but changed my mind - he is absorbed with his own problems at the moment so it went down well. Doing the biopsy tomorrow, then we fly up to Cairns on Friday for a long weekend in Port Douglas for one of Steve's client's 90th birthday party.

    Pink-tober, still hate it!!!    Flashback of memories not so wonderful.

    Today for me marks 2 years since my first Chemo. So, I'm writing this my sisters.

    I remember all the surgeries I went thru from August till this day of October when all was either a trick or a treat. Mostly tricks on how to survive Breast Cancer. I have made it. for me it is over!!! If ever I have to go through this again, I surely want my Warrior Sisters by my side, BUT while I am still in the Clear, I don't like to much be on the site anymore, for me too many not good memories as well I get worrying and my brain thinks that I may have something again.

    (except for you my sisters, I'll always love & cherish our time and conversations, good or bad, happy or sad for the rest of my life. I will never forget any of you, nor Pinktober),

    I was saddened by reading Natalie's Post and it made me cry.Then I see Sue talking about the axillary ultrasound and it made me cry out, I know how much I was in pain after my test was positive and so had to have another surgery, The Axillary Dissection of 24 Nodes, my arm has never been the same and prob never will. I will hold you in my hearts and pray all will be OK for the both of you. And Linda I pray you too can stay -C- Free.

    Sisters, please know I do read and think of you often, I just want to forget those days.

    Hey girls - I read the ultrasound report before we left for our mini break - all clear!!!! Silly surgeon didn't think about the MRI I had which would show any suspicious lymph nodes - she put me through all that for nothing. I get the goitre biopsy result on Wednesday.

    We've missed you Brenda - hope your peeps are all doing well!!!

    Linda ~ so glad to hear you are all clear and I hope you stay there for decades.  Love the picture of the President very cool.   

    Brenda, I am with you glad to see PINK -tober be over.  I was diagnosed in August, had double mastectomy in September and chemo and bald in October 2 years ago.  I am thankful for each day and hoping for many many more.

    Life has been crazy, I am still nursing the broken leg.  (thank you chemo and tamoxifen it seems)  bone is not healing fast.  I am in an immobolizer boot now, and drive a little bit it is big and cumbersome so I have to be careful.  Finally after 8 weeks in the cast and now 2 weeks in the boot I can bear weight in the boot so trying to get my leg back so I can walk soon without crutches.  This has not been a fun time for me.  Very depressed and my house is a mess.

    Alicia--Do you (or dr.s) think the meds slow down the healing process? I know the Tamoxifen is killing my ankle, knee, and hip joints! Ouch...
