I just want to thank all of you for your support and encouragement. I love you girls!
-
thanks, luvrving, but it didn't work. stupid google chrome!
-
sweetbean.. .went to your team page... which one are you? Great job!!
-
I'm right with you sweetbean, I have tried every way I can possibly come up with to post a pic and I get nothing - continue to try when I have the patience to fail!
-
ok, ladies, so... im tired of hearing drs opinions, bla blah blah..mine, not anyone elses here.. i've cked out all the results i can; and so, one last try with you guys...
im going back to using the biotinsuplemnts, and shampoo. i'm not ready to just "give up" on my poor follicles!!! my endo doesn't agree with it; ..he also doesn't believe in Vit D., and my neuro swears by it.. so, even though the hyothyroid issue hasn't really been adressed, im going for it, again, with my hair..
its so emotionlly packed for me, to sit back, and watch it go without a fight!!! im not gonna accept its permanent yet..I DID get lots back; after chemo, till the thyroid crapped out.. so, now that its down, im off again! seems like the right thing to do. if the chem didn't kill me, or the follicles, im gonna try again. you've kept me encouraged this whole time, while i waited for some info from the docs, but they can't even agree with each other PIAS.. so, im gonna stick to vitamins, and pray really hard for some hair on the top!!!( i still have long hair in the back) so,,, here we go again!seeing you all hang in has encouraged me to plow in again..thanks.....3jays...so, i'll post a pic from the start....we'll see how it goes....3jays
-
3jaysmom-hang in there darling, you have been so brave in dealing with this, don't give up.
Fortunantly I've been very lucky. Hair is everywhere, very short and can still see scalp but covering up pretty quickly. 9wks pfc
-
3jaysmom, have you consulted with a reputable hair loss specialist (not MD)?
-
nope, not yet. want to see if it changes after we get the hypothyroid taken care of. thats' why im gonna use the shampoo.. to stop the DHT hair loss. till it gets better, nonone will be able to do a thing... im having ENOUGH trouble with the mds!hahaha.....3jays

Hi ladies, I'm a month PFC and my hair is about half and inch long. Most of it is white fuzz but some is brown. I'd love to use a color on the fuzz but I'm afraid to turn it red or orange. Any advice?
Thanks,
Diana -
Diana, I am going to get mine colored next Wednesday at the salon. I am 13 wks PFC and still have an inch of salt and pepper. I just think I'll feel better with a good color. And then topless time!!!
At least I think I can do it!! Hopefully the color will be OK.

Sweetcorn, I'm about the same time out as you (14 weeks), and also have about an inch of hair. I talked to an old highschool friend the other day, and she told me to come in to her shop and she'd "clean it up" a little, but that I don't want to cut any of the length...at some point, I'm going to have to live through the regrowth, so just get it over with! I am pleasantly shocked that I came back blonde, though! Darker blonde than before, actually dirty-dishwater or possibly even a very light brown, but not gray or silver! Yippee!!!
-
Okay, I think my son has helped me figure this posting pic thing out so I'm trying to start at the beginning before chemo of my first short, short haircut - forgive me if they're big, trying to have them small but we'll see.
-
Trying to finally post some pics but don't have the dementions right yet so you might see a few deleted posts first - starting with the short short haircut before chemo started.
-
now i'm going to try two or more pics - the first one was taken about january this year
These will be mid to late February after chemo started when hair started to thin and then when we shaved it off.
-
Sorry I'm posting so many at one time, but I'm so proud I finally can do it - I have no shame, so I've been wanting to post a pic for so long.
These are in early July at our oldest son's wedding - no wig before or after the wedding, but show one while wearing that stupid wig! It's funny that I was so self conscious about wearing the wig because I think it looks real but I have no problem with that goofy bald head showing.

-
Sorry, picture is so big. Finally figured out how to post a pic. 38 weeks. Lotsa curls!!
-
Today must be our lucky day for learning how to post pics! Love the curls! Mine's not that long yet but really curly - have to wait for my mom to forward some recent pics because she's the one that takes pics every time she drives up for my Herceptin.
-
achpurple - It must be, and thank you....:)
Wish everyone would post some pics. I know when I finished chemo, I always looked on here for pictures to encourage me!
-
Wow! Everyone's hair looks great! The back of mine is growing much faster than the top and is beginning to curl now-don't know what I'll do with that because my hair is not normally curly. It's at a very awkward stage and is extremely frizzy/fuzzy all over and nothing seems to calm it down. It seems that the frizz is actually the ends beginning to curl. I look like some kind of cross between a brillo pad and carpet-Yikes! I don't care though because I'm so happy to have hair again.
I was visiting my best friend over the weekend and as best friends do, she told me the truth:) She saw all that light baby fuzz on my cheeks and said "that has to go!" I had not known what to do with it because I was afraid to shave my face. Well, she showed me this thing called a "Clio" which is a small personal trimming device (size of a pen, uses a AAA battery) that you can buy at Target, Walgreens, Ulta, etc. It's amazing. It's like a tiny version of clippers and just buzzes the fuzz right off without actually shaving right to the skin-perfect! Just had to share... -
ok I have all that fuzz on my face too, but I am so afraid to do anything with it! Im just so scared it will grow back awful!
I still have not figured out how to post pics. So I will just change my avitar! I am now 13 1/2 weeks pfc. I still cannot go topless!

Girls trying to post pics, you can not take them from your computer, you can only do that with your avatar. The pictures can be from Picasa, Photobucket, Facebook, etc. They have to be live on the internet. Also, from what I understand, if you are using Firefox, it will not work either. You have to be in IE (Internet Explorer)
I will be happy to post any pictures for anyone. Just PM me and I will give you my email to send the pictures that way.
P.S. I am 3 years PFC

Hey PSU222, Have a well balanced and proper diet as fruits and vegetables provide all the nutrients required by the body for hair growth after chemotherapy.
Try keeping any kind of stress away from your mind. Meditation and yoga exercises can help relax your mind and body. Avoid dyeing and excessive brushing of your hair & use a brush with soft bristles. Avoid using nylon pillows during sleeping time as they can be harmful to new hair growth. After chemotherapy, hair follicles of the scalp are damaged. Using a special desgined hair care product for cancer patients can help encourage hair growth and also heal scarred skin.
My aunt is using Evolife products from last few months and has used there evoskin and evomucy for her skin and oral care problems and the products works very well for her. All of their products have natural ingredients and are chemical free. They have a hair care product called Evocapil Hydrating Spray which is chemical and alcohol free and helps hydrates hair follicles and promote faster hair growth and as well as encourages new hair growth. Even recently, My aunt has gifted Evolife Gift Pack to one of her friend who is undergoing chemo.
I hope this helps.
With lots of hugs and kisses...Nichole.

Hey Ladies,
I have a question, I finished Chemo about 2 weeks ago and hubby is insisting that we go on vacation end of March, do you think I'll have enough hair for at least a short pixie cut? I really really don't want to go on vacation with my wig.
-
Mscrimmon You should have a reasonable amount of hair because you'll be about 6 months PFC at that point. I'm 4 1/2 months PFC now and the hair is growing very steadily week by week. I certainly don't have enough hair for a style yet but it looks fine to go without a wig. I no longer get looks with my hair at this length-it looks more intentional. So, I would say you'll have enough hair in 6 months to ditch the wig and maybe you'll get a super-short pixie cut if your hair growth is fast. Apparently our hair grows at 1/4 inch/month after chemo (as opposed to 1/2 inch of normal hair growth...)
-
dragonfly - I would desscribe my hair very similar to yours in texture..it doesnt feel really like hair to me..but as you said, I am just glad to have it! Here is a couple updated pics..almost 19 weeks..it really doesnt seem to be growing, but is getting more curly, so I assume that means its growing some for the curl to come out more.
-
missy111 - you look great with that hair.
achpurple - you actually look great without hair, and also looked wonderful in the wig!
mscrimmon - you should have enough hair for a short looking cut by then..I went on vacation when I was only about 10 weeks PFC and wore a cap most of the time..I had very little hair at that point, but I had a great time on vacation just the same, and didnt really care, since I knew nobody would know me there.
